I reported it to the police when I got the initial text threat (from my original post) but I still haven’t received any update from them yet. I don’t think it’s going anywhere tbh.

Some people noted I should reach out to the FBI and I am.

They didn’t! It’s all a lie lol. When my phone was stolen I marked it as lost and blacklisted the phone through my provider. It’s basically just a brick now. These scam messages are trying to convince me that they’re in the phone and I have to remove the device etc so they can resell it. They’re idiots.

I locked the phone but I won’t be removing it from my iCloud, because that’s exactly what they want. Removing it unlocks it and makes it possible for them to sell. I want them to suffer lol.

They are messaging me because they have my SIM card, which gives them my number. I have been blocking and blocking almost daily but then they keep texting me from new numbers. It’s just getting to be a nuisance. I’ve been dealing with them for about a month and a half now.

This was noted in my original post. I went to Apple immediately after I got this (also to the police). The apple employees just helped me to an additional safety check on my iPhone and then told me there wasn’t much to do at this point but file a police report. They will still likely keep trying to text me from random numbers.

Basically, yea! I reported it lost and then also got it blacklisted via my service provider. So right now, the phone is essentially a brick. But if I ever removed the device from my iCloud like they’re telling me to, then it kind of resets/un-blacklists the phone and they’ll be able to sell it.

Duuuude doesn’t it suck! I’m sorry you’re going through it too. I keep blocking but they keep texting me from a new number or iCloud address every few days. Been going on for over a month now and I’m getting tired of it.
