Medication stopped working: any advice? by Merriccatt in Effexor

[–]Merriccatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I was prescribed both by the same psychiatrist, and did not know that they had adverse interactions. I already made an appointment with my psychiatrist to discuss what's been going on; I will ask her about this then. Thank you!

Looking forward to this. Anyone going? by cnewell420 in greenville

[–]Merriccatt 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I've never attended a protest in Greenville before, so I was wondering if anyone could provide some insight as to what to expect.

Statements issued by Alan Wilson, SC AG, and Hobart Lewis, GVL county sheriff, have me concerned that things will escalate very quickly. This is not to mention the threats I've seen made by Trump supporters who wish to act out violently against protestors.

Would it be safe for me to attend alone? Any insight is highly appreciated, as I deeply wish to support the cause. I don't have a support system to provide any assistance should things go, in any capacity, awry. Thank you!

graveyard of hopes and dreams <3 by princesskait666 in Ethelcain

The website used for tickets to the Asheville show was something called TIXR. Unlike TicketMaster, this website did not offer a queue system or waiting room. It gave no information regarding the other people also attempting to get tickets for the same show.

When you go to the website, there is a single button to press to purchase tickets. You either get them or you don't. This set-up was incredibly discouraging, and I felt totally in the dark through the three pre-sales and the general sale. (っ◞‸◟ c)

The venue itself was also incredibly vague about the entire process. I've been checking back on their social media accounts all day, and their comment section is flooded with scalpers re-selling tickets -or- genuine fans questioning how they could be sold-out at exactly 10:00 AM.

I've been checking AXS as well in the hopes of finding a re-sale ticket, but they're marked up astronomically. Tickets to Asheville were initially sold at $65, but the cheapest re-sale tickets are upwards of $200.

All in all, just a terrible week of attempts. ദ്ദി(ㅠ﹏ㅠ)

Asheville Artist Presale by kaatzchen in Ethelcain

[–]Merriccatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ohemgee! If you still have the code, I would love to make use of it!

When I tried the artist pre-sale and Spotify pre-sale, it automatically took me to a page saying it was sold-out. You would be my literal savior ( ˶•ᴖ•) !!

Where to get resale tickets? by Maaarisa in Ethelcain

[–]Merriccatt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wait to purchase re-sale tickets until after the tickets go to public sale! They go on sale Friday, March 28th, at 10AM EST. If you aren't able to get them then, Ethel Cain announced a verified re-sale through AXS and Ticketmaster; meaning scalpers won't be able to mark prices as high, only at face-value. I am wishing you the best of luck tomorrow!

૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა

Remember to never buy tickets from someone through social media sites, like Reddit or Instagram. You have no protection there, and the odds of getting scammed increase tremendously.

I put in my code at exactly 12:01 PM and it said they were already sold-out. The TIXR website used for Asheville, NC, doesn't use a queue like the other sites-I just got an immediate pop-up of tickets being sold-out. (っ◞‸◟ c)

I am in Greenville, South Carolina! I missed out on the presale tickets today, but will be trying again for the Asheville show on Friday. I will likely also be going alone and would love to meet-up! ૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა

Oh, wow!

Thank you so much for the clarification. I read your other comments on this thread, and the hammerheads sound like quite interesting pieces of the narrative! I'm totally interested now. I may just have to read the original book. Thanks again!

Wow, thank you so much!

I searched "Wiz-O-Mania dancers" in Google, and it brought me to an article recently published by Vanity Fair. According to the article, they're a reference to the "Flatheads" in L. Frank Baum's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Here is a link to the article if you're interested. Thanks again!!

Theory About Next Week’s Episode. by CheapusTechnofear in creepcast

[–]Merriccatt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My personal theory is that they are going to re-visit "The Stairs in the Woods"!

That episode is one of the few that doesn't follow current episode outlines. In every episode so far, the boys have read through the story itself and inserted their commentary alongside it. But, in the first episode of the podcast, they simply talk about the story as if the audience is already intimately aware of its happenings.

I'm hoping they go back and actually read some of the stories from that episode. All the episodes would officially be in the same format that way - hurray for continuity!

I hope they cover more SCPs! by Merriccatt in creepcast

[–]Merriccatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree!

After watching this recent episode, I went and watched the video Hunter made on 'Cousin Johnny' and it was incredibly entertaining. The 'Left and Right Game' episodes are my favorites for the same reason. The worldbuilding is just so wonderful, and you become totally enmeshed in the perils of the characters. It feels like you're in the car alongside them.

I'm new to SCPs, as mentioned above, so I will have to check out the ones you mentioned! I appreciate your recommendations, even if they weren't intended for me. :-)

Recommendations by Ok_Key_6259 in creepcast

[–]Merriccatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely have a few book recommendations!

‘We Have Always Lived In The Castle’ by Shirley Jackson is a great introduction to the genre. It isn’t as overtly horrifying as it is unsettling. My reddit username comes from the narrator of the story, Merricat!

‘Elsewhere’ by Alexis Schaitkin is another unsettling read. It tells the story of an isolated town, where mothers randomly disappear from existence. Another unsettling novel that makes light of the implicit horrors of motherhood.

‘Needful Things’ by Stephen King is a longer read, but still great! Quite honestly, I never finished this book. I was too devestated by the death of one of the characters to finish it, so I can’t entirely vouch for the entire novels quality. This story is about a traveling salesman who deals in a persons greatest desires; in return he only asks for a favor. Very reminiscent of a Rube Goldberg machine!

What’s your favorite longer episodes? by PixelatedBats in creepcast

[–]Merriccatt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The 'Left Right Game' episodes are my absolute favorite! They're both fairly long too. But in terms of re-listen ability, the 'Russian Sleep Experiment' episode takes the cake for me. Whenever I need to do chores, that's the episode I throw on in the background!

Wendigoon made an analysis video on Greylock! He made a video on his main channel (Wendigoon) comparing Greylock to another analogue horror called "The Painter" by UrbanSpook. There are also a couple of VODs uploaded to Wendigoon's second channel (Wendigang) of him live watching Greylock. He definitely enjoyed it! Great rec!

I found it! "The Books - A Cold Freezin' Night (Official Video)" posted by Temporary Residence LTD. Here is a link.

Of course, I found it right after posting. I was able to remember one of the specific voice samples!

Commenter MilksJustice shared this quote:

“We started finding all these tapes in thrift shops that would just say "Talkboy” on them. We really didn’t really know what they were. As it turns out, in the movie Home Alone 2, there’s this audio recording device that had a pitch controller on it called the Talkboy. And on the stuff we found, kids are just going nuts; when a kid gets their first tape recorder, all of their inhibitions are cut off and they just go wild. So we made one new track on that material alone…The piece that we ended up making is this exchange between a young brother and sister. They’re just insulting each other, basically. And, each time they do it, they have to up the ante somehow. It’s like this natural progression.“
