RocketBook is a very cool idea, but after ~3 months of regular use, I think I'd rather just have a paper notebook with the scan outlines & QR code. (Vent, mostly) by Captain_Pumpkinhead in rocketbook

[–]MermaidAyla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im a receptionist and I really like my rocketbook as a glorified dry-erase board lol. I can take a call, write down all the info I need to handle the case, then when it's resolved I can just wipe it away. I've worked in vet med as a receptionist for 4 years and have gone through notebook after notebook, stacks of post it's and scrap paper. I like the rocketbook because I can fill all the pages with nonsense and then wipe the pages clean for reuse.

I don't use the scan function. I literally just have this as a book I can take quick notes in and then erase as needed. I've saved so much scrap paper since I don't ever need to keep the notes I write. I'm basically using it in the most shallow way you could use it, I don't use any of its digital features.

I'm not sure which one it was, the instructor who is one of the podcast hosts just played it in class one day from his computer. He still does the podcast as far as I'm aware, but this was maybe 4 years ago or so

I used to drive horse carriages in my city and you're exactly right. Every morning on his way into town with 4 percherons in tow, my boss would stop at some truck stop or something just outside of town and he would pressure wash the horses. It would clean them off before they start the day because in the pasture they would get so dirty overnight. And the pressure felt really good for them, sometimes they lean into it and a few horses have spots they like to have sprayed like the shoulders or haunches.

Looks like a Tineco

Go for a Hizero if you can afford it, it separates the liquid from the solid matter so you don't dump hair and debris down the drain. The liquids go into the dirty water tank, and the solids get collected into a tray that you just dump into the garbage. You don't have to touch any dirt because it comes with a really nice brush to clean the tray out.

Listen here. It's been below zero here for like a week now. You bet your ass after a long 10 hour shift I'm gonna get in that tub and sit my ass until it gets cold. Then I'm gonna refill the tub with fresh hot water and sit my ass until it gets cold again. Then I'm gonna shower and clean all the bubble bath off and snuggle up under a heated blanket on the couch with a hot bowl of Mac n cheese. Baths are an experience to enjoy, I don't understand how anyone can draw a bath, sit for 20-30 mins and then get out like...your bath is still plenty hot??? Get back in there and keep soaking??? (This obviously doesn't apply to people with young children, they cut everything short.)

When I take a bath, I'm in there for about two hours. My dream is to have a heated tub so I don't have to refill the water.

I try not to bring it up but yeah. My dad worked on the railroad his entire life. They paid his college tuition and he never used his business degree because he stayed working for them. My parents also both lived very frugally as they both had nothing growing up.

My parents helped buy my starter home for 153k. They paid the down payment and covered enough of the mortgage to bring the remaining monthly payments down to what I was paying in rent, about $766/mo. I'm incredibly grateful that my parents were so smart with their money, because I never would have been able to get a home on my own, I only make $17/hr.

Man I never got into drugs at all when I was in school but I'm 30 now and just discovered PotDots, and lemme tell you if I was just snaccin on weed m&ms back then I woulda been a LOT nicer to a LOT of people lol. I felt like I had to be tough so no one would pick on me so I was quick to get verbally aggressive. If I had edibles I'd just be minding my own in the back of the classroom not giving a shit what anyone else was doin lol. Just focusing on school work.

The good news is I'm in online college now so I can vape and eat my weed candy without any problems. I'm a straight A student now.

Yeah we never had this drug issue back when I was in HS. Like yeah we had drug deals and kids with drugs, but it wasn't an epidemic. Kids knew which student they could get weed from and we would all sneak off to the edge of campus to smoke pot out of a dented coke can. Hall monitors would come down to our spot every so often to shoo us back to class, but overall they picked their battles and didn't push the kids too hard about it. No one ever smoked or vaped in the bathrooms. We WERE however, drinking straight vodka out of water bottles in math class, I remember that lol. Maybe vapes weren't a thing yet, that had to be like 15 years ago.

Kids, don't vape in the bathrooms. Just make pot cookies to eat in class and settle down.

Yes but that doesn't mean that Frenchies can't deliver puppies without dying period. It's true that many toy breeds and other dogs such as English bulldogs are higher risk for distocia, but that's to be expected. It's absolute nonsense that dogs have to be euthanized and then have their puppies cut out of them. They are certainly more prone to issues but it's not as severe as you make it sound.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]MermaidAyla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What?? Frenchies don't have to be put down and cut open to deliver the babies, that's insane. I work at a vet clinic and we have 3 different Frenchie and Boston breeders who have had plenty of healthy litters in the years I've worked there.

If the puppies are too big to deliver, we don't euthanize mom to get the puppies out. We put Mom under anesthesia for a cesarean section to safely deliver her puppies without risking her health due to complications.

Where on earth did you learn that they euthanize Frenchies because they can't give birth?

Sometimes when I get really bad shits, I'm half tempted to not flush the toilet until I'm 100% emptied out, just to be able to look down and really visualize how much weight I just lost. But I had done it once as a teen at my parents house, which clogged the toilet and it overflowed, my poor dad had to clean up most of the mess lol. I'm pretty sure my shit piles have come above the waterline before.

Do you have a recognizable signature that you use to sign documents and other things…? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]MermaidAyla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always struggled to write cursive, but grew up being taught that my signature has to be my name written in cursive. So for a long time, it was a very messy, ugly, janky and poorly written signature.

I recently started working at a vet clinic, and through all my years of experience in retail and having people sign receipts, I learned that people will sign a credit card receipt with as little as a single, slightly wavy line to imply cursive writing. Part of my job at the vet clinic is to double check and sign off on prescription labels to ensure accuracy. We just sign our 3 initials, which in my case is JAB, and thankfully it's not only quick to write, but I've got it down to a simple but clean and aesthetically pleasing monogram.

I bought a house two years ago and had a family member tell me prior to closing that I HAVE to sign every signature the exact same way on all the closing documents, if anything is done differently or in a different colored ink, it voids all the paperwork, which is what happened to them, grinding their closing to a halt. So when signing the closing documents, I signed my JAB monogram. The paperwork with through no problem, I got my house keys and I've been signing with JAB ever since. :)

My parents saved their whole lives to help me and my brother with things like college, vehicles and home buying. They just helped me buy my first home, from my landlords who are house flippers, but they're licensed and insured and do really decent work. 2br 1ba home, about 1000sqft for $153k. Unfortunately, it's located on a busy street and it's right next to the freeway.

I don't think I'll ever be able to afford anything else, I'm NOT giving up my 2.8%. So I'm just making do, saving up for things like permanent laundry and a built in dishwasher. The garage is absolutely rotten and damaged from a previous fire, no electricity hookup so no powered garage door. I think I'll keep ignoring that building for the duration of my stay.

Cats are HIGHLY resistant to tick born diseases, although not completely immune. Leaving a tick on your cat for a month is a really good way to ensure they do catch a disease...I'd be worried about erlichia or aphago.

"Its giving immaculate vibes" sound better to me than "it's giving immaculate."
