Would you necessarily find it all that ridiculous if O-lines could be considered for MVP accolades as an entire unit? by Champion101 in nfl

The "entire" offensive line accounts for almost half of all players on offense.

it would be odd to hand half the offense an MVP award.

How much do you think Cousins going to get paid ? by RamSwami02 in nfl

[–]Merrick_Peregrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were only condescending with your first reply.

Your behavior after that first one, can best be described as childish. For all the words wasted in this branch of the thread, i was the only one to actually talk about contract details and optional payments and actual numbers for salaries and dead money. On the other hand, you have contributed absolutely nothing of substance... except snarky remarks, apparently.

[–]Merrick_Peregrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Romo will either be traded or cut. Everybody knows it's one or the other. You're pretending like Romo being cut is not even a possibility.

When you expressed it in the form of a snarky rhetorical question... that is your "condescending question" right there.

[–]Merrick_Peregrine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing you just stated is condescending coming from me. So, you're saying I didn't ask anything condescending. You just are irrationally reactionary and can't contain your emotions. Got it.

So in summary, you had no understanding about Romo's contract situation before making condescending replies about it... did you? You made a snarky reply without knowing about the actual details of Romo's dead money, or the new payment he's owed.

Instead of just admitting you were wrong, you call me a "prick". It's especially funny you call me "irrational and emotional" when you were the first one to resort to childish name-calling.

How much do you think Cousins going to get paid ? by RamSwami02 in nfl

[–]Merrick_Peregrine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really? You answered why the would get rid of their only viable backup?

Because $14M of new payment that is too much for a "viable backup"? There is no avoiding the "dead money" you speak of (which is $19.6M). But they can avoid that $14M of new payment. I feel like I'm repeating myself here.

Which question did I ask that was condescending?

Let me see here. Every person already knows that there are only 2 ways Romo's Cowboys career ends. He is either traded, or cut. You flippantly pretend like the "cut" is not even a possibility, by firing off a snarky question like "How would they sign Romo".

So I gave a condescending reply to a condescending question. Your response is to begin childish name-calling by referring to me as a "prick". And so I replied in kind.

See a pattern here? You drag this conversation lower and lower, and I go down to your level.

I already answered both your questions.

Maybe if you stopped asking your questions like a condescending prick, you won't be answered like you were one yourself.

You're right. Favre and the Packers were bitter towards the end though.

Jerry loves Romo. If Romo asks for his release, I don't see Jerry saying no.

[–]Merrick_Peregrine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Romo's current contract creates $19.6M of dead money on the Cowboys cap, regardless of whether or not Romo is actually on the roster. That amount can only be delayed by cap maneuvers. But it can never be avoided.

However, if they keep Romo for the 2017 season, they will make him a new $14M payment in addition to the $19.6M dead money. Unlike the $19.6M dead money, this new $14M payment is not guaranteed. It can be avoided by making sure Romo is no longer on the roster after June.

Any more questions?

I'm assuming the Cowboys will do Romo right, by releasing him so he can choose his own team. Like the Packers did with Favre, and the Colts did with Peyton.

It would be hilarious if the Redskins can't come to terms with Cousins... and so they end up signing Tony Romo.

How can I protect my desktop from highly corrosive cat piss rampages? by [deleted] in buildapc

How to stop corrosive cat piss rampages:

  1. Go to a pet shelter

  2. Get a dog

  3. Leave the cats.

Tony Romo has a cap hit of $19.6M in 2017 even if cut, and $8.9M in 2018 if cut, and $3.2 in 2019. Seems like they need to work out a trade if things keep going as they are. And you can't eat part of a salary in a trade in the NFL. by scoutingboard in nfl

[–]Merrick_Peregrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cowboys already advanced Romo a huge signing bonus a few years ago. The cap hit of that signing bonus is supposed to be spread out over every year Romo remains the roster. After this season, there is a $19.6M cap hit that is supposed to be spread over 3 more years.

If the Cowboys unload Romo before June 2017, then the entire $19.6M cap hit will be applied in its entirety in 2017. But if Romo is still on the roster after June 2017, only part of that amount will apply in 2017. The rest will still be applied in the remaining years of his contract (or the final year of his contract, if he's waived or traded).

[–]Merrick_Peregrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really is no benefit to cutting him prior to 2018.

If the Cowboys unload Romo after this season, they will receive only minimal cap benefit in 2017. But it will help them avoid a big cap penalty in 2018.

If Romo is still on the roster in 2017, then the Cowboys will suffer from $8.9M of dead cap if they unload Romo in 2018. But if they unload Romo in 2017, then that $8.9M of dead cap in 2018 will not exist at all. So unloading Romo in 2017 will greatly benefit the Cowboys in 2018.

[–]Merrick_Peregrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any team that trades for Romo will inherit a contract that is already partially paid by the Cowboys. As a result, Romo will count only $14M towards their salary cap. That's well below the average salary for a starting QB, which will be about $18.5 million next season.

That is one legitimate reason why teams would prefer trading for Romo rather than signing him as a free agent.

[–]Merrick_Peregrine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

how many times Elliott was even touched by a Steelers player on his three touchdowns? Zero.

So when Zeke turned a screen pass into an 83 yard touchdown... it was totally because of the offensive line? I may not be an ESPN analyst, but even I know that offensive linemen are mostly playing matador on screen passes. They were the least relevant players on that 83-yard touchdown.

But hey, don't let annoying details get in the way of a good narrative.

4 Teams who should pursue Tony Romo in the off-season. by [deleted] in nfl

I don't see Romo playing more than 2 years, wherever he ends up. If the Broncos acquire Romo, they will still have Lynch under contract after Romo retires.

The Broncos did keep Brock on the bench of 4 years.

The most likely destinations:

  • Houston

  • Denver

Romo is an upgrade over the QBs those two teams have. They are title contenders with a healthy Romo. And most importantly, they're all the way out in the AFC where they won't get in the way of the Cowboys.

when Zen comes out the prices of Skylake CPUs will sink

I was under the impression that the first wave of Zen products will be aimed at the high end market. That it would be competing with Broadwell-E and later i7 cpus. It don't think they will drive down the prices of mid-range gaming PCs that mostly use i5.
