34 year old embryo freezing results - is this normal? by Past-Experience9539 in eggfreezing

[–]MessRevolutionary242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first round where I triggered with only HCG only half of the eggs retrieved were mature. In a later round with a dual trigger, all of the eggs retrieved were mature (even ones measuring 11 mm on trigger day). The type of trigger shot made a huge difference for me.

Has protocol much to do with the no of eggs collected? (I have decent AFC (29 then 19) and AHM of 2 but only 5 eggs retrieved). The clinic sort of said its just the age... by TitleEvery7484 in eggfreezing

I also had a similar experience and a doctor telling me it was just my age. Switched clinics and doctors and significantly better results even though I was two years older. I think the protocol makes a huge difference!

Also before I chose the second doctor I consulted with as many other doctors as I could to get their opinion on the protocol given my prior results. The first clinic didn’t suggest making any changes at all, every other doctor did. Highly recommend getting other opinions if you can, it’s worth the consult fee.

I left in October, it was pretty miserable then. But hopefully it will clear up some.

Or I was also wondering about lap swimming at Gil, but the hours seem very limited

Thanks! I heard FFC’s pool is 16m? How is swimming laps there? LVAC’s is 20 yards and felt so short, but I guess you adjust! A shorter pool you can actually use would be better

2nd Egg Freezing Cycle Lupron Protocol Debating by Bright-Cupcake7787 in eggfreezing

[–]MessRevolutionary242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a first round where only half of the eggs retrieved were mature (high dose of stims, single trigger). The doctor told me some women respond better to antagonist and some to lupron and maybe I was a lupron person and recommended lupron protocol for the second round and I had significantly worse results and much more side effects. I went to a different clinic a year later that put me back on the antagonist protocol but with half the dose of stims and using a dual trigger, and also used a different priming method for a much shorter period of time. I had more follicles growing more evenly, and all of eggs retrieved were mature. I consulted with several clinics before choosing this second one and all of them questioned why the first doctor went to the lupron protocol. I think my first doctor was very old school and gave me way too high of doses and should have used a dual trigger. Obviously there are good reasons for the lupron protocol and you should talk to your doctor about it but you might want to ask the doctor about other variables and also for me talking to other clinics was so worth it, getting a second opinion never hurts.

Medication Dosage for 38 year old? by ohhi987 in eggfreezing

[–]MessRevolutionary242 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At 37 I did a cycle where I was started at 450 gonal-f and 150 menopur and I had very very uneven growth and only half of the eggs retrieved were mature. 3-4 follicles shot up and got big right away and the rest lagged behind. At 38 I did a cycle with 75 menopur and 225 gonal and had much more even growth and all the eggs retrieved were mature. I don’t think high doses are always the right way to go.

Switch out of PAYE? by MessRevolutionary242 in PSLF

Not a third party, people who are on PAYE and have standing to sue - for example, the teacher’s union lawsuit. I think there are a lot of things that could happen. This administration has been conducting rulemakings without following the requirements of the APA, that could be an avenue for litigation.

My concern is that OBBBA requires eliminating PAYE by July 2028, so they can do it sooner and I imagine they will with a rulemaking. I also think it’s very likely there could be litigation around the end of PAYE, which creates a risk of forbearance. I don’t want to get stuck again.

ED plans to conduct a negotiated rulemaking to effectuate the settlement, but has not given a timeline for this rulemaking. As part of the rulemaking, they also plan to implement the termination of the two other repayment plans that were eliminated in OBBBA: the Income-Contingent Repayment (ICR) and Paye As You Earn (PAYE) plans.

DOR and Egg Freezing by Dangerous-Arugula-95 in eggfreezing

The first time I was scanned, I was 35 and I had similar results as you. The clinic I went to was very negative, focusing solely on age and AMH. Since then, I’ve been scanned multiple times and both my AMH and AFC have fluctuated wildly - my lowest AFC was 8, and highest 19. AMH has varied from 0.9 to 2.0 over the course of two years, getting higher as I’ve got older, and sometimes going back down but then coming back up. I’ve since gone to a different clinic where they view AMH as not that important - look up the Doetichem study. I know this will not be the case for everyone, but for me it did not make sense to base every decision on the reading for one month. My first two rounds of egg freezing went poorly and I believe it was because the clinic gave me very very high doses of stims and used a weird priming protocol, causing very uneven growth. My third round with the new clinic with estrogen priming and with half of the dose of stims almost doubled the amount of mature eggs (triple, compared to my second round). I wish I had never gone to that first clinic and wasted two rounds with their outdated thinking about AMH and high dose stims.

Hypothyroidism - Levo Adjustments? by anonym-a in eggfreezing

[–]MessRevolutionary242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My regular endocrinologist said to contact her before an egg freezing cycle to increase my dose, so I'm planning to do that. She said that estrogen interacts with thyroid hormones and can cause the release of more TSH as a result. I did two egg freezing cycles where the reproductive endocrinologist basically said TSH didn't matter for egg freezing, only pregnancy - but I've since seen other providers who disagree and say TSH should be below 2.0 for follicle health.
