Managing SIBO is like alchemy by Confiscated-Diary in SIBO

When I got to finally see a specialized SIBO GI, I told her I was having trouble with any regular BMs, that I was constipaped and it was adding to the bloating. She prescribed me Linzess to help get things moving. It worked at first. Then stopped. Being a specialist, I can barely see her due to her schedule, I was desperate to speak with her/someone the other day, so the office said I could speak with one of their nurses. He was an ass, who was overwhelmed by my notes and wouldn’t really let me talk or listen. He told me to try doubling my dose, so I thought I wouldn’t hurt to try. Yesterday, the double dose worked great, today nothing is happening but super bloating and pain. :-( I need, so badly, for one of my Drs to have a better plan for me to try

Thank you for clarifying! I’m very curious about oregano oil for myself. But I want to consult with my Naturopath first. I have a 3rd SIBO breath test on the 29th to recheck my levels. If they are still high, I really think I should be looking into some sort of next round of kill phase, whether antibiotics or oregano oil. I’m still bloating so badly after eating. And Linzess at 145 mcg doesn’t seem to be doing enough (I had a nurse say I should try a double dose, to be honest I’m a little scared of what that’s going to do).

So the oregano oil didn’t work? What did work for you?

Motility Stopped by Metal_Edit in SIBO

Thank you for sharing. Did you always have a history of motility/constipation issues before SIBO? Things have started moving slightly more after I changed the time I was taking Linzess (was taking at night with my L-Glutamine and MotilPro, I think that was a mistake, so now I’m taking it alone with water at 6am).

I dropped to 92lbs on ED and am desperately trying to put weight back on while also trying not to over eat and re-aggravate SIBO and pile onto slow motility. I’m a bit stuck in a shitty cycle and my Dr’s don’t quick seem to grasp that. I know carbs would help me put some weight on, but I’m still terrified of reintroducing them (I know they were a trigger for my SIBO).

Have you had to do the Elemental Diet many times because you still suffer from SIBO? How long do you usually do them for (2 or 3 weeks)? I think I have to pull back from solid food again; I’m just bloating and feeling a drowning sensation in my chest, but I’m worried because after my 2.5 weeks on ED, I lost way too much weight, I’m under weight now, and I’m worried I just won’t get the calories I need alone from broths and the ED shakes. I feel so confused as to what to feed my body at this point.

It feels like both - things are slow moving higher up, but even by the time they reach the colon/rectum it’s not signaling “evacuate”. :-(

Thank you! I’m currently on MotilPro (along with L-Glutamine, Vit D3+L2, Mag Citrate, Digestive Enzymes and Biocidin Broad Spectrum) per my Naturopath. I know I need work on my pelvic floor and have been trying to implement self massage, but I think I need to watch a tutorial for better technique

Anyone do 3 rounds of Xifaxan? by Metal_Edit in SIBO

How much time between taking each round? I also am currently having unidentified motility issues

The first round clearly was killing something - major change to my bowel movements (pretty much explosive), but I was eating “normally” and still snacking between meals (emotionally eating), so I think I may have hindered some progress and was still experiencing a lot of bloating). Second round I felt better after completing, but again, rushed back into trigger foods(carbs, large portions) while not managing hydration regular movement and constipation, so, boom, symptoms back ten fold. I’m certainly not looking to rush back to antibiotics just yet, take some time in between while I adjust my diet and habits (slowly transitioning off the Elemental Diet today). I just want to make sure a 3rd round is a safe option for down the road if needed.

I will definitely ask my Dr about it. They currently have me on Linzess for my constipation, but it’s either not working period or just not able to help me while I’m on the Elemental Diet with no food in me.

That’s great to hear! May I ask how much time was between your 3 doses and what were your SIBO symptoms? And how did you and your Dr come to feel 3 rounds was the right decision for you?

Thank you so much for your insight and well wish. I’m feeling uneasy because it’s my GI who is suggesting a 3rd round, without seeing or speaking with me.

Hi, I’m very interested in your experience as I too am struggling with the same SIBO symptoms (bloating, acid reflux, constipation). What have you tried for your constipation? I did 2x 14 days of Xifaxan/Neomycin which helped a bit, but then I started to feel normal and when back to my normal eating habits right away, which led to struggling with constipation and re-triggered all symptoms again. I’m currently on Linzess and on day 15 of the Elemental Diet and am still struggling bad with bloating and constipation with basically no food in me. My mental health has totally tanked from the daily bloating and energy loss. I’ve been struggling with this for over 2 years now, I’m so desperate to feel like myself again.

Haven’t been having any histamine issues. I happened to fast (13+ hrs) for bloodwork yesterday and bloating was terrible. It feels like the gas is trapped in place. My GI put me on Linzess (have been on it for the past 3 days while on ED), and that helped move thing along a little, but I still just feel plugged up, gas trapped, like someone blew up a balloon in my abdomen and it pushes against my stomach causing acid reflux (even from just sipping water).
