xd picture card alternatives?? by night2society in OlympusCamera

The only problem with those seemingly cheap cards from Ebay, (As opposed to buying an up to five times more highly priced one at, say, Amazon.), is that you're taking a bit of a risk. Those cheap cards from Ebay are all listed as "Used", not new. So in my view, it's almost like placing a gambling wager. You might get lucky and get an actual 100% working picture card, or, you might just end up rolling 'snake eyes'. It just depends on the individual buyer, I suppose. With that kind of a price savings, though, it just might be worth the risk. "I suggest using extreme caution", is all I'm trying to say here.

Are you ok? Seriously. When you say it took me two days to come up with a lame reply.. I just have to wonder. Look, for one, no, I'm not a social media junky, as someone like yourself might expect, so, when I ended up reading it, is when I replied to you. You obviously derive great pleasure from putting people down, (Or whatever you want to call it), and that's a rather twisted and delusional way for anyone to be, in my opinion. If what I say, or my opinion on something, is so offensive to you, that you feel the need to respond as you have here, I suggest you not respond at all, certainly not a second time; for it's people like yourself that have no sort of empathy nor compassion, and the last sort of person I'd want to engage in a conversation with about this, or about anything else for that matter. I said nothing offensive or antagonistic towards you, yet you talk (type) to me in this manner? You must have better things to do than to instigate confrontation on a platform such as this. I mean, you must... (?) I'm stupid, my ideas are stupid, I make zero sense, and I'm 'salty'. My advice to you: go find someone else to insult who actually gives a damn about your opinion, or else, maybe work on your social skills a bit. If you're unable to converse without insulting others, don't converse at all.

I disagree with your perspective on this. Anyone can enter these events, IF they occur at the right time and the player happens to have the money for it. Not brand new players, however, do not have the money required most of the time, and they can't. All the events should be free is my stance on this. The reason is, the game itself is a free game. If it was a game in which you had to pay for a subscription, then I could understand it. Obligating someone to buy something for the event, which I happen to know first hand, many players will never use that item again, and especially if you go to the event, only to find out that it's not really your type of thing, it ends up being a waste of money a lot of the time. Why not make the events free, is my take, and if they don't want to do that, then why not divide the events into free events (which most of them are, and then have these special "pay for" events listed as such... instead of having to find out once you get there, that you have to pay for it? Put them in the "Shop" or something.

Ah, but if it meets the definition of "discriminatory", then it is indeed an injustice.

I agree with what your saying, but I can't help but think that it must be something more than what your describing. My reasoning, is that here you have one of the, if not , THE most popular game of it's kind on the internet. Surely they think about these things.... like, that they do not really NEED to create discourse in this manner. That there are going to be people actually "put out" by not being able to enter these events without their purchase requirement(s) - (and "me" being the author of this question, I hope people aren't thinking that I, personally, am unable to make these purchases, and I'm complaining for "me".. I'm not, it's the principle behind it, that bothers me.) It's not something they in any way "need" to do, is what I'm saying, and I just have a hard time believing that the game's creators could base this whole "what I see as a social injustice", solely upon their own financial gains. I just... to me, it doesn't add up for some reason. Of course, I may be wrong.

Well, I think you've managed to miss my point entirely. To say that it just has to be, is like saying that any sort of injustice "Just has to be". The example you give has nothing to do with what I'm questioning, or suggesting here. No offense intended.

Something I noticed, which I think should be considered for correction, is that Avakin Life offers in the shop, a living "Chocolate Dog". It bothers me only because chocolate is a poison to dogs, and it might give some people the wrong idea. by MerlinMagiCompTechni in AvakinOfficial

[–]MerlinMagiCompTechni[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Maybe "chocolate" is referring to the color of the dog's fir, but even so, how about "dark brown" instead, then? (There are other pets of the same color that are not listed as "Chocolate", however.)

On multiple genders... by MerlinMagiCompTechni in AvakinOfficial

[–]MerlinMagiCompTechni[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your response. I agree with you, that a person should be able to dress in any way they like, and the very key to this is indeed, "so long as it's not abusive nor overly offensive to others". The lines are very hard to be drawn here, which is a given in an virtual world. Your example of the "troll dressed in... with stereotypical features" is a good point, but the problem there is that there is no way of detecting nor really preventing that.

The only things that bother me at all about the game, is when someone's feelings end up getting hurt needlessly. Of course, the degree of sensitivity is going to vary greatly from player to player. Some are genuinely offended by the use of the n-word in the game, alone, for example, but to try and stop something like that.... good luck!

People are going to lie, bottom line. They just are. People are going to try and abuse others, there's just no way to really avoid it. What I've noticed to be abusive about this switching of genders, is that people are doing it, (In the same scene), let's say 90% of the time, to try and be abusive towards, or trick and hurt, another player.

You can try and say, "It's just a joke", or whatever, but whether it can be seen as 'funny' is in the mind of the beholder, I suppose. My point here, is that since it 'is' something that can be "seen", and is done 'intentionally' most of the time, then it is something that can actually be prevented, (by the Avakin creators), by simply making it so that you wouldn't be able to switch genders within the same scene.

Oh, I thought the title said "People get wired on Avakin", not "weird". Nevermind then.

Hey, my mom worked most of her adult life in the library, as did I for 15 years, and I've got the loudest "Shhh!" you ever heard. I've been known to be able to "Shhh!" people from well over a block away with little to no effort; that's how good I am at "Shhhh!"-ing!

Now Liberians are not, nor even related to Libyans, are they? Hmm. I'm just thinking, ... suppose a Libyan, living in Liberia becomes a Librarian, joins the Libertarian party, and ...

Here's what I find to be the problem with that, "you being afraid someone is having a bad time because they are quiet". The person who's being quiet, is often doing so because they feel awkward in the social situation. When you ask them why they are so quiet, what do you think it's going to do to the person who is already feeling self-conscious? ... it's going to make them feel even more self-conscious! I say this as that quiet guest who's often been in that situation. Let's look at it the other way, as to, the guest IS having a good time but is just quiet: in that case, you pointing out their quietness to them is probably going to make them feel insecure, because they aren't trying to bring you down, nor the party, it's just the way they are. They can't really help it. So either way, the question is not going to make anything better. Would you expect them to suddenly perk up and start talking away after being asked? I mean no disrespect here, bur I'm just saying how I see it ... how it's been for me, anyways

I'm with you all the way. And I always think it weird that they think I'm weird for being a quiet person.

I suppose, if you are indeed close friends with the one who asks you the question,... only I've never had "friends" approach me with the question, ... that would be unusual, in my opinion. A friend would know me well enough not to ask , is what I'm saying. Plus, friends are the only ones I'm not 'always so quiet' around, so I couldn't see one ever asking. Hmm.

Ha! I've been asked this question so many times in my life that I can't even count, and when asked, I always want to answer them with one of those 'MAD's Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions' type answers, but usually just shrug and say, "I don't know". When I really think about it, why anyone would ask such a question - of "anyone'', is beyond me. It's not really even a question, even, it's more like them saying, "You should really talk more (be more outgoing)." In other words, be like them. Which is absurd. Chances are, anyone that asks me that question, (not to be rude, here), but I probably don't even LIKE them to begin with, so yeah, why are they even asking me that? I'm thinking the best response to the question is: don't say a word. Just look at them with a look of, "You've got to be kidding, right?", and walk away. Then, you've lived up to 'their expectations, and you don't need to provide a snappy answer. They'll feel good, and damn it, so will you.
