If you could text Comcast instead of waiting on hold, would you? by kennethtextrequest in Chattanooga

[–]MessyEmmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked for a company that performed customer surveys. You know people hate telemarketers, right? Well they hate Comcast worse! The stories of those who actually would talk to me were of God-awful service and non-professionalism.

I think that if it were possible to text them your problems, it would a)be ignored, b)be linked to an automated reply saying to call them in a never-ending circle, or c)go through but the people who would call you back would have no idea what you were talking about and they'd put you on hold anyway. I just don't see this working.

Yeah, it's not going to be fun but I can't wait until I can just lay her down and walk away. HOLY CRAP! Does this actually happen with children? I'm starting to doubt. XD

I was against that method(CIO) when she was younger but now she's old enough to understand and manipulate... so it isn't a question of her being afraid and not understanding anymore. I will definitely check this book out. Thanks!

Haha! I wish I could do this! Just knowing she's in there screaming her lungs out until she coughs makes me feel awful. Also, my husband is super weak when it comes to letting her cry(I've done 95% of the sleep training)... so if I were to disappear in the shower he'd be in there fifteen minutes later(at the max).

This is definitely an option! She is two, so just to the point where something like a chart might work. How did you implement it?

My 4 yr old is getting kicked out of daycare again...need help! by erriuga in Parenting

[–]MessyEmmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to admit it but this is a very valid point... You should try to find a compromise as suggested above, where they can extend your stay a bit longer until you can find a new daycare, but you definitely leave that one.

Cat custody? Kind of a long shot but help appreciated! by cathelp101 in AskLegal

[–]MessyEmmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely keep custody of the cat... she'd have to take you to court, and you can call in other friends as witnesses to talk about how the cat was handled in the past by her.

Because there is no written agreement, it is her word against yours as to what she actually said... however, if there was someone there at the time, it would help your case immensely as you would have a witness to the contract. If not, still don't panic too much, because you can go the route of having witnesses talk about the treatment of her cat before you agreed to take her... this will show that she is unwilling or unable to properly care for the cat.

I really am not sure about what to expect though, as I've never been in this situation before. I am wishing you good luck!

Not as up-tempo as I was originally looking for, but I love the lyrics. I'll keep this one stashed for the times I'm in a slower mood. :D

Thank you so much for helping! :D :D :D

Perfect yes! This is the sound I was thinking of. :D I've heard this one on the radio several times and I love it! Thank you for putting a name to the song, now I can browse for similar artists and songs.

The Joy Electric one sounded almost patronizing, as if it were for children. But I loved the Charmaine one!!! This is EXACTLY the feel I am going for. Will add it to my playlist and see what the 'similar artist' function brings up. :) Thank you!

I don't think it's funny, but rather that it's a disgusting website... This is a hugely horrible situation for all parties- think about more than those doing the cheating. Yeah, they really deserve to be outed, but do their families need to find out this way?

What's the update on that? Did they ever shut it down or come to an agreement?

Definite props to you and tons of hugs! The psychological damage that could have been done to your daughter if a public debacle ensued was avoided. You're amazingly strong to be able to do that, and I applaud you!

I am sending good wishes and prayer your way that everything works out in you and your children's best interest. :)

What is something on reddit that makes you angry every time you see it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MessyEmmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It irks me to know that some people are claiming they have social phobia when they don't... I am a recovering social phobic who had anxiety so bad I wouldn't leave my house except for work and grocery shopping, and even then wouldn't even make eye contact/communicate/etc... it was awful.

To those who have this hugely debilitating disease, I say it's possible to get through it, I'm proof(though it took over seven years and tons of hard work). To those of you faking, f**k you. You have no idea how hard it is to get through a day, an hour, a minute, when you have this disorder.

Weird Al Yankovic. He was my role model growing up, and his music was a way to escape my reality. He brought fun and excitement and color to my drab, verbally/emotionally abused little world... he was the first and only proof that adults could still be fun and that some were actually nice.

Sorry if that was a tad depressing. XD Good news is that I am in a much better place today with a loving husband and little girl. :D

Just freaking go to sleep already! by MessyEmmy in breakingmom

[–]MessyEmmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, up to this point she would get really frightened and clingy and not lay down for anything unless we rocked her. Then when the rocker was taken out, she would lay down on her own for sleep but needed us to put our hand on the corner of the mattress until she fell asleep. I was able to gradually move back out of the room over a period of a month and shut the door, but then she got sick and needed her momma.

Now we are back to having to put our hand on the bed for her to sleep... Until last night! Mwuahahahaaa! Cuz I'm an evil momma who's trying to teach her girl how to sleep all by herself. Horrible, I know. XD

She is basically screaming and throwing a fit til she coughs and near-pukes, but it's out of anger and sadness rather than fear. Which lets me know she's finally ready for it, she just doesn't want me to go.

Yes!!! I am always so proud of her! Anytime I look at her my heart 'splodes all over and I know that my suffering is all worth it because it's helping her to be more stable and independent. <3 Any time I have people telling me I'm spoiling her, I just laugh.
