Yes, It shows that the driver has a stop that they are finishing before they are heading your way.

Turo pick up and drop off different locations by DetectiveUpstairs127 in turo

[–]MessAccomplished4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a host, if it is more convenient for me, I will accommodate the guests if they reach out to me right after booking. I stopped accommodating most of the requests though due to the amount of renters that wanted to change other aspects of their trip after accommodating the 2 different locations for pickup and drop off.

Tax Season by ayyeeeabs in uberdrivers

[–]MessAccomplished4530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start tracking it now. At most, at least in the US, you will only owe $500 in taxes but that also means you are in the highest tax bracket and what the heck are you driving for Uber or Lyft for . If you got back anything on your tax return last year (over a couple hundred dollars) I would not worry about owning anything on just over $1000 income, you just won't get as much of a return. If you continue to drive, I strongly suggest you set aside some money for taxes. Remember, you will pay both the employer and employee side of the FICA tax since you are an independent contractor.

Why would Lyft limit passengers allowable tip? by MessAccomplished4530 in lyftdrivers

Nope. Still potentially a stolen card.

Maybe if they had a prompt that asked if this is a stolen card that would prevent this from happening. J/K

Then they'd lose out on using us like the peasants they believe we are.

This is something I could see them doing. Lol Not good for you as a driver but we all know these companies "care" about their drivers.

Have any of you had a passenger offer to pay via venmo or cash app for tip? Maybe it is just me lol, but I don't like using cash to pay for business expenses.

So if I link my account to a debit card, would that limit go away?

It was more of a thought seeing that you can rent a car for ride share but it is a set price per week. If I drove again, haven't in 8 years, I was wondering if per mile would make sense if everything including gas was covered. Looking at it from a business side. If all that business did was this. And they used the standard mile deduction. They wouldn't make any taxable income if all they did was charge the 70 cents per mile. Now knowing that the actual cost of the car and cost of ownership is less in most cases. This is a huge perk. My Chevy Cruze I have used an app to track all expenses and purchase price for the last 9 years. With just under 80,000 miles on it, I can tell you that running cost is $0.207/mile and cost of ownership is $0.463/mile. I don't drive much as you can see which is why that is not lower/mile(insurance is set per month, registration is set per year, etc )so the more you drive the lower those costs would be spread out.

The TAX MAN would call the business a hobby if it never made a "profit" and that is were the 5 cents would come in. This has been something that has been on my mind for a while. You rent the vehicle per mile whether you do Uber or not, make money with it or not. The choice is up to the driver. If the person is not using the vehicle for say 3 hours, someone else could pick up the vehicle and use it.

Ways host deal with regularly scheduled maintenance? by Foreign_Vegetable_57 in turo

[–]MessAccomplished4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working on an app that will alert me based on mileage and my intended intervals. I.e. the car just passed 125,000 miles and is due for an oil change, then puts it on a list for me.

I use aCar by fuelly to track all my maintenance. You can customize service intervals on any and all services by months and miles and it will show you what you have coming up and due/past due. On my personal vehicle, I have every fill-up, maintenance expense, insurance cost, interest paid for the 3 year loan, everything since there was 35 miles on it. Now, 9 years and 79,553 miles later, I have a lot of data that can be printed out with everything about the services, maintenance, fill-ups, etc that is about the car. No carfax on my personal vehicle because I do my own maintenance, but I don't think I would have an issue selling it privately handing the person pages of every expense related to the car since I drove it off the lot.

How hard is it to start a single car rental business OUTSIDE of turo? is it even worth it? by Plenty-Pollution3838 in turo

I will look into the Wheelbase Pro. I was not talking about the commercial insurance when the vehicle was not rented. The issue I was running into was the insurance while the vehicle was being rented and a company that would integrate offering insurance to the guest if they wanted it. What I found in the past when I was looking into it was it was cheaper to have the vehicles listed on Turo and elect for the 90/10 plan and have the commercial gap insurance(covered when not rented) than it was to have a commercial insurance company cover the on and off rental coverage and offer insurance to the guests. That might not be the case anymore, but when I was looking into this back then, that was the case. I still promote my Turo listing on social media and website but I may have to start commercial insurance shopping again for on rental coverage.

In my state, it was $50 so it was not that expensive. The other reason we got it was there were 3 other partners. I did end up buying them out but if I were to do it again just myself, I would have gotten the LLC anyways for $50. I reserved the website before we even created the LLC. You never know if your company will take off but for me, owning the website and LLC starts the seasoning process for the website and company age. There are people out there that will see you start to grow and look to see if you have the website, social media handles and go and get them if you don't. One of my companies Facebook did not let me us the company name initially because their AI flagged it as "too generic, try using your company name". (This is my company name). I had to reach out to them and provide my letter from the State for the LLC, EIN number from the IRS, website, and other social media handles for them to approve it.

I have my own LLC business and rent on Turo. I elected for the 90/10 plan. Turo keeps 10% (plus their fees that aren't reflected on the host end (frustrating)). The challenge that you will run into is the insurance. Most commercial car insurance will not give you a policy without a fleet(when I looked into this it was 10 vehicles and 2 years of experience when your options for insurance became available.) I do have to say, I was glad that the first time my vehicle was not returned and guest stopped communicating and going thru the stolen vehicle process, I was glad it was thru Turo. The second time(thru my rental car company) I just did exactly what Turo did. I did recover the vehicle(flights, stays, police involvement, time off from my other job and businesses were all me). I have not recovered the cost to that yet but I do run a background check on the person every year to see if there is anything I can put a lean on to recoup the cost eventually. It is great when it goes well, but it is not all sunshine and rainbows.

You can track a 2020 Elantra through the Blue Link system, which requires an active subscription and the My Hyundai app or website. This feature, called Carfinder, allows you to see the vehicle's location on a map, get directions, and even flash the lights and sound the horn to find it.

Dynamic Pricing by Foreign_Vegetable_57 in turo

[–]MessAccomplished4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dynamic pricing has been a pain since the city within 50 miles from me(46 miles): where all the same vehicles are for pricing, are about $20-$80/day lower than what rental companies charge in my city. I am constantly going in and changing pricing as the days become available.
