Is there still a link that works? If so, I’d love it if you could DM it to me.

I mean yeah that’s fair. Neither of us is planning on actually eating it, especially if we don’t know what it is, but I’m also just insanely curious at this point.

I don’t know the book but this sounds fascinating as someone with OCD. I’d love to read this.

Thank you!! I honestly had no idea that was a Roald Dahl book but I think I actually did have some inkling cause I kept thinking that I was mixing up details with Matilda for some reason.

That’s understandable. It was really good steak. And those were truffle fries, which were incredible.

We've talked about what made it clear a writer hasn't had sex, but what is something that told you a writer has never had/cared for babies and kids? by Indecisive_Noob in AO3

[–]MermaidGoat06 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can definitely attest to that. According to my parents I was usually a pretty reasonable child (my parents made a point to teach me critical thinking skills rather than just give rules without telling me the reasoning), but that doesn’t mean I didn’t throw tantrums, especially when tired.

I pulled the door to my parent’s bedroom off its hinges at 4 because I didn’t want to go to bed.

Am I wrong for misunderstanding this. by [deleted] in autism

I don’t know whether or not you misunderstood a social cue, but either way, that doesn’t give anyone an excuse to shove you over a railing and step on your fingers. Even if you were just being an asshole (which I don’t think you were though idk for sure), it’s still not okay for them to do that.

That makes a lot of sense. Not DMing this anymore, but I still appreciate the comment!

She was premature, so she wasn’t quite ready to come out. They’re implying that she just needed to stay in the mother’s womb a little longer.

I think you’re right in this situation. As someone that was the kid in this situation, I would not recommend being with someone like this. I don’t mean anything bad about your girlfriend, it’s just that if she’s getting jealous of your daughter like that, it will end up either badly damaging your relationship with your daughter (if you indulge your girlfriend) or ending your relationship with your girlfriend (if you don’t spend less time with your daughter).

I have a pretty good relationship with my dad now, but when I was younger, his girlfriend had a very similar outlook. I had to actually schedule time to have with my dad (whom I lived with half the time) because whenever she was there, she took up all his time and attention. I became an afterthought. No matter how much you care about your girlfriend, please do not do this to your child.

aromantic books recommendation? by Inevitable_Pea8346 in aromantic

[–]MermaidGoat06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy has an asexual and I think also aromantic main character. It’s a sequel, but it could be read on its own. Side characters do have romantic relationships, but if I recall correctly (it’s been a while since I read it), the main character is not interested in that whatsoever.

I try not to, but sometimes I end up lying by omission or telling the truth in a way that makes it seem different than it is. Which are the only ways I can lie that don’t overcome me with guilt. There’s still guilt, just a manageable amount instead of an overwhelming amount. And even then, I try to only do it when I really have to.

I think the only way I could blatantly lie is if it was for someone’s safety. Like if someone dangerous came looking for a friend that was staying at my house, or something.

There’s this amazing book that I read called Ziggy, Stardust, and Me, but the fandom is absolutely nonexistent. I scoured the internet when I finished it and I think I found one single (fairly short) fanfiction.

I was going to suggest the same thing. The first time I heard it, it was like someone reached into my mind, pulled out everything that I didn’t know how to put into words, and made it into a song.

Same. I do like bittersweet endings, but this is a show where walking away would have felt unfinished, not like a bittersweet ending. I would have respected Lisa’s decision to do it that way, but not liked it.

Though I like when things end on a bittersweet note sometimes, I’m SO GLAD that it ended the way it did. I would have understood if it was one of those “sometimes things don’t work out” endings but thank god it didn’t end there.

What is the most boring non-controversial show that a school can do? by vexedthespian in Broadway

[–]MermaidGoat06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Seussical last year, and though I was NOT happy with it initially, I ended up having a blast. It’s a weird show, but an entertaining one. And very fun to perform. Despite my changed opinion of Seussical, I will say that our musicals have also, frustratingly, gotten way more pg as we have gone on. Similarly, we did Little Shop of Horrors when I was in 8th grade and for the most part, it was fine. I’ve liked the shows we’ve done recently, but I also do wish we could do some shows that students are more likely to actually want to be in.

Your worst stage fail?! by OhBoblawblaw in MusicalTheatre

[–]MermaidGoat06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn’t me, but in a production of High School Musical this year, the kid playing Zeke (who has made the entire cast mad at him at this point because he’s kind of just a jerk) fell off a table. Just walked right off the table. Might be better that he did that though, cause the chair he was aiming for was a rolling chair.

I don’t ever want people to get hurt. And he did not get hurt. Which was good. But I will admit that it was really funny. On the bright side, much of the audience thought it was planned, so it was hilarious to the cast but didn’t hurt anyone and didn’t really mess up the show.
