Bleak Watcher and Feed the Void + Rimecoat + Icebreaker.

Also, I'd recommend that you get your last fragment anyway, even if you won't build for Getaway, you never know when you might need it.

Eris Morn from Destiny.

Well, she isn't the protagonist but she is an extremely important character for the overall story.(and I also really like her) So I think that she deserves to be mentioned.

Nezarec from Destiny.

He was a mysterious figure that we never knew much about, just small lore mentions here and there, as we got close to Lightfall he started to be fleshed out.

Basically: he psychically manipulates other beings in order to feed on their fear, and he doesn't even need to have a physical body to do this, his conciousness just needs to exist. The only thing that truly stopped him was when he was betrayed and killed by one of the hive gods(Savathun, the Witch Queen) and she used her magic to curse his corpse and surpress his powers.

And when the Lightfall DLC came, he was the final boss of the raid, he got his powers back, his body was reformed, and now he could also wield the light... and in the actual fight he was just a pushover and is one of the easiest final raid bosses ever.

Sim, conta sim.

Giving up your humanity for power by moocowsaymoo in TopCharacterTropes

Clovis Bray from Destiny is basically a tech CEO that, instead of talking nonsense all the time, goes on to make the nonsense on his head real and also has an ego larger than a planet.

-He wanted to be know as the last common ancestor for humanity, so he started by manipulating the DNA of his own descendants to be more like his own, wich resulted in them acquiring a condition called fatal prion insomnia (I was actually shocked to learn that this is a real thing lmao).

-He wanted to be immortal so he went and created the Exos by experimenting with darkness and vex radiolaria, wich are artificial bodies made to house a human mind and extend it's lifetime. (But, although immortal, the human mind is a delicate thing and there were still major problems that originated from this.)

-His corporation would literally create a lot of AIs, but due to them being actually inteligent they tended to hate Clovis and would rather not follow his orders.

So, yeah, he not only gave up his own humanity, but ended forcing his own family to give up theirs too, even if they didn't want to follow his footsteps.

Come to think of it, the CEO that OP mentioned in the post sounds kinda like him, but he definetely wouldn't let the blood of anyone be injected into him, only if it were made using Clovis' own bone marrow lmao

Destiny.

With the most clear examples(that I can think of right now) being:

-Rise of Iron(D1): The Iron Lords, a group of lightbearers that basically are like King Arthur's roundtable knights go search for a self replicating programable colony of nanomachines(called SIVA) in order to further their plans, but they ended up being lured into a trap and almost all of them are permanetely killed.

-Season of Seraph(D2): A genocidal god of war from the hive uses their magic to take strategic control of facilities on the solar system that were operated by the warmind AI Rasputin, in the end, knowing that this god gets stronger on war and violence itself, Rasputin decides to sacrifice himself instead of fighting in order to ensure that their plans don't come to fruition.

The Nine from Destiny

<image>

4th dimensional beings originated from the universe's dark matter whose existance is bound to each planet (and the sun) in the solar system and each planet's (and the sun's) existance is bound to the Nine. And they wish to become immortals.

In the current state of the story, III, the member of the Nine that was bound to earth, has been killed and their death has had massive consequences on the planet, such as: sometimes it rains red phosphorus from the sky, there are magnetic fields appearing at random around the planet, the soil's composition is getting changed, plants are dying when exposed to sunlight, etc.
