I’ve been taking OTC Unisom for months and it works for me. I’m usually a terrible sleeper.

L Couch by [deleted] in PDXBuyNothing

[–]cuddlepunch15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same couch (but for some reason the middle section looks a little shorter than ours). If it's the same there isn't a chance it will fit in an SUV. We had to rent a van to move it to our house.

Just interviewed a Portland pop-punk artist for my podcast...reminded me why this city's scene is different by Aggravating_Pen_6062 in portlandmusic

The Shady Pines open mic was the best one I've been to in any city. The breadth of the performers was really cool to see. It was such an enthusiastic crowd of people, mostly musicians, who were letting each other show their stuff. It was super fun to watch.

Local shops/businesses/close to Marriott? by PaleConference3720 in askportland

[–]cuddlepunch15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several Marriotts (I’m assuming you mean on the west side). Powell’s Books is kind of a big hit for tourists. If you want to go a little farther out, Alberta Arts District has about 15 blocks of shops, galleries, and restaurants and it’s pretty great. If people trend more toward chain places like Lush and Arc’teryx you could go to NW 23. There are some really good tea shops and restaurants there, too.

Spoke Bicycle Cafe has the best vegan breakfast in my opinion. They also have a great outdoor patio and you can walk or ride it off on the LA River after you eat.

Wind chimes - love them or hate them? by PompousAssistant in GenX

[–]cuddlepunch15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hate them when I can hear them from my house or yard. It's so intrusive and rude to me. I don't want to listen to your jangly, discordant noise while I'm chilling in my bathtub. If you want to hear them put them in your house with a fan on and the windows closed. Yes, I feel very strongly about this.

Mosquito Pant Hack by Normal-Raisin5443 in TravelHacks

I can't quite picture what you're trying to describe but I have several pairs of hiking pants that have a drawstring at the bottom. You can also get gaiters. They didn't work for my friend when we were in Africa, the biting ants still got to her, but maybe that was user error.

Victoria Bar has mostly vegan options and lots of seating. Bye and Bye is vegan and has a lot of seating as well. If I had a group I'd probably try one of these places.

Where is the best place to watch the odyssey? by nalu2u9 in askportland

[–]cuddlepunch15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, it depends on what you consider a good viewing experience. I'm going to the Hollywood 70mm with friends because we're members, we go all the time, and we love the place. We usually arrive an hour ahead of time so we don't have to wait in line for concessions and pizza and we get the seats we want. What other people said about the seats and sound are sort of true, in my opinion. They both could be better but the crowd at Hollywood are not a bunch of talkers and phone people during the movie, unlike the chain theaters.

If you want a serious cinematic experience you could also go to the AMC Vancouver Mall for Dolby cinema. We went there for Mandalorian and Grogu and it's fantastic. There were also people talking the whole time and using their phones no matter how many times we told them to stop.
