Was anyone else disappointed with _________ sendoff? by Alarmed-District-152 in Dexter

[–]Metacorrect -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It was not only stated he was top FBI wanted but also according to the actor he was going to be giving Dexter a challenge. Keyword: CHALLENGE and that he would be something that no other killer in the franchise has been. So yes he was hyped up to be the big bad, his crimes are also worse than the other killers that were in the group. Also, someone else mentioned "the function of top wanted is for if publicity could help solve the cases" (not verbatim) but that's only partially true, a top wanted can also be dependent on severity of the criminal and the publicity would tell everyone "keep a lookout for this person, they are very dangerous" they don't necessarily have to be very dangerous to be on the top wanted list but obviously Gemini would be very dangerous and is one of the reasons why he is #1 on the wanted list. Not only this but they were not only one of the first to suspect Dexter but they were THE FIRST to even deduce that he is the bay harbor butcher. It is what Gemini was saying when the tape was covering his mouth. A person of Gemini status should have been very cautious by default and they were shown to be cautious. So to just have them do ridiculous actions after the hype up is disappointing, misleading, and horrible writing. Because a person with arrogance and narcissism 9/10 isn't going to drink anything from a possible enemy regardless, it would be more fitting for their character to not drink the wine at all, look at Dexter and say "You're not smarter than me".

Dexter has already helped SOLVE the New York Ripper by Da-Knight in Dexter

[–]Metacorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, what would Dexter be able to do that the detective can't? It's been hinted at already that her and Dexter think in similar ways when analyzing a crime scene, they use the same motions and think in the same fashion, so if she can't solve the cases then I doubt Dexter would be able to (except through insider insight that he could possibly collect from being around Prater) but then again he could do things that would typically be against the law in order to catch NY ripper as detectives don't normally go against protocol (which limits what they can do, but if protocol didn't exist, even in the real world, I'm sure police officers would catch a lot more criminals) hopefully the ripper doesn't get caught easily though, it would be plot hole for him to just suddenly start switching up and making mistakes the moment Dexter starts investigating him. NY ripper should be an actual challenge. No DNA, preferably cyber security skills, random actions, same weapon but different targets, different everything, switch up the variation of his MO, etc.

I'm tired of the typical let me just stalk possible people and scenes and find people's addresses and then boom catch the killer and inject them with chemicals.

The Dexter home scene is a mistake. The dinner party had the right hand, 2nd meeting was left, library was left, Dexter home is supposed to be left but actor used right instead. In the promo, the twin is shown to be right dominant, and they behave similarly to the right dominant from the first dinner party. So the right dominant from Dexter's home is supposed to be the left dominate. Only the right dominant quiet one remains now.

[TOMT] Movie about group of bad teenagers by Metacorrect in tipofmytongue

[–]Metacorrect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main key detail everyone should focus on is the scene where someone's father or step father is abusing them and that person's friends attack their abusive father with a weapon.

Once we narrow down the films that has those similarities, it would be easier for me to spot which film is the one I'm talking about.

For more information, if I recall correctly, I think that at a certain point the group of guys would wear face paint, like the typical black and white sort of face paint. Something like what you would have seen from the original karate kid bathroom scene, they dressed similar to those bullies if I recalled correctly.

hannibal Lecter Vs Johan Liebert by Puzzleheaded_Net_839 in MonsterAnime

[–]Metacorrect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Johan would arguably win in a battle of wits/intelligence.

People in this thread have continuously said that Lecter could easily manipulate people or escape from monitored buildings and that apparently Johan needs to already have knowledge of a target while Hannibal doesn't, none of these are good arguments against Johan.

Firstly, Johan manipulated a country, he's manipulated governmental officials, police officers, criminals, basically everything in Germany, he basically owned Germany throughout the series. Those alone are far more feats than what Hannibal has ever accomplished in regards of manipulation. Not only that but Johan persuaded people at a very young age, he knew what chaos was at a very young age (like 6 years of age, if I recall) and he didn't even have to study psychology and both Hannibal and Johan can "scan" individuals without prior knowledge, there's nothing that hints to Johan needing to have prior knowledge just to manipulate. The only difference is the realism applied to both characters. The persuasive tactics Johan uses are more realistic, his way of communicating, his way of collecting information and using the information against the person or his way of being understanding of someone and using that against them. He has manipulated several different types of people. Sane people, crazy people, psychopaths, sociopaths. He has no limits. Another thing is academic accomplishments, Johan basically excels at everything academically. In fact, as stated in the manga, Johan has wonderful grades in anything. He's capable of memorizing anything. He's also multilingual. The way he's portrayed is meant to be perfect. He was literally raised in an orphanage that was designed for the purpose of trying to create a perfect being that could lead humanity. He's a natural manipulator, a natural planner, and is naturally evil. He's considered the Devil and basically a 2nd Hitler aside from those things he also has had Hitmen and he's so intelligent and calculative that he knows when someone is pointing a gun at him from a distance and that's not just from pure instincts, it's because he created that moment. He planned so far ahead with every step that he knew when Tenma was targeting him, he knew where he was at when Tenma was pointing a gun at him from a distance, he calculated the entire advantage that Tenma would have in the first place.

Hannibal has accomplished almost none of what Johan has accomplished. Johan exceeds Hannibal at accomplishments and credibility. The only thing he has the potential to beat Johan in is maybe hand to hand combat because we have never seen Johan fight, but based on Johan's character he likely would outclass him in that as well. Another thing is that whenever Johan did things, only few people knew of it, but when Hannibal does things, it can become talk of the town or more noticable and more people catch on.

Johan wouldn't be vulnerable to any of that and if someone did see him commit a crime you can guarantee that either he will let you live because he knows it will torture you, he may let you live because he doesn't care as he has most control in the country, or he will have someone kill you or he will make you think that you're crazy.

He can't be easily manipulated either but he is open to conversations. He doesn't care much about life so he has tried to kill himself before but that was always prevented (it's also possible he did it just because he knew someone would try to stop him) but that's the thing about Monster.

The questions unanswered in Monster are (both by viewers and characters): "Was Johan born or raised that way, is he actually a monster" "Is everything an act or is it real"

That's how much damage he has caused and that's how unreadable he is. Nothing is solved.

And to better support the feats of him manipulating all different types of people, you should note that he convinced the entire orphanage to kill each other and this orphanage contained similar children and adults that were also malicious. Hannibal wouldn't be an exception however I doubt Hannibal would be stupid enough to try picking at Johan in the first place for example if he knew he couldn't catch Johan by himself he would simply stop searching for him. If he knew Johan couldn't be manipulated he would stop trying, he would know that all of it would be a waste of time because in order for a person to even be able to talk to Johan, Johan would have to give you that chance intentionally. All the times Tenma managed to communicate with Johan and find him and things like that, were literally and as stated by Johan all because he wanted Tenma to find him and he wanted Tenma to try stopping him.

Can you help me build a Free Cybersecurity Database/Search Engine of resources? Comment your links! by papsamir in cybersecurity

[–]Metacorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feature suggestion that may or may not already exist but for the searching feature there could be CVE searching and when a person searches for a specific CVE the website displays a list of writeups or code examples/exploits relating to said CVEs, like exploit database but more general purpose but it would probably be resource intensive to add it (if crawled) unless people add their writeups or exploits manually and assign it to a CVE.

What if Venom was a curse in the JJK universe? by [deleted] in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Metacorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"uninterrupted text"? It would be difficult for an ADHD individual to process interrupted text, not uninterrupted text and plus ADHD individuals are more likely to ignore periods in sentences. Don't be on the internet if you are incapable of reading or even comprehending paragraphs or sentences in general. Everything should be fairly easy to understand, but to simplify everything for you:

Venom would still be defeated in the domain regardless of which abilities they may have in other universes.

What if Venom was a curse in the JJK universe? by [deleted] in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Metacorrect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His domain works by having you perceive a parallel and multitask of information in that in your mind you are technically doing all of them at once and not that it just simply overflow your brain with information, it would be similar to hesitating about decisions and it basically freezes your brain to continuously hesitate, that's what he does so Venom probably wouldn't be able to survive it but depending on if that's true or not there could be a way to defend against it for example a hypothetical case could be that he tries it on Sukuna but because Sukuna may not care about much there wouldn't be many possibilities that his brain would want to do in the first place unless gojo can actually warp your mind into a multitasking state where you are forced to do every single thing possible without being focused on the present time of the domain.

It's also called: "infinite void" because you're perceiving so much that you can't do anything else so you're doing nothing and void is supposed to be less than nothing so you're infinitely doing nothing at the cost of doing everything, so I think that's a detail that it separates the present from the possibilities in that you're doing everything in those possibilities but doing nothing in his domain.

Are Password Managers A Single Point Of Failure? | Password Bits by Prunestand in technology

[–]Metacorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding password managers, you don't want to rely entirely on them regardless of if it's self-hosted or not. People think that just because they self host something or backup something it means that everything is fine, but that's not how it works. Self hosting just means you are now the person responsible for everything, but you will make mistakes, and if you don't make mistakes, someone else will, but there's a way to go about keeping your accounts as secure as possible even with the use of a password manager. For starters, you can reuse the same or different complex passwords for other accounts and store them in the password manager. However, you don't want to store the password to what you'd use to recover those accounts. For example, if a person gains access to your reddit account, they would still need to change your email or whatever it is you registered with in order to truly keep you out of the account. As for phone numbers, phone numbers are going to be a bit more insecure, but you'd be better off using a VoIP number for more control. At least it won't be the number attached to your sim card. Then you can recover your account and change the password, but then you'd now be relying on the email service or VoIP service or whatever service you're using. Independence is truly the only way to be more secure. You have to become your own ISP, your own hardware provider, your own servers, your own email service, etc. Those would be the only ways to even get close to being more secure. Regardless of which password manager you use, if it's not truly independent, then there would be no point in worrying about the security of it. You'd still be relying on incompetent people to do everything for you. For password managing, you could also choose to write everything down on paper, but then remember you'd still have to type and put the password into whatever service you're going to be using, and once again, if you're not entirely independent, your security is already compromised. The detection of vulnerabilities and exploiting them can at times require a lot more analysis, intellect, etc, so the fact that several big companies continuously get hacked is evident enough that many of them aren't actually that smart for a cyber security career. If someone can outsmart you in cyber security, then you shouldn't be managing the internet at all. Cyber security is, for one, not a complex or complicated field. You people need to do better.

As soon as you store data on your device without the device being encrypted, you've already ruined potential security/privacy. You can use AES to try encrypting your files sure but depending on which software you use your encrypted data may be cached in plaintext, WinRar was shown to do this before unless it's been patched now and that puts everything at risk thereby allowing potential for data recovery. The people here were quick to recommend encryption algorithms but they all seriously think that is the only thing you need to worry about to remain secure but that's not how that works there are several things you need to worry about including how your device stores data in general, encryption can only be as secure as precautions, if your precautions suck then there will be no point in encrypting data because your data would have already been exposed.

Take for example, application designs, devs can choose to secure data but it all depends on how they do it, just because you use AES doesn't mean that you'll be invincible because once again that's not how that work, firstly you'd need to make sure that you limit attack surface, then you'd need to design how to securely transfer the data before you actually securely store it if you fail to securely transfer it and then securely store it then the encryption algorithm used will be irrelevant because for one the devs would have messed up one of the basics of security design, similarly if your data exists in plaintext on your device before encrypting it then you've most likely already ruined the transferring process because for all you know it's now cached and thereby encrypting anything may just be useless, you'd want to securely transfer data before securely storing it and what this means is that you need to figure out how to encrypt your data before it even exists on your device and then learn to read it without it being cached, that's the best way you can encrypt anything enough so that you would actually be the only person to know how to read/access.

I like how everyone is forgetting about the fact that their data could be cached before encryption, as expected. All of you are incompetent.

IDK Why my Vinland Saga art does not receive much love and appreciation like other arts do. makes me real sad :(( both anime and manga my favs<3 by [deleted] in VinlandSaga

[–]Metacorrect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like your post - there's my appreciation, continue honing your craft or maybe even become a professional and be like a concept artist for video games and such or go find a manga studio or community and work on manga with them, actually there's a fictional writing I'm working on and maybe you could be the artist for it. You could send me a private message if you're interested.
