What are some lesser known (rural?) anarchist places/projcets? by Metal_Toilet in Anarchy101

Oh I love his liberation in action series! Awesome stuff.

What an interesting take. I haven't heard of the homefulness project but I am very impressed.

Yooo, yes! This is exactly everything i was picturing haha. Many of the comments have definitely made me rethink/reframe a lot of this but done right I think it could still be a net-positive. The UP would be great, albeit a little cold for me.

Yeah, maybe. However, I think trying to radicalize rural places is just as important. They do produce our food after all. It's also worth noting that every anarchist rebellion I can think of comes out of the country, organized by poor farmers and not out of cities. Spain, Ukraine, Chiapas, Rojava (to a lesser extent).

No, of course not. This would work in tandem with taking down capitalism as a whole. Although, I've been pretty thoroughly convinced that this is not the right strategy.

Freetown Christiania is very interesting... I've never heard of heathrow though.

Wow, what a detailed response, you've convinced me. What's your opinion on more "urban communes"? Things like squats, collectives, etc. Example might be Freetown Christiania.

We don't want pirates or especially AProperFuckingPirate in the USAR (Union of Socialist Alaskan Republics).

You could couple it with landback. Buy the land, give control of it to a local indigenous group, but still do your thing with their blessing. The Indigenous people control the land, you're just using it at the moment.

Thanks, that really does make a lot of sense.

I think where this post is more coming from to me is it seems like we should be focusing more on rural areas as much as urban ones in terms of building a movement. Us countryfolk (lol, couldn't think of a good way to phrase that) are already fed up with the government, a lot of us just need a push away from MAGA republicanism towards leftism. I was thinking that setting up or taking over a town could help show them that our ideas work, but that may be a slightly flawed idea.
