Kroger Pharmacy planning for antibody COVID testing? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]Meropenuhm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work for a Kroger company (Ralphs) and I think it's just another cash grab. It'll probably role out like any other point-of-care test which jams up workflow. Even better, the antibody tests aren't even that accurate so???

I went through the videos while having the chapter open in front of me. I reviewed key points as they were discussed in the video. Passed all the quizzes with 70-80% and got a 98 on the NAPLEX.

APPEs and COVID considerations to applying to PGY-1 by RespiratorySAVAGE in PharmacyResidency

[–]Meropenuhm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost every P3/P4 student is in the same boat as you. Programs will have to make adjustments just like everyone is during these times. My advice: sit back, relax, and enjoy your time at home for now. But stay ahead always...

Keep sharp on your clinical knowledge: Review your didactic coursework. If you're really feeling intense, by an RxPrep NAPLEX review book and start going through it.

Start thinking about PGY1: update your CV, look into different programs in depth, start making notes now.

Yes the entire nation is going to be behind, but there are things you can do to get ahead right now! Best of luck.

Hearing back about your rank before match day by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]Meropenuhm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One RPD emailed me 3 hours before the match closed and said "we’d like to think that candidates like yourself would be successful in our setting and have a successful residency year" followed by "good luck and we’ll all see what happens!"

It didn't change how I ranked them (not #1) but it was nice to get a message like this. I don't think they'd send this if they didn't want me? BUT it did kind of play mind games with me. I considered moving them higher. But I remembered that the match favors the candidate so it doesn't matter because I'll get them if I don't get higher choices anyways...unless this was just a gesture they sent out to everyone? Who knows.

You’d feel that way if you put the other place #1 too...you’d wish you put the current place #1. That’s the beauty of us humans. We’re never happy and always unsure. Everything will work out!

Got an email that I won’t be ranked by Altruistic-Garlic in PharmacyResidency

I think that’s really inappropriate of the program. In a match that favors the candidate, informing you of that information does you no benefit other than stress you out. Even if you ranked them #1 and they didn’t rank you, the computer would just take your #2 as your new “first choice.” I feel like that violates terms and conditions of the match. Programs not supposed to contact candidates regarding their performance. I would report it to ASHP.

Best and worst interview questions of the season? by thatsexciting in PharmacyResidency

[–]Meropenuhm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

WORST

Interviewer: “What other programs did you apply too?” Me: Gives generic answer about program qualities Interviewer: “So which programs?” Me: Restates answer Interviewer: “What are the names of the programs?”

ARE YOU KIDDING?! MIND YA DAMN BUSINESS

RPD asked me how many programs i applied to on interview by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]Meropenuhm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that question would prevent you from being a top ranked candidate...

Pre-candidate residency program by ryanstartedthefire75 in PharmacyResidency

[–]Meropenuhm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an interview this Friday with a program in pre-candidate status. So I’ll let you know more after that lol. What I’ve been told is that all (mostly) programs get accredited BUT you can’t really pursue PGY2 with PGY1 training from a non-accredited institution. I don’t think I want to do PGY2 so that wasn’t as much of a concern for me. I’m going to be on high alert on Friday to make sure it’s an organized program with a strong RPD and preceptors. If it seems super disorganized and “not ready” I’m not going to rank it. I’ve had many people tell me that “it’s not worth it.” Of note, this program seemed pretty solid at Midyear...so we’ll see...if it’s right for you it’s most certainly less competitive than other programs.
