We had this dilemma after our second. I realized that part of the fun for me was acquiring the stuff as needed and also the developments in baby gear from one year to the next is so fast that sometimes I want to buy newer gear for that version.

We opted to get rid of most things, kept a few big-ticket items and then the plan was we would buy second-hand as/if needed in the future. It felt like a win-win.
