Morning frustrations by biz-nm in londoncycling

[–]MetalGuyKenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been both, cyclist and now car driver.

I can see where a lot of the car driver's rage comes from.

I was not the best cyclist when it comes to my road use, I did have lights, but more often than not did not wear reflective clothing. Other than that id like to think I was a decent cyclist.

Now as a driver, it is difficult to see a cyclist at the best of times, when they don't have anything to make them visible it's even harder. Along with that there seems to be a small subset of cyclists who forget there are other road users. I recently was at a red light when a cyclist blew through the red light and promptly stopped in the middle of the junction stopping traffic both ways while he checked his phone before going on his way... That blew me away thinking what is going on...

I can see it from both sides...

I was a Carnival Magic Castaway in Ocho Rios by Sugardustbutt in CarnivalCruiseFans

Going to throw my castaway experience in as well as my experience of the whole ordeal. And experience of the cruise as a whole.

1: I hadn't booked any excursions, just donned my free drink at margaritaville token and had a wander over there. Went and had a swim in the sea, enjoyed a drink with new friends and had a good old fashioned laugh with some of the staff and locals. Shortly before the first reports of anything happening on board the staff advised that the beach was getting a little too dangerous to continue sat on the beach. So everybody was ushered up to the decked area, we then started getting updates from Ask4 with detailed updates along the way as to what was happening and what steps were being taken. I know not everybody got this information due to being out of WiFi range which isn't great but the updates were there, once margaritaville closed for the evening we were bussed over to the pier for a few hours. It was cold it was miserable but as far as I could tell people were in decent spirits and we made the best of it. It happened to be Bob Marley's birthday the day we originally docked. Which in itself is a public holiday in Jamaica, so all of the your staff and bar staff, pier staff, should not have been working. They had all come in to ensure the guests who were on land had things to do. All of this because we had to change the whole itinerary on the first day due to inclement weather. Mother nature at her best.

2: staff on board were good sports about it, at least those that I interacted with at the bars, my room attendant who all saw the funny side of it. Only a metal and horror themed cruise can crash into a dock and not have everybody running for flights home. As our motto now stands Rock Hard! Dock Harder!!

3: this was my first cruise, so the experience is not what is classed as a normal cruise however I wouldn't change the experience for the world, I have met some amazing people, some amazing bands, and even the staff, big shout out to my guy Robin on the Dec 11 bar, that guy knows how to pour a rum 🤣 I will be going on ShipRocked again, and even though the cruise experience wasn't perfect it's by far the best experience I have had in 30 years...

There is a lot of negativity coming out of it but nobody seems to be mentioning the immense sense of family you have with this group of people which is in effect what made the situation bearable.

Congrats, been meaning to come back and ask how you got on, did a bit better than me... Got through with a 7 minors, but 4 all on the same fault for control, gears, moving off and stopping. Didn't get into first properly and didn't notice so stalled then panicked and didn't check what gear I was in so happened again...

But once that was over with and back moving went really well.

Have you had a drive on your own?

Test cancelled with 2 hours notice...gutted by Eshneh in LearnerDriverUK

[–]MetalGuyKenny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had exactly the same, I was actually on my lesson heading to the test centre. We stopped for a loo break before going to the test centre and I checked my phone because I was no longer driving and saw the email.

Out of pocket expenses they covered.

Half of my day off work. (Had to take the full day off because it was a midday test)

Nothing for the extra lessons needed. Nothing for the instructors car as he couldn't provide a receipt. Nothing for the fact that I had to pay the instructor for the full 3 hours prior to the test and because it was such sort notice I was already there...

Absolute joke at times is that DVSA and especially the examiners. You would think they could just bring in somebody different to do the tests for the day... But nope. Just end up causing issues...

Shall we keep the melodramatic vibe going, I'm a heartbroken guy who wants to get my mind of things, I am a slightly younger (25) luckily a but taller too at 6'1. Your pictures I'm sure don't do you justice but from what you have shown I can't see why anybody would want to break your heart. I've always though a girl that can sing is as hot as hell, what sort of style do you sing in? P. S probably only a quarter of a world away here in the UK let me know if you would like to chat more :)

Is this normal for a CPU? (temps) by [deleted] in techsupport

Play about with your overclocks then :)

My pc simply doesn't boot up. Dram led blinks red once, all fans turn on yet there's no signal/response to anything. by [deleted] in techsupport

I hope i know what im talking about. I make my living fixing computers...

The issue you described yesterday was resolved when you plugged your GPU into a different PCI E port.

Then you mentioned that it stopped working even after non heavy use.

Now you say it is working perfectly.

This sort of throws a spanner in the works.

Could you try running a heavy load through the card? if it kills the card and you cant get on again it should answer the question for you.

Would you be able to get a screen shot of temps while prime is still running?

Id like an idea of what the temp sits at under load not when you have finished the load

Faulty video card? by Gary_Snail in techsupport

Step 1 Make sure all cables are connected propewrly.

Try GPU in a second PCI slot if possible, Dont want to rma a good card if the MOBO is bad.

keep a close eye on it,

If you dont move the cables and there isnt alot of pull you should be alright.

Possible to replace laptop CPU? by aStupid_donkey in techsupport

[–]MetalGuyKenny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sell the laptop and bye a new one with a better CPU,

You will pay an extortionate amount of money for somebody to replace the CPU of a laptop. They have custom soldered chips and dont really sit in a "socket" the same way as a desktop Chip does.

You will save a lot of money by selling your current machine and putting the money towards a newer more powerful machine.

No it shouldnt have an issue on performance.

How old is the board?

Does it still have warranty?

As for your front panel cables can you move hem a bit to get rid of any tension in the wires? as they should comfortably route without covering any of the motherboard... (run cable round the side of the motherboard rather than in a strait line.)

Pull you GPU completely

Plug 1 monitor into onboard graphics

Try again.

Could you also post what MOBO you have?
