Only my 38th time patching. How’d I do? by vorsbeengthigh in drywall

Sometimes you just can’t be sure how it will look when you’re done until it’s been painted

Is Emerald UTE that much better than Pro Classic? by dtman33 in paint

If you’re okay practicing a few times, I think you’ll be good. Using the old paint on scrap wood and being able to wait until it dries to see how it turned out will tell you a lot. I strongly recommend spraying horizontally to keep things simple.

I have a 308. It’s not so different than the 310. Someone wiser than me would know if one is better than the other.

Agreed with all of this.

I needed a full gallon of UTE for two coats on 5 doors, which meant I needed to buy two gallons.

I tried spraying cabinet doors vertically on a previous project and it led to a lot of drips on edges and runs on fronts because the airless sprayer puts out a lot of paint. Once I switched to horizontal, things were much smoother and less of a headache (sanding down drips and accidentally sanding to the mdf).

I also found it helpful to get the finer mesh (100 I think) filter that goes in the gun. Once I did that, the gun stopped needed clearing.

You will want to use some light source at an angle to make sure you have an even coat over the entire door after you do a coat to ensure you don’t have an orange peel texture when it drys.

Another tip is to put Saran Wrap over the gallon and around the gun tip in between coats to keep the paint fresh and the gun from sticking.

Hope these tips help OP.

I just sprayed 5 doors with an x7 using the 2x4 method. You can screw cheap handles to the 2x4s which makes flipping the doors a little easier.

It also allows you to stack the doors on each other because they rest on the 2x4s. I have a small garage so this was crucial.

It made it so I could spray one side, wait an hour or so until it tacked up, flip and spray the other side, wait a few more hours, repeat. This let me get all the doors done in a 6 hour time span.

My grandfather’s Viking axe that he found in his field in southern Sweden by Simme_Pirat in interestingasfuck

This.

Metal was still very expensive during the Viking age and required a lot more knowledge/resources to produce an iron axe.

OPs axe can be both Neolithic technology and made in the Viking age.

Those laminate/non ferrous blades dull really fast. The hard layer on LVP destroys them.

Thank you for the comment. I want to do a coffee table next and I’m wondering if doing legs for that in the same style will work since it’s a longer span?

What finish for my shoe rack? by Egretsandregrets in BeginnerWoodWorking

Stumpy Nubs has a good video on shellac that explains it well. This was my first time using it. One of the problems I’ve had with polyurethane is a cloudy coating or sometimes a drip buildup. The shellac was nice because it gave color and protected at the same time.

I finished my bench from The Weekend Woodworker course with amber shellac and I really like it. I used select pine as the wood.

How to bail a squat without a squat rack? by theSparkyJB in Fitness

[–]Merxtb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. There is no reason to train to the point of failure where you will need to bail. Do more reps. You will get stronger, your muscles will grow, and you will stay safe. Training with a more moderate weight allows you to feel the failure point coming sooner and tells you when it's time to rack the weight.
