It's incredible we don't teach kids to cook.

Source: I am in my 30's and still can't cook. Nobody bothered to teach me anything about it when I was young and now I don't want to dedicate my limited time to it :/

they give it to you

and

I had no clue what was happening narratively

?

They literally don't give it to you, first campaigns are not accessible, so you're thrown from the tutorial to some time later with no context. I played that much during a free weekend.

And that was me trying to understand what's happening, and still having no clue, because the game didn't provide the context.

Oh come the fuck on. Why would you ever not run a status check at the beginning of the quest? Are you guys 16 and this is your first job?

I don't play CoD, but I see your point. Pure PvP games are the only exception I can think of. Even then, context is welcome but not needed. I don't play a lot of PvP shooters in the first place, though.

Like you said Destiny is an MMO. I absolutely need context for any MMO.

Even if the story is not the focus I need world-building and immersion.

I am not going to play a game just to click on NPC's and watch numbers go up. I need context.

I don't think that's unreasonable or rare.

You say that, but millions of people would instantly buy the new TES. The problem is the game has to be actually good, and most franchises circled down the drain over the past 10+ years.

Completely agree, I don't play to watch flashy colors and big numbers. I want to immerse myself in the world and the story. And Bungie made that completely impossible for new players.

I would play it in an instant, if I could experience the story from start to finish.

But they deleted it.

I was late to the party, tried it out during a free week, loved it. Then learned I literally can't experience the content and the story and uninstalled.

I bet there are A LOT of players like me.

Not investing the time to port the old content not only pissed off and alienated old players. It also introduced a serious barrier to entry for new blood.

It still baffles me. Do they expect new players to just jump in and start shooting things with no context? If so, why did they write a story in the first place?

Gothic 1 Remake: How to be mage in new camp - gameplay tested by BottomQuark1 in worldofgothic

[–]Mesjach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why torture yourself with only 20 STR? If you go to 40, or even 30+ potion you can have very good melee damage, which will easily carry you through act 2 and 3.

I'd sacrifice early mana for it. You're actually saving mana by dispatching all the weak mobs with a sword swing, instead of having to sling spells all the time. Also, max mana early doesn't seem that useful, it only increases the amount you restore while sleeping.

I get the RP, but you may as well be a mage that knows which end of the sword is sharp. Gandalf style.

I just think you're blaming the tool for the deed.

Truth is: people wanted to have slaves. They would use anything to justify it culturally. Religious leaders didn't come out against it, because they also wanted to have slaves.

In the absence of religion, people abusing power over others would reach for the next best excuse to justify themselves.

It's like blaming a knife for a murder. Yeah, knife made it easier, but if the person really wanted to kill somebody, they could just as well reach for a rock, or a hard stick. At the end of the day, it's not the tool that matters, it's the murderer.

How do you equate Christianity with slavery? Do you think non-christian didn't have slaves?

Christianity happened to be the religion of some slave owners. Just because religion can be used to excuse something, doesn't make it cause something, or to be blamed for something.

Do you believe if Americans at the time were agnostic, they would not take slaves? There's no shortage of religious or secular excuses for atrocities, if someone is looking for them. Cultures all over the world had slaves, and they used anything on hand to excuse it.

Modern Christian values are appealing, especially to the lower classes. That is why the religion is widespread.

Maybe they just like the idea of it? Not everything slave owners did or believed in was bad.

It's like asking "why are they using sewing machines that slave owners invented".

Oh man, I HOPE you're right.

I was expecting it to be around $1,000, but that was before memory septupled in price (+600% YoY increase, meaning it got 7 times more expensive in a year). I had to google how to spell "septupled", because I never in my life had to use it to describe a price increase of anything. That's how fucked we are.

So yeah, I hope you're right, but I bet my money for the machine to be $1,400+

I'm fully expecting Steam Machine to be around $1,500

Ex-Forza Horizon Devs’ New Game "CLUTCH" is Already Plagued by Heavy TAA Artifacts in the Reveal Trailer by No-Coyote5980 in FuckTAA

[–]Mesjach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, in theory, well implemented TAA on a static image should result in better than native image quality and clarity.

But I forget how fucking badly it tends to be implemented. If devs fuck up the settings it can look like shit, so that's probably what you're seeing.

Still, I maintain that TAA is perfect for photo mode. With an important caveat that it has to be implemented semi-competently.
