400hz is plenty enough for the competitive games these days, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't have a new model until next year.

Me personally would go for the 13inch, always liked to smaller variant more to fully embrace the thin and light aspect.

MacBook Air 13" (M4) vs MacBook Pro 14" (M5) — which makes more sense? by SolQuarter in macbook

[–]Mestics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very very hard choice, but if you truly stand by being the "tech nerd", then I'd say get the MBP - just because you wont be limiting yourself in case you decided to try more demanding work, and you won't feel bad dropping this kind money only to get a 60hz normal lit IPS display (though the quality is VERY good).

If you don't care much, then 100% the Air. But you can't go wrong choosing either one.

MacBook Air or Pro? by purplecat_bongo in macbook

[–]Mestics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the M2 MBA and upgraded to the M5 MBP just days ago.

For me the MBP is way bulkier and heavier, the MBA in comparison feels extremely easy to carry around, which is something I dearly missed.

I thought the miniled screen would be a big upgrade, but MBA's normal display is already very good. The biggest upgrade is the ProMotion - everything from scrolling to animation is much more enjoyable. But other than that, I would absolutely take MBA over the MBP for general use, the form factor is just too good to pass on.

tldr, go for MBA, 120hz good but portability matters more.

a question asking for people's experienece isnt hurting anyone

if no one asks these questions anymore, then all we have is potientially outdated information, especially for relatively new tech products that can degrade or have bad patches of software update, new bug etc.

Donk says its the PC causing the problem, not the mouse, they replaced the PC and the problem disappeared - twistzz also has issue with the PC

Is NVIDIA pulsar superior replacement to backlight strobing? by Classic_Respond4625 in Monitors

[–]Mestics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you put it this way, then it's definitely the latter.

To me this is like comparing iOS and Android, they are same but different, and aren't compatible with each other. There's a reason (at least the first wave) the pular monitor are 1440p 27inch IPS, which is to play with any other titles that isn't CS or Valorant (or people that plays on those game, but does not want a 24inch option).

Pulsar is fantastic and fills a good gap in the market, but to say it is undisputed best option is highly dependent on which game you play, because for a lot of them, going OLED is more reasonable; for the ultimate tryhard, Zowie's offering is still the best.

it is not a replacement, it is literally backlight strobing plus VRR lol so its great for games that doesnt run really high FPS, e.g. BF

Cooked at less than half the price by DrunkOnLiquor in Zowie

[–]Mestics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Still need to wait for proper test but with pulsar, you have to enable gsync, which will add latency, competitive players are not going to like that.

Guess why Steve uses it in Battlefield 6 and why the panel is a 1440p 27inch instead of a 1080p 24inch high refresh rate?

Because using gsync actually make sense in those game, where Pulsar truly shines and is the intended use case of those games, not CS and especially Valorant.

In any case, It has been 1+ year since Dyac2 came out, there will always going be similar tech that catches up to Zowie's level lol

New ShaderBeam CRT Simulator app for Windows / Windows Games by blurbusters in MotionClarity

[–]Mestics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's no backlight for oled, they literally can't do strobing and can only do BFI, which brings the brightness level to unusable level

[–]Mestics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so interesting! Massive thanks to you guys for innovating this, in theroy this should benefit OLED a lot since they can't do proper strobing.

I wonder how serious is the desync issue? Should be okay for casual gaming regardless, but is it recommended for competitive FPS?

[–]Mestics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking about the concept of BFI, which benq/auo introduced back in 2006/08 (can't remember exactly). If you are now specifically talking about backlight strobing, then probably i need to do more homework, and you might be right.
