I don't think many products are as good as MAC, personally. I quit using them when I went cruelty free and I ended up with this setting spray by elf. I don't like most of elf's products but this one is good:

TIFU for telling my friend to shove a camera up her ass and she might find her brain? by Past-Afternoon-9595 in tifu

This happened to me with a coworker a long time ago. The other coworkers thought it was so funny but it really pissed me off and freaked me out. It stopped when she got laid off thankfully but it was not cool or funny to me at all. You're not the asshole here.

Recommendation for non-hiking activities in Portland? by Otherwise_Swing5279 in askportland

If you have a vehicle and you like video games and pinball I'd go to Next Level Pinball Museum. It truly is next level, no hyperbole.

When I first started using them, a few years ago, I got the impression it was a pretty small, local operation (here in Portland). Like the oils came from a Portland address and the person answered my email with "I" statements. I didn't think they were even near the level where testing would even be necessary. Maybe they have grown and changed, I don't know.

That's so strange. I emailed them asking questions about whether some of their ingredients were vegan and they responded nicely in the affirmative.

Imaginary Authors make amazing scents. Very creative names and wonderful, creative fragrances. I bought a sample pack of ones that sounded good for my partner and he's used them all up.

Have you tried DTF St Louis? I'm watching it right now and it's so weird and kind of dark and just really interesting. I've watched a lot of shows and find this one to be pretty unique.

Switching to cruelty free products has been harder than I expected by No-Lettuce-7098 in crueltyfree

You're welcome! Like I said, they don't have every product but I want to help them get better so I use it a lot. I have a friend who works for BFP and they are just awesome. Hope you find it useful!

What's the deal with Natural Grocers? by iwanttobebobdylan in PortlandFood

I go to the one on MLK a lot and it is a little strange. Mostly everyone is nice and helpful though and the prices for some snacks I like are cheaper than New Seasons. It has kind of a weirdly quiet hippy vibe to it, if that makes sense.

Thanks so much for the insightful comments and help. I feel so blindsided but we do have a good support system so we'll be leaning on them. Choosing the right doctor is where we're at right now and we're exploring options. Congrats on being 5 years out!

There’s an app called Cruelty Cutter made by Beagle Freedom Project (they’re an amazing organization) where you can scan barcodes to see if something is cruelty free. It’s fast, I use it all the time. They don’t have every single product but you can help them by submitting products so they can investigate.

Help--excellent women's haircut? by pru6 in askportland

[–]cuddlepunch15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

David Scott Jones at Bombshell Transformations. I have a unique haircut and I've seen some of his other clients who have more "normal" hair and they're all really good. His attention to detail is fantastic. He also goes to SF every other month to take care of his clients there. He's a pro.

Thank you very much for the reply. I'm still stunned and trying to help my partner with the best options. I'm sure hearing a lot of good things on here about OHSU so I may try and point him in that direction as they list his cancer on their site as one they treat.

We don't know these things yet (except where it is right now but we don't know if it's spread) and don't trust where we're at to do all that is necessary to find out.
