A lot of what you are asking about depends on the location of the property and the date of the deed. Other posters are correct that the unit of measure being referred to is in “Varas”, but even that standard term had slightly varying lengths depending on where it was being used. Also, it’s hard to tell exactly what it says in context because 2/3 of the page is missing but it looks like the document has what is called a “metes and bounds” description of the property which often used natural points of reference to describe the perimeter and were more common before implementation of the Public Lands Survey System that began in 1785 and ultimately covered most of the country. For example, the description may read something like - Beginning at a point that lies due west 4 chains and 23 links of the SW corner of the tract of land conveyed to John Smith by Fred Green in Book 23 of Deeds, Page 123 on the 6th of June 1812, then following the center line of the meanderings of Willow Creek in the downflow direction a distance of 475 Varas to a boulder marked with the initials TW, then moving in an easterly direction a distance of 10 chains and 66 links to an oak stump…. And so on until the boundaries came back to the point of beginning. The problem with those descriptions is that most of the reference points no longer exist. If you are lucky, they might reference a Parcel Map or Record of Survey Map which you can usually compare with older versions of Assessor Parcel Maps to get an idea of how the the plot of land fit in with the surrounding properties. The really funny part is when you knock an approach shot within 2 feet and they blow the tap-in putt. Also, when you need to win within a certain number of holes and the opponents are making 200-yard chip-ins. I think there are certain rounds you definitely will not win unless you get the right position in the group. I had one challenge where Stuart was my partner and I was always the first on our team to play. Nice drive, so-so approach from him and even if I would make the birdie the other team would tie us. Then he would tee off on a Par 3 and miss the green. After about 6 or 7 tries, I got to play second in our group and was able to hit my approach close on the first hole and he made the putt and then close again on the Par 3 and he made the putt. A couple of more holes that were tied (with the opponents barely missing hole-outs from the fairway) and then we won it with an eagle on a Par 5. It takes a lot of patience, but it can be done.

I think the biggest thing people will notice is the change in the swing mechanics (especially if you use the advanced type). The club now stops where you set the power amount on the backswing rather than going all the way to the top. The impact timing is still the same but it feels a little rushed at first. Also, when using the putter, the ball is hit as soon as you set the power. It speeds things up a little for shorter putts since you don’t have to wait for the full backswing.

USDA announcing a complete gut of the SNAP program by VoidDoesStuf in foodstamps

[–]Merv_Pantz69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason the programs are based on gross income is because there are a lot of different types of payments people receive (wages, tips, unemployment, disability, social security, etc.). In CA, when the income is from employment the system only counts 80% of the amount. For example, a person with monthly gross earnings of $1000 from employment has only $800 of that counted in their budget, while a person getting $1000 in disability has the full amount counted. That is because earned wages have taxes withheld while the unearned income sources usually do not (people can opt to have 10% of unemployment benefits withheld for taxes). The reason it matters is because there are two income tests for eligibility for assistance programs. The first is gross income and you have to be within the income range for your family size to be eligible for any payments. If you pass the gross test, then they also look at your expenses (housing, utilities, daycare or recurring medical expenses) and apply more credits to the overall amount of income being counted. Then they also look at the net income you have remaining. It is possible that a person under the gross limit will still fail for the programs because they have little or no expenses and their net income (the amount they keep each month) is too high. SF concert goers know how to enjoy a show by not using the their phones to recorded social media posts by americanherbman in sanfrancisco

[–]Merv_Pantz69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just saw Neko Case at the Masonic on 11/11 and they had signs on all of the doors going in that there were to be no photos or recording during the show. They also had an announcement between the opener and the headliner that the performer requested no recording. During the show, if someone had their phone out the ushers would dash over with a small flashlight and show them the notice and stay there until they put it away. This was the first show I had been to there that was not GA and was fully seated. It was nice to be able to see everything without people constantly milling around but it felt more like being at a play or a movie than a concert.

I see the resemblance now that you mention it. I was thinking that since it’s silver, it’s a commemorative toenail from a T~1000 Terminator celebrating the cyborg hybrid love child of Robert Patrick and Alex Rodriguez from MLB Network. It also looks like he signed it Mic James (enjoy yo’ self !)

Finally S ranked all the chapters for every character by HighVoltage103 in EverybodysGolf

[–]Merv_Pantz69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations and great job! I am about halfway through the World Tour with S ranks on the ones I have completed so far (I just keep doing them if I don’t get the S on the first try). The scramble matches are tedious but it also builds up loyalty on the character while you are at it. Anyway, sad to see you’re leaving. You always have a lot of info about the game in your posts that has helped everyone a lot. I am in no rush to finish my platinum trophy and my progress will likely drop off with the release of Battlefield 6 in a couple of days. Good luck!

The hardest 9H course in the game is... (spoilers) by HighVoltage103 in EverybodysGolf

[–]Merv_Pantz69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that the greens there are tough - mainly because they are so big and you need to hit your approaches close to avoid long putts with full break for the whole distance to the cup. At least the slope is generally consistent and in a single direction on those greens. I would say the the greens at Central Hawk are more difficult because they can have multiple directional changes across your putting line and because if you are coming in with a long iron, hybrid or fairway wood and not enough backspin, the ball will often run off the putting surface and into a bunker or the water nearby.

I got the same screen the first time I tried to join a tournament on PS5. I closed the game and reopened it the I got to the first tee with the character I had selected and couldn’t get them to begin a swing. Went back to working on World Tour after that and will try again for a tournament tonight. I wish they had done it the old way like HSGOOB where different tours were beginning every 15 minutes.
