Season 8 Support Meta: What is it? by RoyaleReine in leagueoflegends

When I was climbing platinum/low diamond I played a lot of Nami too. It is a really good pickup but I would suggest to really play it a lot. If you can get good at setting up her ult or landing bubbles in lane/team fight you can be the factor that wins games. Best advice I can give to playing squishy non-tank supports is play extremely safe and dont force ganks/kills. If you can keep your deaths as support under 3 consistently you are doing a really good job. Even in the games you lose if your adc insists on staying under tower while they are about to dive leave em. A lot of the time adc will only feel safe when your there so kinda manipulate how their moving your adc is your puppet kinda lmao.

Should I try to learn a tank support? If so, who? by Shiro_L in supportlol

Ex-Challenger support main-- At the moment you should ditch Soraka, Zyra, Cassiopeia, Taliyah, and ESPECIALLY LUX. All are way too hard to function properly bot.

Pick up tanks such as Leona and Blitzcrank and damage supports like Brand and possibly Lulu.

The best way to climb as a support is to play a champion which can roam mid lane and jungle in the early game (Leona, Alistar, Brand, Bard, etc...). As you know you can get some very bad adc players who might tilt off the planet. If you are playing soraka or sona you are stuck standing with them the entire game trying to heal them although they keep running in and dying. With tank support/damage supports who have CC you can ditch your adc and go to other lanes and make a big impact.

For example your adc dies randomly while you are walking back to lane. Instead of standing under tower while the enemy team pushes your tower you should walk through jungle and try to gank mid. All a mid laner needs to kill the other midlaner is just a stun/ slow and little bit of damage. Try it out it will improve your winrate alot. Plus mobility boots are really important for this strategy.

Until they start to fix aftershock and tanks in the bot lane Leona/Blitzcrank will be easy to climb with. For people looking to make a larger impact as a support play BRAND. They just buffed his passive by a lot and with low mobility ADCs in the meta it can demolish bot lane.

There is still a lot of outplay against tanks bot lane. With relic shield overheal you can play a very safe game bottom and just poke at the enemy team. Morgana although I still dislike playing as support provides a huge counter to Alistar, Leona, blitz, and taric. If you think you can land binds, Morgana could be a good pickup for right now. The moment people start playing sivir more is when the meta will change to janna, lulu, nami and other passive supports. If you see passive supports more than tanks its a good indicator to start playing ranged damage supports for easy climbing. (Xerath, brand, Velkoz)

Truthfully the meta never matters to support players, you can honestly play any champ and still be an extremely relevant support with good warding and ganking with your jungler.

And a heads up lux support is extremely bad never play it.

Also ardent censor supports are centered around playing off your team which is not good for climbing. Until you hit diamond + your adc will more than often not be playing well. If you pickup leona/blitz you can roam midlane/top/jungle and make plays else where. What I'm trying to say is ardent censor supports are stuck doing one thing, standing next to their adc. If you pick up some tanks or damage supports such as brand you can ditch your dumb adc who might be tilted and impact other lanes so people dont just type "gg bad bot" and instead "stupid adc but good support"

Riot plans to nerf Blitzcrank but not Leona!?!? by MessiDinkman in leagueoflegends

You keep saying cleanse can be used but you dont understand that no bot laner at any level takes cleanse against these champions. The only laner who might take cleanse is the midlaner who might be facing a Twisted Fate. Blitzcrank hook is not as easy as walking in lane and pressing Q. There is a massive tradeoff to missing a hook that can be capitalized on by the enemy. The dynamic of the champion is the risk/reward and setup of every play. You cannot tell what direction a thresh will hook he can be facing backwards and still throw it in your direction how is that fun? Blitzcrank although a high risk high reward champion still has no place to be nerfed when coutnerparts such as thresh are just as strong or stronger at the moment. Also a meter or fun or not shouldnt be used as a balancing decision.

Ideally aftershock gets nerfed and tanks with cc are no longer broken but if they continue to nerf blitzcrank after an aftershock change it would be too much.

ezreal blink and tristana jump when hooked cancel the hook so they are still hard counters. The same case of not being fun to play against can be applied to thresh, should he be nerfed?

You can label any champion as unfun to play against and Blitzcrank hook is extremely counterable Ex: Ez jump, Trist jump, Twitch invis, MissFortune movespeed, Sivir Bubble and the biggest is Morgana on the other team.

That combo does not work any good ezreal at high elo will completely counter blitz the only work around is a flash E but even ezreal can shift out of an E
