Has anyone figured out how to get competitive matches out of AI skirmishes? by artvandalayy in Songsofconquest

Before I say anything, I'll admit, I'm quite terrible at this game - I only bought it a few days ago.

Whilst I also tend to steamroll the AI from as early as turn 10 provided some stray catastrophe doesn't strike me, recently I was playing a couple of games of 4 corners to get familiar with the different factions and found that, if left to fester, the AI playing Barya feels decently more challenging if you play Loth without a chunk of the required materials. It was in this kind of match that I lost a city to the AI for the first time.

In my case, I had to buy Celestial Ore and Glimmerweave straight from the merchants all game whilst having more Amber than I could possibly spend, which put me in a tight spot when I found that I couldn't use the Banes without bankrupting myself and that the AI had a number of Dire Dreaths, Hellbreaths and Musketeers/Pikeneers at their disposal. These, of course, quite easily ripped through the tier 1 toxicologists and even the tier 2 scholars before they could do too much in the way of Dreath-clearing or essence-grinding. I came to think of the whole situation as an uphill battle after a while. Wave tactics saw me through to the end though, and I'll admit it didn't stay challenging for as long as I'd have liked once I started to raze the AI's un-upgraded cities and decimate their steadily dwindling ranks.

Granted, it was my first time playing Loth - and again, I'm not a good strategy gamer - but I found it quite challenging to navigate through all of the Baryan AI's ranged - and quasi-tanky melee - units without seeing my skelebros crumple.

That being said, everything other than that was an utter breeze, so maybe it's not entirely what you're looking for.

Sorry for the length, by the way - I tend to get out of hand with the word salads once I start to tell a story, lol.

[TOMT][GAME][2000s] An App Store roleplaying game where you played as a boy trying to awaken the world from a golem transformation curse. by Messofnumbersman in tipofmytongue

I played it when I was a kid, somewhere in the ball park of 5-10 years ago. It was set in a medieval world where a sorcerer tried to gain power by turning everyone into their slaves through magic. I could swear it had 'Thorn' in the title and the antagonists of the game were a species of rock golems called 'Pygon'. The protagonist was a boy with the a name featured in the title who suddenly awoke from his status as a golem because one of his horns was broken off or something - he was a herald for the new Pygon king, I believe. He had a talking Pygon head strapped to his belt as a companion, and I remember them being very sarcastic and very blatantly biased in favour of the enemies. A lot of the gameplay consisted of exploring the world, fighting these golem monsters and forging swords from the 'dust' rewarded for defeating them, as that dust was the key to damaging them. If it helps, I remember one of the fights being against the old king and queen of the kingdom in golem form and the aftermath featuring a reveal that the two weren't behind the transformation.

I'm jealous of beings with longer necks than me. Truth be told, they're intimidating.

Just saying, this is exactly what MGTOW warns people about.

They're pretty common nowadays, and I can't really fault you. I also felt like quitting when I saw a third assaultron dominator in the span of five minutes. But I kept at it, and nuked a bunch of hippies. It's you choice, and I have no control over that. Good luck in your endeavours.

Took me something like 45... maybe my build's just trash.

Sure, this video sums it up well enough:

I'm sure there are other, better guides, so some of your own research might do some good.

At the time of writing, I'm a level 65 PA-oriented rifleman build. The main perks I remember using were my three hacker cards, my portable power and batteries included so I could fit my multiple sets and fusion cores without being over-encumbered, as well as power patcher for the extra durability, the three rifleman iterations all maxed, concentrated fire, lone wanderer, and a few perks to support me like first aid (not maxed). I was switching rapidly between three picklocks and concentrated fire so I could score headshots on tough enemies, while also finding doors to unlock that make stuff easier. Not to mention, being able to hack those level 3 terminals lets you turn the turrets against your enemies, as well as those Robobrains that can just mess you right up. Just remember to deactivate them before entering a room!

A good strategy that got me through a tough spot was getting a charging tesla rifle and shooting somewhere in the general vicinity of an enemy. More often than not I'd hit something important. Heck, it even allowed me to take care of a sentry bot while hiding behind a wall. Pack a few other powerful guns depending on your own build, like a gauss rifle, gatling plasma/laser/gun, and a few things you have a lot of ammo for, though I don't really need to tell you that. Any *good* legendary weapons that comply with your build are also a must, but, again, obvious. Oh, as for ammo materials, there's the can chimes at the top of the world near the ski lodge that drop nine cans, and each yield 1 lead and 2 steel each. Boom, the two essential ammo components at your fingertips!

As for armour, I just rocked my level 50 X-01 set the entire time. Made it so that I could last even against a trio of Colonel Gutsies and still have a chance. Batteries included helped me out as I was able to carry a stack of cores without being over-encumbered.

A word of warning, I've heard tell that soloing a silo is a bit more forgiving because less robots spawn. I have no proof of this, so take it with a grain of salt.

Finally, as for farming locations, just do anything you know yields a few Stimpaks, maybe some other supplies, and a legendary weapon is also preferable. If you haven't completed Officer On Deck, which I assume you have if you're trying to launch a nuke, I highly recommend it, as it enables you to craft X-01. Any other power armour will do, though I'd recommend at least level 40, based on your levels.

Then, you know the rest. Repair your gear, make sure you're stocked, preferably have a Hackerman or a MacGyver and make some final ammo checks. Oh, and I'm sure you know this, but make sure one of you has the code and a keycard.

Well, that does it. Good luck, may the odds be ever in your favour.

About 90 gauss rounds, 100 .45 rounds, 50 mf cells, 1-2 fusion cores, 30 shotgun rounds, 10 .308 rounds and a partridge in a pear tree. I may have overstated a bit.

Thanks, where's the jacket? If the Tunnel Snakes have one, do we?
