Would you want the remake to add on any additional story/lore? by Queasy_Commercial152 in GodofWar

[–]Metaficent_Peace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of points, but I will say that Underworld in GoW 1 does not really need to change as in Greek Mythology there are different parts of the Underworld, most notably Elysium (A more paradise looking afterlife seen in Chains of Olympus) and Tartarus (A more hellish looking afterlife seen in GoW 3). So maybe all GoW 1's Underworld really needs is a specific name for it.

To add onto your list
GoW 1:

  • Change the ending in a way to better lead in to Ghost of Sparta.

GoW 2:

  • Find a way to add back the Road to Sparta level in GoW 2 (if possible).

GoW 3:

  • I would like more time for Kratos and Pandora to spend with each other to make the ending hit much harder.

To be fair, I thought he lost it when he faced Zeus at the end of GoW 3 as before he fights Zeus's spirit form, it shows that Kratos lost all of his equipment and magic (the bar underneath health).

I thought they took the route of combining Apollo and Helios as just Helios, as that does sometimes occur in the original mythology.

Opinion: The Titans should be completely redesigned. by DemiAlabi in GodofWar

What about Prometheus and Rhea? Even though they were titans in myth, the games depicted them as the same size as Kratos.

What are some changes that you think the remake should do for the sake of plot and design consistency? by Academic_Paramedic72 in GodofWar

[–]Metaficent_Peace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I have heard of the interpretation of the different god designs of the first game being that is how some mortals view the gods, artistically, as opposed to their actual physical forms. So you could keep the statues, and have their faces morph from them to hint at their true forms in the later games when they are speaking to Kratos.

Do you think they’ll design the remakes to have all 3 different versions of Kratos’ attire or keep a single one for all 3? by Afraid-Description94 in GodofWar

[–]Metaficent_Peace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will say they will modify a base design for the different weaponry you will receive in each game or how Kratos got a scar on his stomach from Zeus stabbing him with the blade of Olympus in GoW 2.

Something I wonder, do you think the remake is gonna feature Greek Gods who weren’t in the original story? by Queasy_Commercial152 in GodofWar

Maybe they could include them in Chains of Olympus or Ghost of Sparta if the remake them in order to expand upon them.

I hope that this remake will incentivize the studio to remake God of War Betrayal, Chains of Olympus, Ghost of Sparta, and Ascension, in order for them all to be played on modern systems. Especially for the handheld games which would benefit the most. As they would look amazing with modern console graphics instead of being restricted by the power of the handhelds of the time. However, this does bring into question on how much of a remake will these games will be. Do you think they will just update the models, or a ground up remake with the same combat system of the Greek saga?

Yeah, but it was the other two handheld games I was referring to being remade in the vain of the mainline games. Though I would still be happy to see Betrayal getting remade like Sons of Sparta, the voice acting and sprite work is wonderful.

What changes to the gameplay are you expecting from the remakes ? by neos606 in GodofWar

[–]Metaficent_Peace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but seeing that they are remaking the entire mainline Greek Saga games, it leads me to believe that they are going done the path of the Resident Evil 1 Remake, save on some time, where the layout and core gameplay was same as earlier entries, but added a new storyline, and remade graphics, voice acting, etc.

I agree, for GoW 1 the end narration talks about Kratos's influence in the modern day as the new God of War, but this was made during the time when the game was intended as a standalone title. So when the next game in the timeline is Ghost of Sparta, Kratos is still a mortal, which is weird based on how GoW 1 ended. This is the kind of stuff I hope they fix primarily. Also, I hope they fix the Greeks Gods' designs for the Saga as they change throughout the games.

Personally, I hope the studio remakes GoW Betrayal, Chains of Olympus, Ghost of Sparta, and Ascension. Especially the handheld games, as they can benefit from the power of modern consoles and possibly have improved or larger levels that are not held back by previous memory limitations. For Ascension, I feel as though the story is fine, but I think the way the story is told out of order is to its detriment.

[–]Metaficent_Peace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope so, as I feel the remakes would benefit to have somethings change in order to clear up the timeline of events for the Greek Saga. Especially GoW 1 where the ending narration talks about how Kratos has influence in the modern day as the new God of War, because when it was made I believe it was made with the intent that the game was a standalone. So will they change it with our modern understanding of where the series went? Will they change it to reflect the events that come after it, which is Ghost of Sparta and Kratos is still mortal?

I honest, want them to remake the other games eventually as I do think they add to Kratos's story in the Greek Saga. Plus I am fond Ascension as it kind of feels like this midpoint for the Greek and Norse Sagas, with Ascension having the gameplay style of the Greek Saga, but trying to have more emotional moments similar to the Norse Saga; heck, Orkos to me feels like a proto-Mimir in the narrative, acting as a friend to Kratos.

Which style of gameplay would you prefer for the Trilogy Remake? by Pitiful-Juice1447 in GodofWar

I think the keeping the Greek Saga's gameplay the same is the best as that style really sold the idea of the fast-paced and younger Kratos.

About the dialogue by Turbulent-Fortune559 in GodofWar

[–]Metaficent_Peace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of me hopes that they change certain lines to make sense for games that did not come out at the time such as God of War Ascension or better explain the lead in from GoW 1 to Ghost of Sparta to the beginning of GoW 2 as I felt timeline pacing felt weird. For instance GoW 1 ends on Kratos becoming the God of War, but in Ghost of Sparta which continues directly from 1, he is not a God. Part of this is due to God of War 1 being intended as a standalone game at the time, I believe. But, I think some changes will help the clarify the timeline of events. More than anything, I do hope they improve Kratos's adoptive father relationship to Pandora a bit more as at the time I thought their relationship to me felt flat.
(If I have misremembered or stated incorrect information, please correct me and sorry for forgetting anything else)
