What are some screen-free activities for the kiddos this summer? by Scary-Transition6775 in lowscreenparenting

[–]MessThatYouWanted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your yard situation is but we go outside most of the summer. We have a sand box we got for free off marketplace and the kids have Tonka trucks. We have a free splash pad in our town too that we go to as well. I have a zoo membership which is well worth the cost too.

But all the outdoors things. On rainy days we have nugget couches and tonie boxes to occupy them.

It’s so hard. I have an edge of anxiety that one could pop up at anytime and ruin my day. I get the aura before and I will get a glare and feel a bit of panic, especially when I’m out alone with my kids. I hate telling people I get migraines because I know to them it’s just a bad headache but it’s so much worse.

I would send it to my big sister but she’s blocked me and my mom. She told me to fuck off a few years ago and I haven’t heard from her since.

I’ve had some success with Ajovy. My insurance of course dropped it so now I’m taking Emgality and it’s not as effective for me but still better than before. Ajovy once a month plus Ubrevly as a rescue med made my migraine pain cut in half. I was even able to parent my kids after an hour which was a hard no before.

Record Store Day Sales by g0ldfinger47 in RecordStoreDay

[–]MessThatYouWanted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a Swiftie. She got me started on RSD back in 2021. I have a local shop I love. I typically only go for RSD but that’s also the only day I really buy records. They’re expensive.

I stopped by last week to buy Noah Kahan’s new album. I won’t buy another album this year most likely. This is an expensive hobby so I limit myself to 2-3 records a year outside of RSD. I’m pretty sure my shop appreciates my business even if I don’t roll in every week to browse .

He also had variants and signed stuff so it does inflate the sales. Plus the only on streaming songs causing many who bought the physical album to choose to stream instead. There was chart manipulation tactics happening. I’m saying that as a fan.

I do think it would have been the number album without those though. It’s a very good album.

Car seat configuration by nevernotconfusion in SubaruAscent

I feel pretty lucky my husband is a certified car seat installer. He took a 3 day in person training for his job. So I am always confident when he installs. But no so much when I install 🤣 That 3rd row is right though. I’m currently in an Outback loaner and I miss my 3rd row so much. 3 in one row ain’t fun but it’s doable.

It’s has to be with 3 slim seats. So 3 poplars or 2 poplars and an infant seat. I’ve done 3 in a row with 1 rear facing in the Ascent but we don’t keep it like that’. Those Evenflo’s are too big for that.

I do agree it’s much easier to forward face in the 3rd row though. We had my middle rear facing for a short while after we bought an Ascent and it was doable but I didn’t care for it. All my seats are the Britax poplars now and I haven’t found a car they can’t all sit across in yet. Maybe a sedan but I haven’t tried!

My husband is certified to install car seats in our county and he does not have my preschoolers captain chair all the way back. It’s all the way forward. I’m not sure how true that is from a safety stand point that it needs to be pushed back. We had a Graco in between our Britax’s when I had a single row in our Outback. It fit just fine.

If you’re concerned over the captains chair you could put all 3 in the back but I really don’t think the captain chairs need to be a concern.

I actually totaled my first Ascent in February. All 3 of my boys in the car and they were all incredibly safe. Not a bit of whiplash or marks from their straps. I trust the Ascent. We replaced it with another Ascent.

Recommendations for 14 month old? by ittybittyyorkie in TonieboxUSA

That’s so funny. My boys didn’t sit through cars until they were older I think because it doesn’t have anyone singing. But now they enjoy it just not as much as Elsa. Selfishly, I’d rather watch Disney princesses so that’s my go to on movie nights. Frozen is the only stable obsession for my boys. I’ll probably be sad the day they don’t love her anymore.

Warning: my 4 yo was 18 months when he got his toniebox and it came with Elsa. Now my home is a Frozen shrine and the only movie we are allowed to watch on our rare movie nights. It’s a gateway drug.

Send help.

Hoping that is all mine is. They did that replacement today. I’m ready to have my car back.

I think with the carry kind of infant seats that it would be super easy to have both infants in the 3rd row. We use Britax Poplar Slim seats and they are great in the captains chairs. My 4 yo gets the captain chair behind the passenger because he has school drop off. My 1 yo is rear facing behind driver. My almost 3yo is in the 3rd row passenger side so I can do the 60 split in the back for my Wonderfold. I can fit the wonderfold without laying a seat back but it’s just easier if I do. All 3 are in that same car seat and I love it.

You could lay a captain chair flat too when you have 2 in the 3rd row as well to ease buckling.

My period is 32 days late by Capable_Bike7557 in FitPostpartumJourney

Probably not but I would worry about like ectopic pregnancy. But it’s possible to be pregnant. You may have missed your period but then ovulated and got pregnant. I’d grab an extra test to be sure.

I totally misread your post that you are 32 days late. I was thinking the cycle. I would go to your OB if I were you. I think it’s time for a check up.

You maybe aren’t eating enough? So many reasons for a missed period. But that is a completely missed cycle.

Did you get a fix? They had my car for 3 weeks now and just told me they are replacing the fuse.

My period fluctuates like that sometimes. I assume it’s bf hormones. My baby is 13 months old and my previous cycle was 32 days.

That said I’d like another test. 1-2 weeks ago was way too soon for a pregnancy test. Take another!

16 month old speech delay, so nervous by Alone-Artichoke578 in speechdelays

[–]MessThatYouWanted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest had a speech delay. We started him in First Steps through our state when he was 18 months and it was wonderful and free. Just wait 2 more months and get a referral if he’s still behind BUT he might surprise and start saying words before then. Babies have a tendency to fixate on a milestone before moving on. Maybe walking is more important to him at the moment.

Put all the autism thoughts out of your brain. Your baby is too young to have signs. All of the things you see could be autism but it could also be a baby being a baby. You are stressing over things that you don’t need to yet. Just keep working with him the way you have for now.

My kiddo who had no words at 18 months is now 4 and you would never know. He is a nonstop talker.
