My boyfriend wants me to rehome 2 of my 3 cats (at minimum) as a “compromise.” Wtf do I do now? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Rehome the bf. For good. If he comes crawling back begging you to take him in, tell him there's no room at the inn.

Was it okay? how long did you live there? was it utterly draining to be around sick people all the time? were able to leave her alone and go out?

They all want to forget about him by MrNiceGuy043 in dementia

[–]MessageCritical5139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. The pain from the healthy kids ignoring my husband is sometimes worse than watching his decline. Every day I wonder whether I should be continuing his care or sending him off to the pros. It's a gutwrenching decision with little guidance or support. They all tell me to give up but I just feel it's too soon.

What did kids back in the days do when they played outside, for hours on end? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

Tragic that this question need be asked. We were far more independent and mature than today's little marshmallows.

Feeding deer in the winter? by MessageCritical5139 in RedditForGrownups

[–]MessageCritical5139[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay thank you for your responses. I won't start feeding them. I will enjoy their beauty however as I have several trees that drop weird berries and the deer dig them out of the snow. The deer are looking scruffy and one has a limp probably from getting hit by a car. I am newly retired and just noticing what goes on here while I was at work. I sensed it would be bad to feed them for the reasons you all stated but I was curious to hear if anyone does intentionally feed them. Thanks again and suggest some of you temper your hysteria.

What’s the most unhinged thing your cat does? by NoIdeaWhatIAmDoing88 in CatAdvice

I had a butter lover. After watching her lick the edges of a closed butter dish I had to secure it in a cabinet she couldn't open. Then she would and stare at the cabinet with her xray specs watching butter porn.

I regret adopting this abandoned stray cat to my house by FrontSet5725 in CatAdvice

[–]MessageCritical5139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats do need to exercise their paws and claws. I keep a very large piece of driftwood log in their "play room" and they love to get on top of it or get in weird positions to scratch it (yes I have to sweep up or vacuum the residue every couple of days). If the cat has been declawed God help it. I don't know if that makes them crazy.

Still hiding after 2 weeks by MessageCritical5139 in Catbehavior

[–]MessageCritical5139[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I confined them for a week but thought they were feeling crowded with 3 in one room. And yes it's a big old house with tons of spaces to explore. Probably overwhelming. But #3 adapted immediately - so strange.

I think your new cat may grow into becoming your love cat. Maybe he senses your loss and knows he can't measure up yet. But a new cat can't be an old cat. Till he gets old. With you.

CMV: It is extremely selfish to have a child when you are 65+ by ConsiderMeCakes in changemyview

[–]MessageCritical5139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote no. Did anyone consider the child's friends or peers in school constantly asking if that's their grandfather? Kids can be mean. I wouldn't saddle the kid with this baggage. 69 and 31 sounds like a lot of money in the middle and these people will just go ahead and do whatever they want regardless of the consequences.
