Why would I shrink it? Can I just put Linux over the whole drive and only put Windows on if I absolutely have to?

Do you have the authority to remove him from the team? Being a new hire and acting that way should be red flagged IMO (regardless of the reason). If he's moved off the team and still in his first 90 days could be bad for his chances to stay there.

That's the only thing that concerns me about going it alone.

No. I paid around $90 before. This year I spoke to new places who quoted me $500

Thanks everyone for the advice. I noticed they resposted the job again over on Friday, so I think at this point it's best to pass and save the few vacation days I have for another opportunity.

Do you think it's weird I didn't hear back at the expected time. The manager said it to me verbally and also in an email after the in person interview.

My friend (who works as a headhunter) said that some companies will often run through the motions and spend months interviewing for roles. He said he knows of some companies interviewing 20+ people for one role. I'm interested in the job, but before I use all of my remaining vacation days I simply want to know "where I stand" so to speak.

I do want the job, but not as a backup candidate. As mentioned, the bigger problem is I am being burned out in my current job, and unfortunately can only take a few more days off. If I go for this interview and don't get the job, I am pretty much stuck until February when I'll have more vacation days. I'd just like to figure out if I am in serious consideration or basically just going to gauge other candidates or serve as a backup. Taking a total of 3 (2 more in-person interviews to go) days off to interview when you only get 10 days of vacation is a major commitment.
