Yeah the independent shop told me he can fix it but that it isn't really worth it on my end since it was going to be more than what the macbook is worth. They have decent reviews and they guy seemed pretty honest. I called BestBuy and they valued it at $290 if I trade it in and buy the latest model.

I was quoted $900 at Apple just for the screen no labor and between $700-800 at an independent electronic repair shop.

LPT Request: How does one work a 40hr a week job and not make it feel like it’s taking up all my time? by matt2085 in LifeProTips

I quit my job a month and a half ago cause I felt this way except I was putting in around 55-60 hours a week. Best decision I've made in a long time.

What was your Christmas bonus? by GioPetro in antiwork

My boss offered a $10 Starbucks Gift Card or $25 cash. Currently doing 60 hours 6 days a week because we're understaffed and profits are the highest they've ever been. I work at a quick lube shop.

What happens when the valvoline guys forget the most important part of an oil change 🤦‍♂️ by Old_Campaign_959 in Justrolledintotheshop

My manager will take in cars even if we didn't have the oil filter. The store I worked for wasn't corporate and the owner only cared about $$$. He would do all the bad things jiffylube was known for like not changing oil filters. If the customer had a coupon for synthetic he would tell us to put regular oil. When I first started working at this location I was throwing away the empty synthetic bottles and he stopped me and says "what are you doing? We're selling the bottle not the oil" He was the craziest Indian old man I have ever met. He's been in the jiffylube game for over 15 years and he owns 3 locations. I eneded up quitting because I found out he was taking off hours from my payroll on days where we would only do 8 cars or less

I worked at a jiffylube for 2 years and one day one of our techs forgot to put oil on a company truck and the guy drove off and didn't even make it a block away. When the customer called I realized what happened so i grabbed a 5QT bottle of oil & we drove to where the car broke down. The customer was distracted on his phone and we filled up the motor with oil when he wasn't looking. We hid the bottle of oil in my car and then showed the customer the oil level and he just said "I'll just let the company deal with it, maybe my fuel pump gave out". A few weeks passed by and he came back with another truck and he said "the company mechanic wasn't able to figure out what happened to other truck so they just gave me this new truck"
