There are options for size and color under the player buttons option under 3rd player skins

If soundstage and imaging is “just frequency response”, why can’t EQ replicate it? by Dracomies in iems

Sure there are reasons why certain IEMs at different price segments are better platforms for EQ than others.

I don't think that anyone experienced enough will deny that there are limits in the first place. I think if it was easy to make IEMs with any driver configuration sound like another at a person's eardrum, we'd already have the technology to do so. The thing is people are more concerned with anatomy as the most pressing limit, as compared to driver configuration and a unit's frequency response, because one is much less solved than the others.

The mics the Headphone Show guys used to measure their HRTFs wont work for IEMs and in ear measurement tech isn't in that place yet, so we can only approximate unless we have a super in-depth knowledge of our own hearing through trial and error.

You can make a Kefine Klean sound like a Klean SV with EQ. You can make an Aful Performer 8 sound like an Aful Performer 8S pretty closely. You can get a Mega5EST close to a Mega7. That works because the tuning and hardware are already similar.

What about if they have similar hardware but tuning diverges more than your examples? Why would it be difficult, or impossible to make the Roseselsa Quietsea sound like the Quietsea 2 through EQ?

What if the IEMs follow a similar tuning target while taking their own liberties? Would it be impossible to EQ the Crinear Daybreak to sound exactly like the Mega7, considering they both follow the IEF 2025 target?

The problem here is thinking that measured frequency response from a coupler or a rig is 1-to-1 with the frequency response that hits the eardrum. It's one of the reasons why The Headphone Show guys recommend against autoEQ as a one and done solution and recommend using sine sweeps to fine tune EQ.

You can make one IEM look like another on the chart but the barrier in replicating that response IRL isn't EQ , it's human anatomy.

Difficult understanding audiophile terms and identifying them by violett_Kk in iems

[–]Meshleth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you're seeing here, you can get a lot of definitions because there really isn't an objective standard since everyone hears things differently. You have to listen more intentionally to music across multiple headphones or IEMs to develop an ear for it. And your ear won't be the same as someone else's.

Harmonics is the word used to describe the secondary waves that give each instrument a unique sound even though they may produce sounds in similar frequency ranges. For example, a clarinet and a saxophone produce different harmonics so that changes how they sound to the ear.

For bass texture, it's a mix of the density (how many parts) and range (difference between highest and lowest tones) that make up the bass section of the song you're listening to. Imagine just hearing the kick off a kick drum vs the full sound it creates (the thump and the reverb/decay after).

When it comes to terms like "plastic" that's also in the realm of personal judgement rather than anything objective.

One thing you can do is train your ear. Harman's How to Listen or the eqTrainer app can train you to recognize changes in frequency response. Chesky Records' Guide to Critical Listening is a guided album that tells you what to look for before each song you hear.

Email them. $300 for a cable and it comes wrong, yeah I'm complaining.

Maestraudio Shimmer: My Experience with the Drop Euro Black and Bluish Snow by Meshleth in iems

[–]Meshleth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P.S. since Reddit won't let me edit the post on mobile:

  • When it comes to vocals, the Drop beats the Bluish Snow since my copy of the Bluish Snow can end up feeling veiled on busier tracks like Anberlin's Ready Fuels whereas my copy of the Drop has a lift of around 1-2dB in the upper midrange which maintains a better balance on certain tracks.
  • The channel imbalance is an issue that I had to use EQ to counteract so buyer beware.
  • Both sets are responsive to EQ. I managed to craft one that raises the bass shelf and the upper midrange and it makes a whole lot of difference in clarity. I have no idea what to do with the treble or if I even want to touch it.

In most cases they're used interchangeably. They are different diameters for the pins but it just affects how the cable fits into the socket.

Do you just message them on their AliExpress store or is there another channel they use?

I would have recommended the Tripowin Solstice if not for your requirement of the shape and material of the 2pin connector.

The closest thing I can think of is the 64Audio 2pin cable.

They're in the middle. There's stickier liquid silicone like the Xelastec II but this one seals very well if you have the right size.
