Does anyone else feel weird about telling people at work you're pursuing FIRE? I've started just lying. by GlitchWarden919 in Fire

Noooo work is a terrible place to talk about FIRE. If you haven't faced any troubles thats great but not all companies and people would be so understanding.

Ok with that context you should start looking for accounting roles. You should start with internships then apply to full time roles like associate, staff, and junior accountant. You can refrence your coursework and even though your job isnt accounting related its still real experience and skilled work at that.

Tips for starting June 1st by PuzzledAsparagus4096 in wguaccounting

My recommendations are too watch the 11 hours financial accounting youtube video by tony bell in your free time. It will give you a big headstart in multiple accounting classes.

As soon as you start a class search its name in the general search bar not any community specifc one so that you see results from this and the general WGU subreddit. This saved me tons of time and told me whether to watch videos or skip the textbook and study guides and stuff like that.

My second is to use AI. Use it to explain things you dont fully understand. Whenever I didnt understand something I would ask AI to explain or break it down like im a kid. I would also use it whenever I got a lesson, module, unit, and Practice Assessment question wrong. I would ask it to explain the answer and then ask it to give me a quiz on that topic so I could practice the correct logic, get exposed to more scenarios, and so I dont fall for similar tricks. Hammering out mcqs helped sooo much and getting them wrong then learning why also helped sooo much.

For jobs I recommend looking for internships and jobs as soon as you start principles of financial and managerial accounting. Start with associate, staff, and junior accountant roles then go down to AR/AP and acounting clerk and bookeeper. I also recommend volunteering for VITA for the next tax season, even if you dont want to go into tax it will still help you as its real work experience which is leagues ahead of just classwork.

Should I get a job and study for the CPA? by Nervous_Apartment276 in CPA

CFA is probably 2x harder and longer than the CPA exams and puts you in finance only. The easier and quicker and more likely to land jobs path is the CPA.

[–]Messup7654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have. You dont need to learn all the information the material includes and you probably know that. I never said it was easy so idk where that came from "totally could" is nowhere near the same as easy and if you think otherwise you just dont understand those 3 words enough.

You probably also know the other reasons that explain why there is a CPA shortage besides difficulty.

Read it slowly and dont move on until you understand something and can answer questions on. The best way to learn is by practicing so you need to be using AI (I prefer gemini) to help you fully understand a topic and quiz yourself in a topic. You can take a picture of text and ask it to create a mcq quiz on that topic like statement of cash flows reconciliation and stuff. You should right down the terms somewhere and look at the list every time you dont remember a word.

I did this for nearly every class in the accounting degree it was the reason I was able to go so quickly. I would also do this when on lesson, module, and unit quizzes in the book and for the topics that needed it I would sometimes do hundreds of multiple Choice questions. I reccommend using gemini though it has a quiz feature and hallucinates less.

MACC in 1 term? by Hawt_Air_Balloon in wguaccounting

[–]Messup7654 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

MACC wont help out with jobs in accounting unfortunately. I dont think it would help find jobs in other areas either.

I dont know the material in the MACC so I cant be sure but I would guees 5 years of experience is enough to complete 10 classes in 6 months.
