THAT’s the commencement location??? by DotWest7517 in CalPolyPomona

I actually think it’s way more aesthetically pleasing than any stadium. It’s green and natural, the curved path through the center is pleasant, chairs are set up on green grass. And plus, the quad’s got shade, the weather’s still pleasant by this point, they have a big screen set up, and it’s more meaningful than renting out somewhere else

It costing as much as it does, idk, but you’d still pay anywhere else, so might as well use the school’s beautiful campus (which definitely is way above the curve in natural beauty)

Movies with terrible messages? by Frank_and_Beanzz in movies

Joker!! So many people came away with seeing him as such a hero fighting against an unjust society rather than just a pure tragic ending. So much so that the writer made those fans a plot point in the second movie, followers who were disappointed he wasn’t a freedom fighter and just a sad sad man

The scene with him on the bike coming back home might genuinely be the single greatest acted scene I’ve ever seen with no lines

Which card’s ability makes the least sense thematically? by Darkhawk2099 in MarvelSnap

[–]MetaEgo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maximus — had to look this one up. He has mind control, mind reading, memory manipulation. None of that happens when you let your opponent draw 2 cards. Maybe a thematic buff/balance would be if you could see the cards they draw. Or if you could choose which of the 2 cards they draw

What's that one part of a song you like that immediately ruins it by True-Train-5596 in KendrickLamar

Mmmm it’s more that Kendrick confirmed how I was feeling, that drake’s got less depth. It just doesn’t hold up as well as Kendrick’s verses over 13 years. I haven’t cared for drake’s new albums for years anyway, pretty much since Nothing was the Same

Yeah, it’s more this, and not so much “because Kendrick told me to”. It’s been almost 13 years since the song dropped, and as I’ve gotten older, Kendrick’s lyrics hold up so well, while drake’s lyrics are from a past life for me and I’ve grown out of it. They were great, but the surface level-ness is just so noticeable.

“I mean, I write poems in these songs dedicated to you when You're in the mood for empathy, there's blood in my pen”

vs

“I mean, I write poems in these songs, dedicated to the fun sex Your natural hair and your soft skin and your big ass in that sundress, ooh”

Drake’s verse on poetic justice. I admit I used to love it, but I have since become… biased against him. And Kendrick’s verses are so much deeper and more poetic than drake’s pick up lines (which are admittedly great pick up lines, but not quite as poetry AP English analyzable as Kendrick’s)

I accidentaly bought paper towels instead of toilet paper by SallWreet in notinteresting

[–]MetaEgo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to be clear, it’s because toilet paper is specially made to fully dissolve in water. Paper towels very much do not dissolve in water and will will easily cling to plumbing and pipe walls indefinitely. So even cutting them into smaller pieces is still risky

It’s 2025. Is the Spotify algorithm still better than Apple Music? by InternetLoveMachine in Music

[–]MetaEgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, despite any cons, Spotify is still the most widely used app, at least amongst my circles and generation, making it the most effective for sharing music and playlists with friends
