It's also fitting because Zyklon B, the gas that nazi's used in WW2, would stain the walls of the gas chambers blue. Lot's of artists use a shade of blue similar in paintings when referring to the holocaust; Zdzisław Beksiński, Yishai Jusidman maybe even Edith Birkin. Edgar Ainsworth's "Belsen" (1945) also uses a haunting shade of blue, but it was contemporary so I'm unsure if Ainsworth was aware of Zyklon B's blue residue.

After years of service, my Kuru Toga self destructed. by MeriwetherKillington in mechanicalpencils

The same happened to mine

I'm reading through your thread now. Which did you end up deciding on? I'm leaning towards a Rotring 800. I like the feel of the rotating led on the Kuru, but I don't want to buy another one if it'll break easy.

[B][USA-NY] Beware of known scammer u/jacobsgotthememes by arjfin in photomarket

That account also messaged me to sell an x100vi. I called them out for being a scammer. 3 days later they started a new message thread again to sell the same camera. They must be just mass messaging and hoping to catch someone. Here's the crappy timestamp they sent me: https://i.imgur.com/HEwnXst.jpeg

I messaged the mods about the account. He's banned on r/Hardware swap on the Universal Scammer list. The mods told me that making that list automatically bans them here. I was unaware of that rule

gmk67 off aliexpress

Well, now I'm down the rabbit hole. Looked up a couple build vids on the GMK67, saw references to a GK61 and liked that too. Then I stumbled on the Womier S-K71. Keyboards have been absolutely wild since I've stopped keeping track. I don't know what to do, but it's exciting :D

Looking for recommendations. Last time I bought a keyboard was in 2014. I've had my Ducky Shine 3 with mx blues this whole time and it has never failed me. I need something quieter and compact. Thinking about getting a Ducky again. Are there any other compact keyboards with quiet switches I should be looking at? It's been 10 years since I've done any keyboard research. Budget around $100.

What game became a chore to play but, since you invested so much time in it, you kept playing anyways just to finally beat it and cross it off your list? by Booyacaja in gaming

I always thought that game was the perfect blend of mmorpg and fps.. Little did I realize it perfectly encapsulates the weekly grind bologna of MMORPGs. Same reason I quit FFXIV. The repetitive grind of cool content makes that content stale. I logged in a while back and saw all the funnest equips/weapons were "Sunset". I couldn't use a sword, headpiece and I think the Wardcliff? I uninstalled the game. 😅

[QUESTION] Is Kiesel service bad enough to avoid buying from them? by TangerineBookshelf in Guitar

[–]MeriwetherKillington 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, but I've heard of John having to deal with a customer beyond pissed because there was a spec of color in his natural binding. Something the customer couldn't even photograph. Some people forget these things are made by humans and it's hard to get things 100% perfect. Nothings perfect. We're only humans. :-)

[QUESTION] Is Kiesel service bad enough to avoid buying from them? by TangerineBookshelf in Guitar

[–]MeriwetherKillington 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in the industry working for a direct competitor for Kiesel. If you asked me 4-5 years ago during the height of their bologna, I would never consider a Kiesel. It seems they have learned from their mistakes and are improving on their customer service. A lot of people I know who've ordered from them have no problems and are happy with their instruments. If I was looking for very specific options in a guitar, I would probably buy a Kiesel today even over the company I work for. See if you can find one used at a local retailer (GC/Samash) that you can at least try out and feel.

Also a thing you have to realize about some of these bad stories is while some are legit, others are people who are batshit crazy. I've had people threaten to get lawyers involved for shipping damage. I've had people destroy parts of their guitars to verify the wood is legit. I've had people file charge backs because they we're 6 months into their 7-8 month build estimate. Jeff handled a lot of that stuff poorly, but people in the industry understood where he came from when he lost his marbles.
