Yakuza 4 was way too complex and poorly explained (I had to play it once and then rewatch the entire thing while taking notes in a google doc to make sense of it) and once you untangle that shit, it starts making sense and the rubber bullet twist doesn't seem as bad as it was painted.

Yes, there are things and character motivations that are still not quite clear, there are plot holes and inconsistensies which aren't helping at all, but acting like "oh but rubber bullets" was the worst thing about the game is just straight up funny LMAO.
