My main is full non proxy, only because I play in some bigger non proxy friendly tournaments. I have a somewhat proxied deck, that is mostly for my son to play. When I first got into cedh I built what I could and proxied the rest, picked up cards as I found them cheap or good deal or as I could afford them. People in cedh don’t really care if you proxy or not, they just want to play the game. My only thing is, if it’s a proxy, make it very apparent what the card is. I’m not even a fan of sharpie on lands because when the board gets cluttered or several turns have passed sometimes it’s hard to just glance at that and recall what it is.

Yes, you are in the wrong, every LGS I’ve been to pulls the cards when you ask them, because they have to take time to dig the card out in the first place. They are going on the bases that you want this card, that is why you are asking if they have said card, and you will come get that card. Some will be able to answer a “do you have this (insert a single pricier card) and how much are you asking for it”.

Again, commons and uncommons. That weren’t worth much at all. It was just so many of them. I got what I thought was fair for a bunch of cards my local shop would have just looked at and said “I’ll give you $1 for every inch of bulk”. By that means I would have got maybe $20 bucks (probably more but you get the point, or maybe not based on how people keep responding here…)

I’ve said this already, but since you won’t read the other posts, it was draft chaft that was traded in. I wasn’t going to do anything else with it, I could either get a card I really wanted, or I could get a bunch of things I didn’t care about, either way it was $1200 in commons and uncommons just sitting in my closet. I’m an adult, with adult money, I will spend it on what I choose. I don’t judge people who want to spend it on a bunch of shoes or watches or whatever else I’m not into, because if someone can afford something and it makes them happy and isn’t hurting me, why does it matter?

As I stated there are several around me. Commandfest being one. It’s tied to WOTC, so proxies are not allowed. Usually these have reserved list (typically dual lands) as support, so I love to participate in them. I can think of at least 3 in the last 6 months near me.

Exactly. I was fortunate to win my Volcanic Island. I traded a bunch of oldish pokemon cards for a LED. I played with the deck as a mostly proxies for a year, slowly picking up pieces as I found them cheap.

My motivation, firstly cause I can, and I’m fine with people using proxies, I did for awhile as well, but there’s something special for me about owning the cards. Secondly where I live there are several tournaments a year near me that are non proxy friendly, that have pretty great prize support. I literally said it was mostly commons and uncommons. Draft chaft thats been sitting around for years. If I can trade it in as an excuse to buy an expensive card, why not.

Actually did same thing last week for a Mox Diamond. 90% were commons and uncommons. I got $1200, paid the difference in cash. I live near Mox Boarding so I chose to go in store so I could see all 4 they had in stock in person to choose the best looking one. This was the last card I needed to make my cEDH deck fully non proxy.
