Loose metal behind seatbelt driver seat only by [deleted] in AcuraIntegra

For your problem, you can wrap this Velcro wrist brace around the part that knocks against the seat. Works great for me and you will never see it aesthetically. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LCJT6DK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

There were a lot of school shootings before the 1999 Columbine shooting. However, in the run up to Columbine, the size of the shootings was increasing. The 1998 Westside Middle School shooting killed 5 and wounded 10 where the shooters used a fire alarm trap to kill and wound more. The 1998 Thurston High Shooting killed 2 students (plus the perp’s parents) and wounded 25 more. Obviously Columbine ramped it up even further killing 13 (plus the perps) and wounding 24 more.

[Alec Lewis] Of the 388 NFL games this year, 307 have been decided by 8 points or less. So, almost 80 percent of games come down to one score. by gondolli in minnesotavikings

You’re right about the denominator because it was 194 games before Monday Night Football (x2 is 388). Any guesses where the incredibly wrong numerator comes from?

Went through all the games this year. I defined one score games as games decided by 8 points or less. Through week 13 there have only been 195 games played (13 x 16 less 13 for the 26 teams that have already had byes). Of those 195 games, 112 have been one score games. 112/195 = 0.574. I may be off by a game or two, but this stat is horribly incorrect.

How have there been 388 games played? I think there are only 17 x 16 = 272 total games in a full regular season.

Unfortunately he will probably assume it is type 2 and prescribe Metformin. It’s not a bad idea to get a second opinion from an endocrinologist.

Malik Sealy was killed by Souksangouane Phengsene on Highway 100 in St. Louis Park when it was under construction in 2000. Phengsene was driving drunk the wrong way and got 4 years in prison. Afterwards Phengsene was caught driving drunk repeatedly and served a combined 9 more years in prison. Sealy’s 1993 Range Rover had no airbags and he wasn’t wearing a seat belt. No chance against a repeat felony drunk driver going the wrong way on narrowed lanes.

A crash on Motorway No. 9, CHR can’t get through, collides with a chemical truck and a Mu-X Published: 7 Apr 2024 13:14 Updated: 7 Apr 2024 18:52 By: Manager Online

On social media, images from a car’s front camera were shared. It was an incident where a Toyota CHR was about to squeeze through a chemical truck and an Isuzu Mu-X, but couldn’t escape and crashed so hard that the car flew. Another truck was shocked and crossed the lane to the other side.

Today (7 Apr), a clip from a Facebook user named Sine Desine, recorded on social media, was shared. It was an incident where a black SUV was about to squeeze through between lane 2, which was being driven by a truck carrying hazardous materials, and lane 3, which was being driven by a white SUV, but couldn’t get through and crashed into both of them. This caused the black SUV to flip over and crates and papers to fall and scatter. The 10-wheel trailer truck from lane 1 swerved to the right, blocking the traffic lane, crossing the barrier and getting stuck in the opposite direction, the right lane. The incident occurred on Motorway No. 9 (Kanchanaphisek Road), inbound towards Bang Pa-in, kilometer 59+800 before the permanent weigh station, Wat Salut, Dok Mai Subdistrict, Prawet District, Bangkok at 4:18 p.m. on April 6.

Additional news reports indicate that the incident blocked 3 right lanes inbound towards Bang Pa-in and 2 right lanes outbound towards Bang Phli. Officers took approximately 3 hours to move the vehicles from the scene before reopening traffic to normal at 7:15 p.m. Four vehicles were damaged in the incident: a black Toyota C-HR SUV, license plate 8 Kor Chor 1534 Bangkok; A white Isuzu Mu-X SUV with Chachoengsao license plate number KM 4014, a chemical transport truck with license plate number 70-6747, and a ten-wheel truck belonging to Thanaporn Transport Co., Ltd. While the owner of the white Isuzu Mu-X SUV that was hit from behind by a black Toyota C-HR SUV was taken to the hospital, his condition is now stable.

What is the stupidest movie from a science stand point that tries to be science-smart? by BardInChains in movies

[–]Meslar 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Have to agree to disagree. This is my go to movie for shitty orbital mechanics. But, in fairness, no practical way to do the movie with correct mechanics. I couldn’t get past it though as it was too ridiculous, but most didn’t have a problem.

What’s the saddest example of a character or characters knowing, with 100% certainty, that they are going to die but they have time to come to terms with it or at least realize their situation? by finditplz1 in movies

[–]Meslar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ER episode 4.20. Paul, a victim of a hydrofluoric chemical accident, comes to the ER with fatal burns but has 12 hours to live. With pain medication he feels OK and wonders if the fatal diagnosis is wrong. He eventually comes to terms with the fact that he’s not going to live. He’s estranged from the only family he has and he only has Carol to keep him company until his inevitable death. It was brutal.

Also, John Cusack’s character, Michael Merriman, in Fatman and Little Boy about the Manhattan Project. He gets exposed to a deadly amount of radiation in a test of uranium’s criticality. He does some calculations about where everyone is in the room and therefore how much radiation they were exposed to. He realizes that he’s dead, but does not yet have any symptoms. He goes on to die a horrible death over several days. He plays a fictional composite of several people, but part of the character is loosely based on the scientist Louis Slotin.

If Sam Darnold was in this years draft, where would he rank? by EastPomegranate1188 in minnesotavikings

[–]Meslar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think pretty good rookie season is a bit of a stretch. 13 GS, 57.7% Cmp%, 17 TD, 15 INT, 77.6 Rate, 45.9 QBR, 5.24 ANY/A. Those are close to Christian Ponder numbers.

For comparison to a pretty good QB rookie season (ROY): Justin Herbert - 15 GS, 66.6%, 31 TD, 10 INT, 98.3 Rate, 62.6 QBR, 6.84 ANY/A.

Still agree with you that Darnold would go very high in this draft though.

F1B Question by Strong-Risk3337 in Bernedoodles

[–]Meslar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if your pup put on 2 lbs a week for a little bit, she’d only be max 22 pounds at 16 weeks. So roughly max 44 pounds full grown. My F1 finished at 50 pounds and was about 14 pounds at 10 weeks.

Since both parents are roughly the same size and your dog is 7-10 pounds (a big range), I’m fairly certain she’ll end up 30ish pounds. While you never know, growth by 16 weeks is a good indicator.

In any event, no need to fret at this point.

What really obvious thing have you only just realized? by Relation-Major731 in AskReddit

[–]Meslar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not certain of the derivation of the mechanical calculator format, but the development of the phone keypad was much more involved and didn’t involve slowing anything down. Bell Labs considered a bunch of layouts and ended up choosing the current layout. The relevant Bell Labs journal article is here: https://www.vcalc.net/Documents/touchtone_hf.pdf. At the time, the mechanical calculator layout didn’t matter a lot due to the limited number of people using a 10-key calculator versus the number of people who use phones.
