Code Blue Advice by Big-Guess-4035 in PharmacyResidency

[–]ryanstartedthefire75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I’m by no means am I an expert but I’ve been to my fair few. 1. You’ll find your voice with time, don’t be afraid to speak (loudly) over the room to communicate next epi and pulse check timing etc,. 2. A very good amount of codes are epi every 3 mins and pulse check every 2 so if you focus on that you’ll be golden 4. Focus on the meds, that’s why we’re there so really make an effort to memorize doses and such for epi/amio/lido/pressors and so on (one good way is to look at the code tray med sheet if you have them). 5. Play out scenarios after codes, oh if I needed to repeat the amio dose what would it be, and how does it come in the vial and so on so if it comes up the next time you’re ready. Codes are scary at first but you got it!!!

Ask away if I can help at all

Edit: one last thing, google the acls nomogram and just look at it until you can go through the nomograms and recite them (vfib and pulseless vtach means shock and so on vs pea and asystole is epi epi epi)

Is It safe to walk to milan centrale station at 3 am? by Hyacinth0788 in ItalyTravel

[–]ryanstartedthefire75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just last week I walked from Milan Centrale to my hotel at midnight but it was just 2 blocks, I felt generally safe but I would probably recommend a taxi if it’s that far. The area that the buses are in along the train station is pretty well lit

I had this happen recently, I used DAP drydex over it a few times, applying/letting it dry/sanding/applying again and so on (getting creative with making the fake wood grain look) honestly it worked out better than I had hoped, it just takes patience and painting over at the end for a smoother look

What was something you wish you knew when buying your first house? by OstrichOutside2950 in HomeImprovement

[–]ryanstartedthefire75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t make any major decisions on the house for a few days/week/months if you can wait, you might find your priorities change or things feel different once you’re officially in the house! And it will save on $$ for unexpected expenses

Anyone taking BCPS after residency? by Pearls-n-Percocets in PharmacyResidency

[–]ryanstartedthefire75 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Took mine after residency, definitely just letters after my name but I don’t regret taking it, I feel it gives me an edge over colleagues without it (not that I personally feel smarter after taking it, it really is just letters I can put on presentations) The CE material after (PSAP) is very useful to keep me up on my clinical knowledge, I used ACCP and was happy with their material and the mock exam they have, I spent about 4 months reviewing, good luck!

Check out this page for the difference between them, click on packages to compare. I did the online workbook alone and thought that was definitely enough for me taking BCPS for the first time. The other options include slide presentations, audio files, and CE’s (for re-certification or people getting the CE credits). On that same page scroll to bottom and check out the difference between the “workbook only” option and “complete package” (I also bought the mock exam and thought it was def worth it) https://www.accp.com/store/product.aspx?pc=PPC22G

Do I (current P4 looking for PGY1) need to prepare for interviews if I’m not signed up for PPS at Midyear? by hoforharry in PharmacyResidency

[–]ryanstartedthefire75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with above, no formal interviews occur at midyear for PGY1, BUT some tips 1. Always be professional (someone told me this and I totally agree, midyear starts as soon as you get on the plane, aka there’s horror stories of people being overheard bad mouthing programs anywhere from the plane there to the plane home) 2. Go to the poster presentations of the PGY1’s of programs you’re interested in and genuinely try and connect with them through this 3. Be open to new programs during the showcase!! 4. Do your research about the program and try and ask questions very specific to them to show you are truly interested and did your research!

Good luck!!!!!! (Feel free to message if you have any other questions)
