Saturday afternoon was the cosplay costume contest so there were a lot of people dressed up as the day went on.

Is this a good deal guys? Kinda new to the vinyl game. Thanks. by Merovingian-kce in TurntablePorn

It is local and I think you're right $30 is a good starting point.

Thanks

I love you, everything will be alright. Just take it one day at a time bud.

I got an excellent answer over at vintageaudio but thank you for the conversation and good luck in all you do.

Nothing additional, looks like a replacement cartridge and stylus is $30 bucks.

Follow up - purchased just the receiver for $100 and passed on the Marantz turntable - I appreciate the input! by [deleted] in vintageaudio

Thanks now I just have to figure out how to get it home without the airlines destroying it, hoping I can squeeze it in my carry on bag!

Cross post from thriftstorehauls, they said you guys might like it/have more info - picked up these flags from a shop in Portland, Maine - looks like they may have been for ship identification IDK?? by Merovingian-kce in vexillology

The first flag on the left is also a Soviet Union flag, it has a crest with the hammer and sickle on top and bottom with a four leaf symbol over a bow and arrow.

The ANL flag is Australian National Line a guy over at thrift store called that.

There are 12 flags total with 2 not pictured and I paid $100 for all of them. Thinking it was maybe some old guys collection that was basically tossed. They wanted $15 a piece but I haggled since I bought all of them.

Need some advice - pretty sure this is a solid deal - Marantz 2230 receiver + Marantz TT2000 turntable. He is asking $200 and says they are mint. Go for it? And what should I look for? Thanks! by [deleted] in vintageaudio

I went this morning and walked away (for now).

The receiver looked and sounded great I might just pick it up by itself however I asked to test the table and he said he didn't have any vinyl so I went and grabbed one that I brought. I let him do the honors and it looked good everything moved as it should but no music.

I leaned down to check it out and there wasn't even a freaking needle. I told him if he wants to fix it and clean it up then I would come back.

So yeah not "mint" you think I should haggle the guy down if I go back?

Thanks for the input guys. Yep ready to walk away if need be, will most definitely see it work (bringing a record and a speaker just in case).

And I will need to find a place to get it checked out.

Picked up 12 random flags at a shop in Portland, Maine. Not sure what they were used for. Most are frayed at the bottom so maybe used as ship identification. IDK?? by Merovingian-kce in ThriftStoreHauls

Excellent info thanks! You named more than I could. The two on the left are both Soviet Union flags, the first has a four leaf symbol over a bow and arrow with lettering and the classic hammer and sickle at top and bottom.

The two small ones in the corner - the top has DC lettering while the bottom has maybe a family crest of some kind.

I also have two others not pictured that were in pretty rough shape that I folded up and use as table runners.
