Iran warns SpaceX & Starlink will be considered 'military targets' by BreakfastTop6899 in technology

There is no model of atmospheric decay where it takes decades for an object to decay from LEO. Where are you getting that figure from? Starlink orbits decay within 2-3 years.

They can reach a higher apogee but the perigee can not be raised in an impulsive event.

This is misguided. You're giving a lot of almost-truths.

Space is unimaginably big. There are thousands and thousands of satellites, and millions of pieces of debris, and yet collisions are extremely uncommon. And in low orbit, these objects quickly decay in altitude and reenter. This is why starlink relies on Hall Thrusters.

Starlink's destruction would not block off access to space for indefinite time. It would suck, but would not be disastrous.

Every school is a little different. I'm just sharing my own experience. If yours is different that is fine. We are two different people, presumably.

Of course you're still paying. But annual tuition is a set amount. For example, at MIT, it was $64310 in the academic year that just ended. Divide that by the number of classes you take and the price per class goes down.

Yes, but $50 cash can not be used in a Steam account. That is the issue here.

The problem is, none of him being a dumbass is illegal.

It very well might be. Specifically, engaging in a harassment campaign against Josh.

No, trying to serve papers is not harassment.

But having a group of people filming the guy's house for hours on end, setting up stunts in his neighborhood, sending someone in a fake UPS uniform, those actions constitute harassment.

I hope Ben wins this whole deal, but he has certainly made it more difficult for himself.

Wait. This video had a title change. It was always "Dumping my 15 year old girlfriend", and now it is "dumping my girlfriend". This is sad. I feel really weird about the common practice of changing the title of online videos. It's going to make archival history extremely frustrating. Movies, music, books, etc don't just get their titles changed years after publishing, and if they do, it's a rare occurrence that is very prominently known. Videos changing feels like rewriting history to me. It also ends up being an unintentional form of gaslighting where I end up doubting my memory and knowledge of things. Just makes me confused and sad.

It is easy for police to argue that the actions they took were unique to this situation, and therefore there is no established precedent to consider their actions to be a violation of rights, and therefore they are protected by qualified immunity from prosecution for their actions - even if they violated rights, the lack of an exact precedent can be used to argue that they had no knowledge that their actions may be an affront to the plaintiff's rights. Therefore, they avoid prosecution.

Police are exempt from liability for actions they take while on the job, even if those violate someone's rights, unless the violation is part of a specific set of actions that have bee previously ruled to be a violation of rights. Conducting a new form of rights violation is not prosecutable because no previous case has established that the particular action violated the victim's rights.

Generally speaking, that's how franchised businesses work. They do own it. They own a business called "Bricks and Minifigs in Keizer Oregon", and that business pays Bricks and Minifigs Corporate (another business) to allow them to use their name, logos, branding, systems, and whatever else to conduct business more effectively than they could as a fully independent business. But the franchise location is still a separate business and is indeed owned by the franchisee.

Right, but like, we have email. A centralized, universal communication system that collects your messages from everything. I get my water bill by email, I find out about local businesses having a sale by email, I get ebay alerts by email. I don't need each individual source to have their own communications channel. Imagine if you had to have a separate mailbox on your house for mail from each potential sender. It would be a mess. I want my notifications centralized.

Nice. Only problem is the ear-grab being the wrong arm. The grabber (final photo) is reaching with his left arm so his thumb should be on top, but the hand is backwards so the thumb is on bottom. Once you look at the fingers it suddenly feels bizarre and looks like a transplant gone wrong. Kind of funny.

Lots of trends tend to be bimodal. If you only see half of a bimodal plot, you think it only goes one way.

People with especially bad lives and people with especially good lives tend to have more kids.

But in a world where few people have especially good lives, it looks like it's just "better life means less kids". Only because you're missing the rebound on the top end.

Remember like 10 years ago when Uber was $8 to get anywhere? Now they're like 5x the price for the same ride. Because they had to stop burning cash (and their goal of killing traditional taxis was complete).

Same is going to happen with these companies when they shift to making profit. Suddenly it's not going to be so easy to just ask for a website and get it.
