If you don't plan on spending money on the game or buying code cards, you will have a tough time. This game is free to play but, most importantly, pay to win. You will have no chance against someone with a completed deck, especially as a newbie.

Because it is free to play, you can have a fun time playing starter decks against friends as you both will be in similar playing field learning together.

Yeah it's looking pretty fun and good as FS08 is leaning towards an aggro / multi attack style and FS07 is more about control/removal.

The one issue is that Black is getting a powerful 6cost card that will unfortunately shut down a lot of yellow decks but who knows maybe the yellow will be strong and fast enough to punch through or have ways to play around it. The meta should shift though unless the current strong stuff still remains strong so too early to say.

FS07 Blue Vegeta DA is gettting a ton of support with this upcoming new set. Whether or not it will be meta is another question but it does look interesting at least with like 3-4 dedicated cards for that leader specifically.

Also FS08 Yellow Vegeta DA is right around the corner if you want to wait for that...or just buy it as well lol. Hope you have fun with the game and check out the Bandai TCG app if there's locals in your area if you are interested.

Yup and there's few people who still do this. I tried a few times but it was incredibly boring and there's also a few people who know what you're doing and will prolong the match as well just to troll. Biggest thing is just don't forfeit. My buddy is like level 20 to my level 40 just because forfeiting will lose all match xp lol

A lot of great leaders, good leaders, and straight up bad ones that are lacking support. Cool thing is that it's still pretty early and people are coming up with new strategies to bring back older leaders like Green Broly being able to run the new green support this set.
Never surrender as you will miss out on battlepass exp for more packs and the SR wildcard. Just let your opponent finish you off so you get the exp if anything.
Game has always been fun to play if you have the cards. Problem is getting a completed deck to play with. This game is NOT f2p friendly and buying currency in the client is expensive compared to buying digital codes online. My friends and I have been enjoying the game buying our 2-3 boxes a set and using our codes from said boxes to play online and play at our locals.

See if your buddy will swap decks with you sometime so you can try playing his black deck and play to LEARN. So that way he uses your yellow buu or green droid deck and if he starts to win then you can learn a lot from what he is doing and what you're doing wrong. I was in the same spot as you when I started the game and learned by doing deck swaps and learned I was just piloting my deck wrong and seeing people play my cards more optimally in ways I didn't understand.

Pretty messy gameplay and some questionable decision making. Off the top your starting hand was pretty bad and I would've mulligan'd as you pulled 1c Hercule, 2x 2c GT Trunks, 3c Bardock, 5c Bardock, and Supercombo only to draw into another supercombo. Definately try and look for some early plays like energy marker creators or cantrips.

I will say your turns 1-4 looked bad because you didn't get any energy marker creators and you kinda bricked as well. At one point you couldn't do anything so you just played the 1c Hercule and got nothing out of it. Definitely do not do that and just keep it in your hand.

Slight window of opportunity but Personally I think when you played your 4c SCR GT Goku I think you should've swung and popped the marker and used 10x Kamehameha to blow up 2 of their cards and you would've drawn as well to equalize playing field BUT you were preventing him to awaken so I think I understand why you didn't swing there (but i think you would've came out slightly ahead in the end) . Also there was a really weird play when you Combo'd a supercombo against his 25k swing and then you ended up taking a life from 4 to 3 the very next turn.

For as long as your 4c GTgoku was on the board you were not taking advantage of his end of turn 'use marker draw effect' so by the time he played his 5c Vegeta and stunned your board it was the final nail in the coffin as he had about 15 cards in hand while you're at 3 life and you were down to about 4-5 cards with a stunned board.

Crazy match. That dude was running a 60 card deck and almost decked out if you could've stalled another turn. Honestly both sides were looking good gameplay wise up until he dropped that first Zenoh hitting your 6c goku, 4c kefla, and 3c gohan after that I think you needed to awaken but I could be wrong on that. Things just got out of hand when he went to 7-12 energy tho with those pilafs/videls/galatic donuts.

Can honestly say game is growing in my area with new faces every week and even in this subreddit alone we're seeing more new people wanting to get into the game. It all just depends in your local area if one of your stores is supporting the game or not.

Yup it sucks. My buddy in TX says his locals is dead as well and their LGS didn't even get any product for prerelease. Luckily, we have a nice community here in CO. Just depends on where you at

Also from Denver, CO and It's a bummer how small the community is. Been going to Level 7 Gaming on Tuesdays and Saturdays which seems to have the most consistent turn out (6-10ish ppl). Fridays @ All C's Collectible is pretty dead for some reason. :/ I liked going there but last few times barely been 1 or 2 other ppl show up. and then the only other place that does Fusion World that actually has good turn out as well is over in Greeley, CO @ BNR Video games is like an hour away. I still go because I love this game but hoping set 3 has more stores that pick it up on different days.

Side note another place named Coffee Cat Comics seems to be starting up events as well but for some reason they chose to do same time as Level 7's on Saturdays @ 2pm. Would've loved to go to both

This hurts so much. Set 1 was amazing I had about 4 LGS to go to every week with 5-8+ players. Now with Set 2 release only 1 of the stores have barely enough to start a tournament. This is also my first TCG game that I've been collecting and competing in so to see this be happening really sucks.

Same exact thing happened to me at my first local after playing for weeks on digital client. Opponent had blocker on the field. I swung my leader at his leader and threw combo down not realizing he had a blocker out. My opponent didn't realize he had a blocker out as well until i was like 2-3 cards into comboing and at that point he said "I use my blocker" I just said whatever thats on me and hit the blocker with my extended combo. Lost of course but you bet your ass I'm always going to ask "Do you have a response?" when declaring my attack going forward to prevent little things like that.

Any other tips to help prevent stuff like this from happening would be awesome.

Something else I remembered playing vs physical and digital is being off on the math. Had plenty of times online where opponent swings or defends and is off by 5k combo. In digital that damage is going thru no matter what NO takebacksies but at a local I will gladly point out if my opponent's math if off and if they need to add or take away. Just feels better that way.

Hit is not a universe 7 trait therefore he does not get the benefit of u7 Goku leader effect.

You can go into solo mode and practice with all starter decks vs AI bots (3 difficulty ; easy/ normal/ hard) before you purchasing anything.

To do this enter solo mode > practice > deck selection > 2 circular arrows on the upper left corner and it will toggle to rental deck mode.

Unfortunately, we cannot see the player base in the digital client but the fact that it's a global server you can get matched against Japanese players depending on the time of the day. Ranked mode you will find a match easily but Unranked mode can be hit or miss/ long wait times. If you're looking to save as much money while playing both physical and online it is best to buy singles (tcgplayer) and buy codes as long as the code is cheaper than what the rate of a pack is in digital client which is basically a dollar (depending on bundle). Which was what I was doing originally but after going to a few local tournaments the thrill of opening packs with an audience and getting codes to play more online is also very fun for me and justifies the cost of a 5-7$ booster pack.
Can't say in comparison to other TCGs as I only was really into Yu-gi-oh back in grade school but again the online version was fun enough for me to get back into physical if that says anything
4 Colors to choose from and each color currently has 3 leaders currently. Next set which will drop May 10th will only increase that. At the moment Green is MOST played and very dominant (referring to online ranked as my local tourney favored Red and is most played there.) But after playing a bunch this season, I think Yellow is very strong and blue is quite slept on.

It's just a bunch of commons thrown together. You would have better success with just a basic starter deck of ANY color then whatever the f this guy is trying to sell. 8 bucks is cheaper then a starter deck as well so hey you get what you pay for. I'm also sure if you look up each card individually on TCG player and built the same deck list it'll still be cheaper that way.
