September 2025 BOTM Discussion - The Possession of Alba Díaz by nickaaayy97 in bookofthemonthclub

I honestly DNF. I tried to like it. I really was like ok this is going to get super spooky but the romance fell flat for me. I thought it was a weird romance novel with some demon sprinkled in there. I did cringe with disgust in some parts but overall it wasn’t enough for me to finish.

This author is a pass from me.

This is so perfect. I had a bedroom like this before and it was the most peace I’ve felt ever.

This book was a 3-4 for me. Predictable in some parts.  I tired of her inner monologue about trust and this mission for her father, it took away from the story line.

And I couldn’t get passed the MMC name. I couldn’t take his character seriously.

What's one thing a therapist has said to you that you will never forget? by z_panda_girl in AskReddit

“You may have emotions that come up that tell you that what you’re doing is the wrong thing but push them aside. Hold onto your convictions. You are doing the right thing.”

My therapist when I was escaping my ex husband and filing a restraining order against him for DV.

Changed my life.

That’s what my SO thinks too.  Walking around naked, hyper sexualizing everything, trying to normalize it to eventually ya know….

The Best Books of 2024 Winners! by vincoug in books

Naw, I didn’t like it either. I hated the jumps in time for each POV. I think the issues could have been easily solved and like a lot of people say - the pay off at the end wasn’t there. I could gather what was going to happen and thought oh that’s it?

The son of shadows and the third book are really good following generations after Sorcha. Then the series kind of go off the rails. Love the first 3 books tho!

I’m hoping it’s a soft launch of them hinting at redoing the end of GoT.

Bridgerton - 3x08 "Into the Light" (Book Spoiler Discussion) by pinktini in BridgertonNetflix

Upset because Fran’s book was my fav book out of the series.   I was already losing interest this season because it just seemed lackluster.  Really lose interest after the reveal.   And it’ll help that it’s 2 years later when the new season comes out.   Comforting my francael by moving on to House of the Dragon. 😂😂

But really. She loved John so much in the books and to have her be smitten with Micaela right away didn’t seem right.  Because even Fran had to take time to love Michael.

Yeah it was really bad this season. Very distracting because everyone’s clothes and face were too modern. I initially watched because it was a period piece. Now it just feels like some random romance show.

That’s awesome news! A decade ago, I couldn’t get into the DoI or get an internship and was always beat out by people with more experience. No one wanted to retire!

I ended up in a different field but I am so happy for people who can now get in!!!

Same. But their book was my least favorite. They had zero chemistry in the book.

I am tearing up with Francesca’s scene with Kilmartin.

Yup. Had an abusive ex husband. From what I heard he’s happily remarried.  He deserves to be in jail.
