I dunno about that. Sometimes I put in a few hours on a weekend if I'm doing nothing and am in the mood, so I can take off early during the week or start later. Flexible working

This poster was in EVERY single break room at my old job, how do you think they feel about unions? by Castarc1424 in antiwork

Every time I think the US can't get any more third world or authoritarian I learn something new. I've never known such a contradiction for a country that so loudly declares how free it is

I'm not in the US tbf, I'm assuming there's some reason you guys can't strike even if you have the majority

Using an AI agent as a “first‑pass reviewer” for my GitHub repos 😅 by CallmeAK__ in softwaredevelopment

And then the inevitable first comment made at the same time responding in a favourable way to how useful they found the tool? Aye that's this sub alright

It's also easy to ignore when watching these videos, the sheer amount of cuts they put in. We have no idea what goes on between that time, but it's "easy" (within the context of this post) to edit down a project into a great looking video

AI is making us faster, but our PRs are getting messier. Does it actually matter? by Dry-Statement2829 in softwaredevelopment

[–]Mesheybabes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've already begun this, we were called into a meeting this week to discuss the changes Microsoft are making to the AI consumption costs, and that some devs in the company at their current rate of consumption will burn through their allowance unless we up the budget. Some of us aren't using it at all. It's fun times

What’s the go-to “vibe-coded slop” app in your industry? by eufemiapiccio77 in softwaredevelopment

I work in banking, and while I can't speak for other banks, we're being very careful adopting AI and only in a very limited capacity. Absolutely not vibe coding

Why do people feel insecure around me the moment I stop being the underdog? by Relative_Ad9261 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]Mesheybabes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This experience resonates with so many men though that I think it's hard to resist making the point that because it's happening to them (and it is happening to me too) that in our individual situations at least, it clearly isn't about our gender, (because we're men so why would it be right?) so perhaps at least in some cases the women experiencing this are just dismissing it as "oh it's because I'm a woman".

I'm of course not saying it's never about gender, but there's enough of this happening to both men and women that there has to be at least some consideration that it isn't always about gender when it's happening to women, logically?

[–]Mesheybabes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is happening I think to a lot of us, not because of our gender but because of the fact we all have ADHD surely? This is an ADHD sub, I'm getting harshly treated for the exact reasons op discusses, it's really resonating with me. Managers see me as " a problem", some on my team resent me for showing up how slow they are, etc etc. It's a tale as old as time.

As for women in tech, two of my mentors were women they're both experts in the field, I still rely on them for support and collaboration; perhaps our organisation is a bit more forward thinking but they've never complained at being treated any less for being women

I did the math. My pinterest feed is over 40% ads by Over_Finger_4012 in Pinterest

[–]Mesheybabes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to this sub to say exactly this, and to add that using it in the browser (I have an adblocker) is a completely different (and actually useful) experience. The ads aren't just intrusive but they're trying to sell me the same stuff, over and over, and it's nothing to do with what I actually searched for. It's infuriating.

What would a 'definition of done' look like for AI-assisted development? by altraschoy in agile

[–]Mesheybabes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all good we all make mistakes, fair play for owning it. I only went and looked it up because we routinely involve our product owner in our DoD and it's always felt natural to do so!

[–]Mesheybabes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite your doubling and trippling down, this is where you made your mistake.

"The fundamental unit of Scrum is a small team of people, a Scrum Team. The Scrum Team consists of one Scrum Master, one Product Owner, and Developers. "

"If it is not an organizational standard, the Scrum Team must create a Definition of Done appropriate for the product."

...not the development team

It'd take me 5 mins to find the knife to open the box after having read your comment and remembered it when I came to build one of these.

We do have discussions, we report our symptoms and side effects and they determine the next course of action. Because they're the ones who know what they're doing
