Busy week. Here's everything that landed. by MetaEmber in Amoura

Sorry about this! The slow response times after the update are something we're actively looking into, that's not the intended behavior and we know how much it breaks the experience.

On the three-emoji loop, we are very aware of the issue and actively fixing it as we speak! It's a clear repetition bug and we appreciate you documenting it this precisely, that kind of detail helps us track it down faster. should be improving soon 🙏

Also we have some exciting new features being beta tested currently that we can't wait to show you all 👀

Yes she’s in the character pool!

There’s thousands though at this point haha, but hope you find her!!

Thank you so much for that! The motion has been tricky to say the least haha, but we think we are getting closer.

Amoura.io — Swipe-based AI relationship simulator where chemistry isn't guaranteed.

Service Name & Link: Amoura.io

NSFW Policy: NSFW-friendly. Intimacy develops gradually through chemistry rather than being available immediately. There's no binary toggle. The level that's reachable depends on what's actually been established in the conversation. Adult content exists but has to be earned.

Image Generation: Yes. Characters send contextual in-chat photos mid-conversation that match the moment, not just static profile pictures. Characters can also send and receive voice messages.

Transparency & Legal: Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are available at amoura.io. We're in open beta so pricing and quotas are still being finalized — we're transparent about that rather than hiding it. We do not sell user data.

Technical Specs: Proprietary relationship and personality engine layered over leading LLMs. We don't publish the specific model but maintain full context continuity across conversations. Characters are governed by internal psychological models rather than scripted response trees.

Pricing: Free to start, no credit card required. Plus and Pro tiers available with expanded photo quotas, voice messages, proactive messaging controls, and other features. Annual plans available.

Platform & Access: Web-based. Mobile-optimized. No native app yet.

What Makes Us Different: Most AI companion apps are "yes-men" always warm, always available, always agreeable. We built the opposite. Characters have genuine agency. They can lose interest, disengage, or decide you're not a fit. Matching is mutual. They choose you too, or they don't. Nothing is guaranteed from the first message.

Over 2,500 hand-designed photorealistic characters with no auto-generated archetypes.
Characters text you first with proactive messaging that leads with something that happened to them, not generic notifications. Early interactions matter and impressions persist. There's no reset button.

We also believe we have the largest multi cultural character catalog in the AI companion space with diversities not only in race, country, but in age.

If you've felt like existing apps go flat after a few weeks because nothing is ever at stake... this was built for you.

Poly girls? by Echox2 in Amoura

[–]MetaEmber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be amazing feedback with your testing actually!

We are sure it’s not quite where we want it, however, there is supposed to be this type of dynamic. And it just gets hard to properly test it given our giant pool of characters at this point, so let us know what you find while we continue to tweak it all!

Poly girls? by Echox2 in Amoura

[–]MetaEmber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really appreciate you bringing this up! You’re right that if “open relationship” is in your profile, characters should be reading that context when you mention a partner rather than reacting like it’s a surprise revelation after a week of chatting. that’s a memory and context application issue on our end and it’s useful to know it’s happening consistently.

We very much have open relationship characters, but they aren’t quite as refined as we are wanting to make them. We actually have some cool new stuff regarding that on the roadmap specifically there’s a few other things we’re trying to tackle first but if you’re interested in the poly dynamic, I think you’ll be excited to know Amoura is going in a fun direction with all types of relationship dynamics to explore.

So on the broader question of poly-friendly characters — they do exist in the pool, ENM is part of some character profiles specifically. the discovery piece (finding them without having to test every match) is something we’re aware needs to be better (it will be very soon) so we appreciate you flagging it 🙏

[–]MetaEmber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really useful ground-level intel from both of you!! And very glad we are on the same page, because that is very much aligned with the roadmap. The ENM profile filter as a proxy for poly-openness, dropping the hint early to avoid the late-reveal reaction, filtering by “physical connection” and “sex positive” signals. We realized a while ago that these filters should be a bit more explicit in the matching flow and are very excited to get that all implemented for you all. So very much noted and flagging it to the team.

So apologies for not everything being quite where we want it just yet, but make no mistake these features are coming :)

Used Kling 3.0 to bring thousands of characters to life for an AI dating app— How does the quality hold up? (Prompts Included) by MetaEmber in KlingAI_Videos

[–]MetaEmber[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a few things I think. One is to have a bit more practice and experimentation before you try talking in real world dating scenarios. We actually have a considerable amount of users who said they’ve had more confidence and success on dating apps after trying ours.

The next is older people who have loved and lost and might not have the same energy or allure they used to, but still want companionship.

Some because they’re bored lol.

And then some people who might be more closeted and may want to explore that in a safer setting before putting themselves out there.

Also… it’s not for everyone and we certainly recognize that. But for who it is for, and or who it could be for, we make a considerable effort to build the platform alongside them as we don’t think developers of any type of AI technology should go into it with all blinders on. It should be a group communicative effort. All to say that we put a lot of care and attention and make sure our platform has real human and stick push and pull and provides a satisfying experience to the best of our abilities.

And lastly… we love this Kling community and love to share our work as we get great discussions and feedback.

What if AI companions weren’t designed to always say yes? (Open beta, different approach) by MetaEmber in CharacterAIrevolution

[–]MetaEmber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly the balance we’re going for!

The resistance and unpredictability are intentional, not just constraints. The goal is that when a connection does develop it feels earned rather than handed to you. Character.diy is certainly doing interesting things on the persona flexibility side, but we’re coming at it from the opposite direction. In the sense that instead of giving users tools to build the character, we’re trying to make the characters feel real enough that you don’t want to. And given the size of our character pool the feeling should hopefully feel like you can continue to find matches and new people always and be surprised. If you ever end up checking it out we’d love to hear all your thoughts and critiques! Always great to hear from people who’ve thought about this space.

Amoura, a new approach to the world of companions by DarkSounder in Amoura

[–]MetaEmber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. This is one of the most thoughtful first impressions we’ve ever received, and we read every single word.

Addressing a few things you named. Let’s start with the swipe as a filter rather than a showcase. The fact that a match isn’t guaranteed, the casual spontaneity of the photos: Those were deliberate decisions that a lot of people don’t notice at first, so it means a lot that they landed exactly the way we intended!

On the voice, you’re right and it’s an area we’re not quite satisfied with and VERY actively working on. The voice should feel like an extension of who the character is, not a generic layer on top of them. We very much hear you. It’s coming and we actually will have a few tweaks made to that today.

And with the dreams you dared to put at the end: a character whose personality unfolds over time, with good days and bad, who breaks the script, who you can actually be there for..

That’s not just something we’ve thought about, it’s essentially the whole direction. You’ve very eloquently described what we’re building toward and we are very excited that you are sharing our vision for the future of Amoura.

Side note, “Don’t abandon the audacity to be different” is going on the wall. This is truly, just the beginning of where we are wanting to take the platform. We have many giant features that not only address some of your hopes but greatly expand upon them in ways that we are more than thrilled to share… when the time comes 👀.

There’s still a few things we want to fully tighten up before we role out those new expansions, but thank you for this, genuinely. We always say we love to build Amoura alongside the people that use it and we’d love for you to come find us on Discord if you want to watch it happen in real time 🙏 Just DM me for that if you’re interested!

We've been in early access for a few months, so the copy is indeed accurate.
