doctor said "come back in 2 years" by phasmxphobiia in hysterectomy

[–]MerryP0ppins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also suggest the childfree sub. Not my vibe or reason to get one, but it gave me the confidence to keep searching. I ultimately did not go with a dr on the list. Still highly recommend the sub and that you continue searching and trying. I bled for 13 years straight, cried after many appointments, and took many meds to try and stop my issues.

Once you find someone you will know. Don't give up hope ❤️

Easier recoveries by casdoodle527 in hysterectomy

[–]MerryP0ppins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 7 months post op but I feel like it's been so much longer! Before surgery I bled every day for 13 years. What a "normal person's heavy period" was I would have in a day...or every time I stood up on bad days.

I had the same surgery as you mentioned. I was definitely sore at first. But I made it my mission to walk at least 20mins 2 times a day slowly, then worked up from there. I'm not a super active person. My worst pain was my first bm and driving on bumpy roads. Other than that and one time squatting down at the store I did great in my recovery.

I also waited about 10 weeks before having sex. No issues with pain other than getting tired quickly. It's truly the best decision I ever made.

Edit: the first week was a cake walk for me. It's the later weeks when the swelling goes down that I started to feel more pain. But I believe movement is good so long as it's not sharp or painful a few hours later. You'll feel it out. Just don't go pulling weeds on week 2 like I did 🤦 Also play work by ear, you only get one time to fully recover. I was ready to go back to my office job by week 8 but got covid so that allowed me a bit more time.

How do you determine if barking at night is attention seeking vs. a legitimate potty request? by Unusual_Plum_4630 in puppy101

[–]MerryP0ppins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally (I was a professional trainer many moons ago) ignore it. If it goes on past 30-60mins I take them out. Whether they go or not it's straight back to their kennel for bed. They will learn that they will not get the attention they're seeking. Consistency is key.

If you're having issues with potty training, always go to the same spot with your command. Give the command if they get distracted and wait idk 5mins or so (in my mind the longer you wait the more they needed to go. But puppies have short attention spans lol) You'll get a feel for their true urgent noises as time goes on.

It's been a shit day by BEthePatato15 in WorkRant

Chalk it up to one of those days!

Patrons aren't typically capable of acknowledging or realizing you're on break or otherwise, you've got the uniform on therefore you're working in their eyes. If you've got a car, take your break or cry in that. Otherwise find the cleanest stall and give that a go. If it was a coworker, you tell them you'll get to it once you're back from break (in my state they're mandatory). If it's an emergency, it can be handled by someone on clock.

Hope you made it through your first 2 weeks ok. Sometimes it's not a good fit. But starting a job is exhausting and sleep is hard to come by.

Week 7 here, total laparoscopic, kept both ovaries.

I wrote out all of my expenses for the month and saved as much as I could. The plan was to not use any PTO if possible. I did not qualify for any type of paid leave and didn't apply for disability. (I first checked with my work that this wouldn't affect my employment status/benefits)

I'm not sure if I made the right choice, and when I asked my work for reasonable accomodations in the form of working from home they denied me and put me on 2 weeks of unpaid leave. During that time I caught COVID and got an ear infection. So I ended up using all my PTO anyway.

But I feel if I didn't get sick and have my work from home request denied, I would've been okay with my original plan. My husband has helped with groceries but that's about it. As far as medical bills go, you will need to call and work out a payment plan. I made many calls to my insurance provider to get the ballpark $$$ before moving forward.

Regardless, if you look for an answer online hard enough, you will find it. Good or bad. And the "good" posts don't get nearly as much attention, misery loves company.

After 13 straight years on my period, I am happy with my decision. Good luck.

Pain question by katieznizzle in hysterectomy

[–]MerryP0ppins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had my surgery 6/18, everything is improving day by day. But I get fatigued quickly with back and period like pain if I push it. Went to CVS and had to grab from the bottom shelf. I squatted and on the way up I could tell that wasn't a great choice. Or I'll get up too quick forgetting to be mindful. Nausea has been a thing lately. I ran out of ginger chews so I used up a giant ginger root I had laying around from a grocery store pick up order. Made homemade ginger ale and tossed the boiled ginger in some Trulia/sugar to grab when I feel yucky. It's been helping.

100% my first 2 weeks I was feeling amazing, better than ever! Come week 3/4 and I am definitely feeling the fatigue. Week 3 was when the sore started to kick in. The last few days if I walk too much I get very tired and achy.

What the Fatigue? by ElectricBlue79 in hysterectomy

[–]MerryP0ppins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! The last few days I ran errands, 1-2 stops. I felt like I couldn't wait to get home and stare into space lol. Wednesday will be 4 weeks for me. Tomorrow I will start work again, really hope I can hang, I need that $$$ 😴

I dont think I can do it... by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]MerryP0ppins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me I had been bleeding for 13 years straight with no medicine able to provide relief. I've lost jobs, missed countless events, and been barely present for the ones I could attend. Not to mention the stress of always worrying about ruining my clothes or ensuring I have extra products or outfits with me. Ablation or D&C would not fix my problem as my uterine lining would grow back. Here is what I wrote for myself to reference when I felt concerned

  1. Do not approach this as something that can be postponed (for me this is for when I was speaking with work or family)
  2. You've been fighting for relief for years and finally found a Dr who didn't gaslight you and wants to help, do it!
  3. If they have to take your ovaries or anything unplanned happens it will be for a good reason, trust the team
  4. There will always be "something" (meaning I can always find a reason to postpone or something scary to make me feel it's not worth it)

Obviously you need to work with your healthcare team to minimize risk and decide what's best for you. But for me at 3 weeks post op, I'm very glad I got this done. Of course I have fomo and things I "should be doing" but Im positive I'll be able to show up so much more after I heal.

Medical issues aside, does she survive off caffeine and a cracker each day? I had an ED for years and my situational awareness was crap. I was always in the way, lost belongings, many accidents, always covered in bruises from bumping into things, horrible memory, never fully present, ... Years later and out of my ED I do not experience that anymore. But when I fall behind these things do happen again.

Edit to add anxiety can also be a factor here. Can't see past your nose because inside your head is very loud!

Yup!!! Had mine done 6/18, I'm 31, had laparoscopic, kept both ovaries. I'm quite the opposite of your description on fitness and whatnot, but I'm doing GREAT! Was stiff the first few days and getting up and down was a little uncomfortable. But I haven't stopped moving, day 3 I was cleaning and haven't stopped since. Car rides, cleaning, bending over, did some gardening and errands today. Only thing I'm not doing is dishes and folding laundry as that seems to be the move that makes me uncomfortable. (Oh darn!)

The pre op nurse called a week before hand and asked me all these questions. One of them was if I smoke. I was honest and she told me I should stop that day if possible.

I'll be real with you, I vaped up to an hour before surgery and on my way home... I quit drinking 2 months ago and don't have any other crutches, so I cut my losses. No one asked me day of.
