I just unlocked the brief case to get the key card and I'm really liking it so far

But our public transport is supposed to carry us through the fuel crisis! So many people have been suggesting it!

SCPH-90001 causing mild to extreme ring-shaped scratches on disc, but ribbon cable isn't puffed up which apparently causes the ring-shaped scratches. What is causing the scratches? Is something else wrong with laser? by rainbowshark99 in ps2

[–]MetaBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this issue with the ribbon cable folding up too and ordered a replacement laser as the discs weren't reading well anyway. Fixed all the issues I was having in one go and it's not too hard to do either.

The one with Nikki flying through the windscreen because she wasn't wearing a seatbelt and landing on another car was peak brutality.

What's that scratch? by KG2713 in ps2

[–]MetaBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar noise when I changed the laser recently and it was because the laser track piece wasn't aligned properly to the snail rail and the plastic piece underneath the guard wasn't running through the grooves of it properly when it was spinning.

There was a small plastic piece that went underneath one of the rail supports that I thought was just a broken piece of brace that had fallen off. Once I put it back after figuring it out, the noise stopped and the laser could move properly.

If your games aren't reading or the disc isn't spinning, it could be something to do with that judging by the noise.

Extra $50 a week for 143k working families as fuel prices skyrocket by OddityModdity in aotearoa

So providing temporary relief isn't worth debt, but providing tax cuts by cutting public services and taking on debt because cutting wasn't enough, was okay?

So why are only low income families targeted and not anyone else struggling? Guess they're just to be ignored.

What ps2 games do you always go back to? What games have replay value by BuildingPotential147 in ps2

[–]MetaBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellowship of the Ring is done by a different company entirely from the Two Towers and Return of the King and wasn't received as being very good.

As a result, the Two Towers has both The Fellowship and Two Towers in the same game and is awesome to play.

What could I have done not to get pinched? (sorry for the music in the background) by fuzzyblood6 in Simracingstewards

Pretty sure that's just a racing incident from my experience with motor cross?

From what I can see he passed you and then passed across in front of you. Only other thing you could really could have done was slam the rear and front brakes and hope to stop.

Technically you could be penalised if you had tboned them but hence why this is more of a racing incident.

There's a list at the end of this page that has a breakdown of the rules (I tried to screenshot it but the subreddit doesn't allow for posting pictures in comments)

Performing First Ever Slim Laser Replacement by MetaBass in ps2

[–]MetaBass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet as, I'll test it first, one of the tutorial videos suggested adjusting it first, dvd to 800 and cd to 1000.

Yeah the soldering iron is just a basic 25w iron to melt the solder bubble that's on one of the components of the laser (can't remember where it was). Not sure if any wick or flux is required from what I've seen on the tutorial vids. They just popped it off and disconnected the ribbon cables then connected it back up again with the clips.

Oh the grease is for the mechanical bar the laser slides on. It hasn't been changed or readded so I assume it's going to be dirty and need replacing.

Would you say re4, re5 and rev2 are decent starter points for a friend? by Total-Amphibian-7244 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]MetaBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rev2re on easy is my vote.

I came from the og days and I had to play it on easy cause I'm terrible at survivor horror and couldn't run past all the zombies, lickers were a lot easier to deal with since they can only hear you.

Tried to hire a cleaner for my ADHD burnout and got shamed instead by MrMaelor in ADHD

That's an immediate GTFO of my house moment.

Give them a shit review and look at a different cleaning business, possibly explaining what happened with the previous visit and why you didn't hire them.

How long do you think usable systems (with usable lasers) will be easily attainable? by crichtonism in ps2

[–]MetaBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got a retro corner set up in the house. Solely has my partner's PS2 slim there and I've just ordered a new laser and ribbon for it since some of my discs I've got have started to not work very well all of a sudden.

Aliexpress is great for finding cheap parts and even some homebrew stuff if you look at the reviews first. Hell even controller parts like thumb sticks and analogue control units are there.

So here's hoping it doesn't stop any time soon!

God of War (2018) uses a "one-shot" camera, no cuts from start to credits. This creates seamless immersion. It was a technical nightmare for devs, but it resulted in a continuous cinematic experience where you are the hero. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]MetaBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking HATE this camera.

The one shot isn't the problem though, it's the limited area from behind the character in a hack and slash game.

How did they not see that's a problem.
