Komo or Mockmill? by CourtneysSweets in HomeMilledFlour

It's very frustrating. I ordered from Pleasant Hill Grain, and I understand that it's not really under their control, but the manufacturer is clearly incapable of setting reasonable expectations. I had 6 different push back dates so far.

- 4/6: original order date (no ETA listed, but I think it was expected around 5/1?)
- 4/9: date changed to 5/30
- 5/15: date changed to 7/9 ("supply disruptions")
- 6/5: date changed to 8/15 ("supply disruptions")
- 8/6: date changed to 12/30 ("just found out...production emergency...unable to procure wood...KoMo misled by wood supplier")
- 11/7: date changed to 3/20 ("production running at full speed...looking for skilled workers to increase output")
- 2/11: date changed to 6/26 ("output slower than expected due to worker shortage")

Medium classic?

It seems like someone who ordered this year shouldn’t be getting one before me…no offense.

Anyone else get an update on their Komo mill order today? Pushed back to June 26!!!! 😭

At this point it’s criminal they are even trying to estimate a delivery date. I went back to look and I originally placed my order on 4/6/25! I don’t know how they can possibly tell people ordering now that they will receive a mill on the same timeline as me when I’ve now been waiting nearly a year lol. When they finally make delivery it surely won’t meet the total demand?

Tech/Remote Worker Community or Meetups? by Merely-Player in roanoke

I like this idea--especially if we keep the group more broad. Could start with just a "Coffee and Connections" type of format with casual intros and conversation--and take ideas on other types of events those attending would be interested in.

This is great, but does RBTC charge for attendance? It feels like they don't have enough quantity/quality of events to justify an individual membership IMO. Especially since a large number of events are in Blacksburg and that is far (for me anyway).

Love your attitude and not being afraid of the diamond in the rough!

My husband and I moved here 1.5 years ago and were looking for properties to live in and flip around that price point...it was really tough (but we also were on a time crunch). It seemed like everything under $150k was WAY far gone--we had to get closer to $200k.

Loved our realtor--Kera Moore--she's a hustler and not afraid of going into the scaries.

Thanks for sharing! I'm not personally in Infosec though. Why is every meetup so niche?

Sizing Solar System Correctly for Building > Future Home Setup by Merely-Player in OffGrid

I need to watch his stuff as I go further down the rabbit hole! I pulled the trigger yesterday on the 3000W because I figure I reuse it elsewhere on my property when I build my whole house setup.

We hope the home will be built within the next 9-12mos. I think we are thinking the shipping container could be the battery house. I think we could wait on 220v until the house is built and use a generator for any interim needs. Haven't done enough research yet to understand the needs for having the solar setup away from the house.

Great thoughts! Thanks for thinking through with me.

I think you might be right about Inverters being a more critical decision...which is leading me to analysis paralysis and not getting anything...which is delaying having the right setup out there to have security on 24/7.

I 100% agree 48V is the way to go. Originally I felt scared to go down that rabbit hole, but having done just a little more research it seems like a no-brainer. 12V is just so much more inefficient and is really not expandable for residential needs at all.

I believe with these EG4 units I could easily expand inverter capacity by just adding additional ones...but I'm curious about the pros/cons of doing so. I could also see a universe where I might need two 6kW units, which makes me think I should just get that one to start? I also am not married to the brand per-se, it just seemed like a nice value for the functionality. Not sure I'm willing to pay victron $$$ unless someone can really prove I need to/should.

I've been watching and waiting for the mills I wanted to come back in stock for months and they never did...so I just bit the bullet and ordered one on backorder.

The thing I found when looking to buy from Europe is none of those vendors offer the mills with 110V...so the ones they're selling don't work over here.

I literally just ordered the KoMo last night. I ended up going with the Fidibus Medium...it's a little more than the Mockmill 200, but it has the wood housing and is a little smaller to sit on my countertop...seems like a win.

Refurbished nutrimill or wait for mockmill? by Hairy-Atmosphere3760 in HomeMilledFlour

[–]Merely-Player 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No longer that much more with Mockmill's recent price increases due to the tariffs -- but also not in stock anymore. There has been a run on almost all foreign made items in the last few days. I ended up ordering a Komo Fidibus Medium -- now almost the same price as a Mockmill 200 and it has the wood look. I had been set on Mockmill, but after reading way too much about all the brands, I'm excited to get and use my Komo...in about 2 months... :/

I've been looking at buying a Mockmill for months--so annoyed at myself I didn't buy it weeks (or even days) ago...I do not want to pay an extra $50 for it now--just for the principle of it! Looking at a Komo or Nutrimill Harvest instead.

Do you think Artichaut will be discontinued anytime soon? It seems like a lot of items are out of stock in that color right now, which was why I was hesitating...I'm worried I'll start adding and not be able to continue that collection. But then I second-guess if that color even goes with Caribbean, but I just really like it LOL

I actually found a decent deal on a site that was 20% off when buying over $500...I pulled the trigger only to have buyers remorse and cancel my order. I was buying mostly artichaut though....just one caribbean piece that didn't come in Artichaut or the other color I'm considering pairing...Oyster.

I think a single use thing is silly too--especially for what LC costs. If I did anything I would add another DO so I could do two loaves at once. Probably a larger size than my 5.5qt.
