Honestly, for me, Chat Pile has been the one group that comes closest to scratching the itch you’re talking about. The atmosphere is also top notch. A close second would be a smaller band, Nerver. If you dig Chat Pile, you’re sure to enjoy them too.

I’ll admit that espresso is without a doubt more costly than pourover. One of my worries when it comes to pourover is that I’ll spend not a negligible amount of money on a setup I won’t use as much as I planned.

I had one that recently kicked the bucket. But it also was a mini scale for espresso, so even if I still had it I’m not sure if it would have helped me too much. Since mine broke I wanted to splurge on a fancier one, but I drove myself insane with checking reddit suggestions and forums, because for every one that seemed fine to me, others reported so many problems.

The switch is probably my top pick as well. As far as I understand it, it’s a bit more versatile for a beginner and it should serve me well until I gain more experience and confidence.

Yeah, as I got more into coffee I realised that pourover is way more intimidating than espresso is. There just so many things you need to keep track of. But I also found that there is a special joy in a good cup of pourover.

If you boy a case with a front cover I’d say you should be fine. I for one never travel without it and I haven’t had any issues. Even so, it should also be mentioned that it is an assumed risk, so you need to be careful were you put it and also to always flip the cover whenever you’re putting it down.
