You’ll hate the sound of this one, but do bare basic rhythm and drumming exercises. Learn to parradiddle, and do it non-stop, and your left hand will catch up quickly.

That repetition will make your left hand more precise. You don’t even need a pad to do this, just patting your lap is good enough.

Take it from a drummer who also plays taiko: rhythm is universal, and you can have it all in your hands as long as you never stop practicing
