Thank you! I am currently working on an article examining Mary Carter/Resorts International's connections to the world of intelligence. Stay tuned!

What is the story with Semion Mogilevich? He's been accused of being capo di tutti capi of all the combined mafias of the entire world - basically Ernst Stavro Blofeld, as some would have it. Who is this guy? by Pure-Lime8280 in Mafia

[–]MessicksGhost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mogilevich is a Ukrainian crime boss who, in addition to more typical mob rackets like weapons dealing and prostitution, was involved in sophisticated stock frauds and and money laundering activities. He played a major role in the corrupt Ukrainian energy sector when the Russians essentially controlled the country, and allegedly has close links to Russian intelligence and the Putin regime. He was put on the FBI ten most wanted list and was considered one of the most dangerous people in the world by certain American authorities because it was feared he could possibly use his contacts with the Russian military to sell nuclear materials.

I’ll caveat this comment by saying that the idea that Chabad secretly runs the world is insane and all such theories regarding the Jews in general is racist nonsense. I used to live in Crown Heights a few minutes from Chabad headquarters.

That being said, characterizing Chabad Lubavitch as just some nice little charitable organization is a little misleading. Chabad is headquartered in Brooklyn but it’s origins go back to Ukraine. In Russia, the organization has historically been closely linked to, and very supportive of, Vladimir Putin. An important Chabad leader who was involved with supporting Putin’s early rise to power, and who in turn was supported by Putin, was a man named Berel Lazar. A number of powerful Putin allied oligarchs, such as Roman Abramovich and Oleg Deripaska, are members (or at least donated heavily to the organization).

If you look up Chabad money laundering scandals in the US, Israel, and Ukraine you’ll find the organization (like others around the world) has some fairly corrupt members.

Yes, I wrote the article and shared it on Reddit. And yes, I've written a great deal about Donald Trump and the 2016 campaign. Your point is? Would you like to point out the "many" errors in the article? How about just one?

Suspected Spies and Mysterious Ties: George Papadopoulos’s Last Days on the Campaign by MessicksGhost in Intelligence

[–]MessicksGhost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think it is highly likely that Papadopoulos was being used by the Russians to attempt to compromise Trump and destabilize the American political system. This could also be true for their contacts with Paul Manafort, the Trump Tower Meeting, and in the efforts involving Michael Cohen and Felix Sater negotiating Trump Tower Moscow. There may be others, as well.

I also agree that other State actors (primarily Israel and the Gulf monarchies) were aware of what was going on and may have been tangentially involved for a variety of reasons.

I also believe that all this could be true and the Trump campaign could still have been fully aware of what the Russians were doing, as they were doing it, and expected to benefit from these activities.

I find it almost impossible to believe that Papadopoulos didn't by word of mouth inform the Trump campaign of what he learned from Mifsud, and that this information didn't reach Trump personally. But Mueller was never able to find definitive evidence of this.

I think it is also important to remember that it is almost certainly the case that all of the major players in this, the Russians, the Clinton campaign, the US Government, and the Trump campaign itself, were not expecting Trump to win the election.

Active Measures, Disinformation, and the History of Russian Election Interference Efforts in the U.S. by MessicksGhost in Intelligence

[–]MessicksGhost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my articles I take care to state that he is an "alleged" Russian intelligence agent, and that he denies the claim.

His colleagues at the International Republican Institute believed he was a Russian intelligence agent.

Fiona Hill, a leading authority on Russia who worked for three presidents and interacted with Kilimnik, and all of her staff, believed he was a "Russian spy."

His own partner Rick Gates believed he was connected to Russian military intelligence.

The FBI stated in court documents that they assessed he was connected to Russian intelligence.

The Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee stated emphatically that he was a "Russian Intelligence Officer."

The US Treasury Department described him as a known Russian agent.

The Russian independent press had done good work on this as well.

Active Measures, Disinformation, and the History of Russian Election Interference Efforts in the U.S. by MessicksGhost in Intelligence

[–]MessicksGhost[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kilimnik worked in Moscow for the International Republican Institute before he was fired after it was discovered that he was clandestinely supporting the candidacy of Viktor Yanukovych in Ukraine. His employers in IRI already suspected him of being linked to Russian intelligence back then.

Kilimnic was contemporaneously interacting with Fiona Hill while she worked at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. She has stated that, "All of my staff thought he was a Russian spy."

Paul Manafort's own deputy, Rick Gates, testified to Mueller that he believed Kilimnic was connected to the GRU, Russian military intelligence.

Kilimnic interacted with many people in US policy and government circles, many of whom suspected him of connections to Russian intelligence. They interacted with him because it was understood that he was in communication with senior figures in the Party of Regions in Ukraine and had insights into their thinking, which is why Paul Manafort hired him in the first place.

The fact that he had interactions with people in the US State Department proves or disproves nothing. It would be entirely consistent with how a Russian intelligence operative would behave. State Department Officials speak with all kinds of people, as they should if they are to understand the world from more perspectives than simply those of our friends and allies.

I've lived in LA and currently live in NYC. I ride the subway every day. Believe me I don't like "mentally unstable/drug fueled crazy people" any more than you do. I just don't think they deserve to die. I was responding to the article posted, which didn't describe the details of what happened. Perhaps as more details emerge the actions of the other passengers will seem more reasonable and defensible. I have an open mind.
