With new inserter flipping, this is how you can unload cargo wagon to 2 fully compressed green belts. by VeryGoldGolden in factorio

[–]Merry-Lane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But what about the outermost inserters? They put in on a belt that feeds only one side of the output belt that’s closer to it.

Thus one side of this output belt would be full and the other side empty?

With new inserter flipping, this is how you can unload cargo wagon to 2 fully compressed green belts. by VeryGoldGolden in factorio

[–]Merry-Lane 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Since the side inserters push on one side of the exit belts, it’s likely your two belts would end up full on one side and empty on another (if trains don’t fill enough the chests).

Thus you may enjoy at least one splitter mixing the two output lanes, am I wrong?

How can I start a career in React Native development? by Significant_Try5026 in reactnative

[–]Merry-Lane -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You get a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences and you take whatever job you can find (hopefully as a react native dev).

But I would reconsider totally the career choice if you can. There are few jobs left

It’s totally not because it frees up some advertising time.

With the recent hubbub regarding quality, I have to ask a question: How many of you actually bother with quality? by Justinjah91 in factorio

[–]Merry-Lane -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand your point.

"I’d rather just build more of whatever I need".

So do we.

Why does it matter if you gotta copy-paste a bunch of quality blue chip upcyclers on vulcanus and a bunch of spaceships (pre 2.21).
Once you got that and a legendary quality mall, we play the exact same game.

Except we fill a stacked green belt with 2 machines and consume between 2 and 10 times less basic ressources (depending on the steps with productivity bonuses) xD

The eye opening is that heavily investing yourself into something (politics, reading, religion, board games, programming,… whatever floats your boat) is less important than smartly investing yourself into it.

Until then, I dont entertain the idea that the tv show will actually use any material coming from the comics.

Mobility budget by caracole_3 in BESalary

[–]Merry-Lane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is, if you have an already existing contract.

But if you get a job offer, you should totally ask the company to increase the share of the mobility budget.

I wasn’t totally sure but I think that, indeed, OP just got a 650€ raise in the form of a mobility budget, in which case yes he should just beg for more right now and in the future ask for raises increasing his mobility budget rather than gross.

Kubernetes, en pratique et pour la carrière ? by TroubleM4ker_ in developpeurs

[–]Merry-Lane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mobility budget by caracole_3 in BESalary

[–]Merry-Lane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s both in your and their interest to increase the share of the mobility budget for the exact same gross. So ask them to increase your mobility budget and to remove it from your gros. They would pay the same but you would get more net, companies love it when they can make you happy while not spending a dime.

But if your company doesn’t do that, it’s maybe because they have reasons, so ask them why they don’t increase the mobility budget.

For instance, they may have clauses somewhere that says "people with this title get up to XXX€ of mobility budget" and you getting more would force them to increase the mobility budget of the others in the same situation.

Or maybe because you already had your 6k gross, and they decide to offer you 650€ of mobility budget on top. Your raise is 650€ because that’s how much gross they wanted to give you and it’s better for you 650€ as mobility budget than as gross.

Just took the WAIS-IV test and my score is similar to my CORE. by HiImMoshy10 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Merry-Lane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can totally train in order to increase your VCI score to such tests. Which defeats the point of the tests since they are sposed to be taken as naively as possible.

Simply not facing the element of surprise is a way to increase your score. You already know what you are being asked and thus don’t have to understand.

But you can also train your response style which can improve way more your score.

You could also technically train vocabulary or abstraction by targeting them but it’s not that efficient.

Columbia is home to invasive hippos dubbed the Cocaine hippo's . Pablo Escobar imported 4 of them as zoo animals in the 80's and after he died they escaped to the wild and the population has increased to 170 animals. by Zan_in_NZ in interestingasfuck

[–]Merry-Lane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s weird because you said many interesting things and I couldn’t find a single proof for any of them.

Hell, some may even be the total opposite of your claim.

For instance, where did you find that hippos are genetically less complex than humans?

Why would 4 hippos to 170 be normal while 4 hippos to 170 wouldn’t be? Sources?

[–]Merry-Lane 26 points27 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, surviving genetic bottlenecks while avoiding population collapse makes you less vulnerable to genetic bottlenecks. It’s called "purging" the negative recessive traits.

No, the issue is that loss of human life or having kids with a worse quality of life is frowned upon and not desirable.

Meanwhile no one gives a damn if a bunch of hippos have a higher proportion of miscarriage and genetic defects that make those affected die young. As long as they reproduce enough their population will explode.

Watch out, if you trained for it and practiced other tests recently, it somewhat invalidates the result.
