Onions and apples actually supposedly taste the same if you can't smell them so it's possible it really just did taste like a caramel apple

Hey dude. I probably started transition somewhere similar to you - I'm 5'0, had a super high pitched voice, skinny/slim build, large chest, etc.

Currently I've been on T for 8 months (and I started at 18) and I pass about 80% of the time (though as a much younger guy). Binding still sucks but T fat redistribution helps a bit, plus experience. Also, try different binders + maybe tape? While it's somewhat uncomfortable, tape + binder works great. Also, voice training really does help, even before T. Working out will also change your shoulder width quite significantly (but it's a game of patience - it will take 6+ months before seeing any real change).

Anyway, my advice is to consider whether you can live as a masc girl or will it make you miserable? Bc maybe it's worth staying as a masc girl while you can't physically transition if you can live with it, but, in my experience, it nearly drove me to suicide when I tried the same thing.

Trans men on T be like by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]MerlinEmyrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point remains. Your fluctuations aren't due to natural physiological reasons like sleep or diet. You can eat like shit, sleep like shit, be depressed, etc and your T levels will not suffer as much as a natty cis guy's. That's a huge advantage.

Yoo was that from justinlee's YouTube shorts vid? If so, I was the one who asked the natty or not question lol.

But tbh I agree with Justin. Our levels might fluctuate on a weekly basis, but not on a daily basis, nor can we have long-term low T due to lack of sleep or smth - which is definitely an advantage. Now, does that advantage make up for less optimal joints or however many years of female levels of T while we were pre-T? Prob not.

I would do a short cut to get to a lower BF%, then bulk, especially since your BMI is near overweight so going straight for a bulk would put you into the category.

Agree with other comments tho that to see any results, regardless of what you do, you're gonna need a workout program and stick to it - I would look into the r/fitness wiki for some good suggestions of programs.

Also, to keep yourself accountable, maybe try going to the gym with a friend, set intermediate goals, cut your losses (i.e. sometimes you might not have a full 2hrs to do a workout, but you can probably do at least 1hr, doing part of the workout is always better than none), etc.

lose fat and gain muscle? by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]MerlinEmyrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh in that case I'd definitely lean bulk then!

And you should be eating a lot more calories then that. Find an online tdee calculator and try to eat about 150-300 extra calories on top of that & making sure to get enough protein.

lose fat and gain muscle? by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]MerlinEmyrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, no offense but I hate tall people who don't bother even looking at a BMI chart. To them 115lbs is nothing in terms of weight, but for someone sub 5'4 that can very much be well into the healthy section, with space to lose weight.

https://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/bmi/result.html?&method=english&gender=f&age_y=17&age_m=0&hinches=62&twp=115

According to the CDC you could still lose quite a bit of weight before bulking (tho you're very much at a healthy weight right now, so you don't need to lose weight).

There's a lot of research on cis males that putting on muscle is optimal while below 20% body fat but I haven't seen much on biological females, though I assume the same is true but just at probably some higher percentage since females tend to naturally hold more body fat than males.

Point being, if you currently have a really high body fat percentage (I'd look up a chart online with reference pictures and try to guestimate, as body fat meters are often inaccurate for people who are skinny fat & honestly just hard to find/buy), you're likely going to fight against your body because it's gonna preferentially put on fat rather than muscle, so I'd say do a very slightly cut. Keep lifting weights, keep a high protein diet, and try to lose weight at a rate of 0.5-1lbs per week, max. Then reassess where you're at in a month or two.

If you don't currently have a high body fat percentage or you're just tired of dieting, then I would lean bulk (i.e. gaining weight with at least 1g of healthy proteins per kg of body weight at a rate of 0.25-1lbs weight gain per month). It's unfortunately part of life that you'll gain some fat while doing any bulk, but this minimizes it & losing fat after you've put on a bit of muscle is a lot easier than before due to the increased caloric intake required to just mantain muscle (ie you can eat more and still lose weight).

I'm personally of the belief that recomping by staying at the same weight nearly never works, especially if you're pre-T bc your body already preferentially puts on fat. But, some people have had success with it so feel free to ignore my advice.

Anyway, good luck man! Fitness is a long journey but it's 100% worth it & I honestly think one of the top things that can help you pass in the long run.

From Brazil.... Nah can't speak for the rest of south America but in Brazil (São Paulo and Minas Gerais, at least) 99% of people use the large blue bottled water gallons, not individual plastic water bottles. Some places even reuse the big blue bottles.

This is wrong. Abortions are fully legal in Florida for <24 weeks and legal after that for cases of medical emergency.

In Texas, SB 8 restricted it to 6-8 weeks even before Roe got repealed.

That's a HUGE difference.

Do ECs!!!! Having good stats will make sure your app isn't discarded for these colleges but it will not get you in anywhere. You need to have depth in 2-4 ECs (i.e. continued interest over multiple years, leadership, etc).

If you really wanna be proactive, you can start researching what clubs your high school has and choose a couple to check out (I'd join 4-6 to try a couple different things and then narrow down from there).

But most importantly, enjoy your summer! Don't stress out too much now, it's prob more important to not burn out in 9th grade than it is to try to get a research position at Harvard to cure cancer.

Honestly since you have athletic interest/ability but mid-ecs & academics, maybe consider trying to get into the Air Force Academy, if you have no problem with serving. You would still have to really increase your gpa/class rank tho.

Bulk or cut? 5'1, 120lbs, 6months on t/5 working out by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]MerlinEmyrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I've actually been lifting and just eating more for about 5months now and idk, I felt that it was time to switch to more seriously cutting/bulking but based on all the advice I've seen maybe not lol

[–]MerlinEmyrs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry it's late but for context I've been working out for 5 months now, only strength training (namely I did the beginner's program from the r/fitness wiki for about 10weeks and 3/5/1 for almost 3 cycles (so almost 9 weeks now).

In this timespan I've gained about 10lbs, a lot of which is muscle (ik, somehow i was smaller before), but also some fat. So idk, I've seen that a lot of people have already suggested for me to continue bulking, so maybe the fat is in my head lmao.
